There are some who believe that the crowned heads of Europe and particularly the British royal family are descended from King David. This idea comes from two sources:
- The desire of supporters of British Israelism to further support their position, and
- The kings of Britain, beginning with James 1, have used the idea to further their claims of legitimacy and authority.
The claim is based on the promise of God to David that God would be a father to Solomon correcting him for any sin but never abandoning him, and that David would have a perpetual kingdom.
2 Samuel 7:12 And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed [Solomon] after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. 7:13 He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.
7:14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men: 7:15 But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.
Here is a promise that Solomon would be king and would build the Jerusalem Temple, and; second that God would not abandon Solomon.
Take careful note here that God does NOT say that Solomon’s kingdom or lineage would endure forever, the promise is that God would not abandon Solomon himself.
God means what God says; and forever means far more than a mere physical lineage of rulers; forever means for all eternity!
Now God makes a third promise directly to David and it does NOT say that David’s physical lineage would be established: rather God promises that David’s throne would be established FOREVER
7:16 And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever [for eternity]. 7:17 According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.
- God promises David that his son Solomon would be given the throne of Israel,
- That God would be like a father to Solomon and would correct him, but would not abandon him if he sinned, and then
- God promised David an eternal throne.
So far so good, but this scripture is taken out of context with other scriptures on the same subject; for God later speaks to Solomon, making the promise of a line of kings descending from Solomon, absolutely conditional on Solomon living by every Word of God
1 Chronicles 28:1 And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that ministered to the king by course, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the valiant men, unto Jerusalem.
28:2 Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building: 28:3 But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war, and hast shed blood.
28:4 Howbeit the Lord God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen Judah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make me king over all Israel:
28:5 And of all my sons, (for the Lord hath given me many sons,) he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel. 28:6 And he said unto me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my house and my courts: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.
The promise to David was unconditional because David had already proved himself, but the promise to Solomon was very much conditional!
28:7 Moreover I will establish his kingdom for ever, IF he be constant to do my commandments and my judgments, as at this day. [but most of David’s line were not constant to do God’s commandments except Hezekiah, Jehoshaphat, Josiah and a few others temporarily]
28:8 Now therefore in the sight of all Israel the congregation of the Lord, and in the audience of our God, keep and seek for all the commandments of the Lord your God: that ye may possess this good land, and leave it for an inheritance for your children after you for ever.
28:9 And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever. 28:10 Take heed now; for the Lord hath chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.
This is a very conditional promise by God to Solomon.
1 Kings 9:4 And IF thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments: 9:5 Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom [the throne of Solomon, as opposed to David’s throne] upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.
9:6 But if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them: 9:7 Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people: 9:8 And at this house, which is high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath the Lord done thus unto this land, and to this house? 9:9 And they shall answer, Because they forsook the Lord their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have taken hold upon other gods, and have worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath the Lord brought upon them all this evil.
Notice that David’s throne was already established forever, the promise will be fulfilled by the resurrected David’s rule over a united Israel for all eternity; but Solomon’s throne and dynasty was absolutely CONDITIONAL on his living by every Word of God.
How can this be and what does this mean? This is so important, that God repeats the warning to Solomon when the Temple is dedicated.
2 Chronicles 7:17 And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and shalt observe my statutes and my judgments; 7:18 Then will I stablish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I have covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel.
7:19 But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them; 7:20 Then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations.
7:21 And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say, Why hath the Lord done thus unto this land, and unto this house? 7:22 And it shall be answered, Because they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath he brought all this evil upon them.
Notice that David’s throne was already established forever [for all eternity], but Solomon’s throne was absolutely CONDITIONAL on his living by every Word of God.
How can this be and what does this mean?
The answer is that David was already promised to be resurrected to eternal life and to receive an eternal kingdom, because he had already proved that he was zealous to live by every Word of God. Therefore God promised David a resurrection to spirit so that he could personally rule the united house of Israel forever. While the promise to Solomon was a conditional promise [which failed because of Solomon’s sins] concerned the physical line of Solomon!
Messiah the Christ will come as King of all kings and with him will come a resurrected David as king over the once again united whole house of Israel!
Paul wrote of David in Hebrews 11, that David had died NOT having received the promises and that David would be resurrected to spirit with all God’s faithful.
Hebrews 11:32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
The promise of an eternal throne made to David, was a promise of a resurrection to eternal life, to sit upon his throne FOREVER!
David was a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22) because he NEVER worshiped other gods, and because whenever he sinned he quickly and sincerely repented just as soon as he realized that he had sinned.
Speaking of the post resurrection millennium: Hosea 3:5 Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the Lord their God, and David their king; and shall fear the Lord and his goodness in the latter days.
When Christ comes, he will set a resurrected David back upon his throne, to rule all Israel FOREVER, thus fulfilling God’s promise to David!
Ezekiel 34:23 And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. 34:24 And I the Lord will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the Lord have spoken it.
Ezekiel 37:24 And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them [thus showing that the whole law and every Word of God will also be kept forever!]. 37:25 And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children’s children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever.
Jeremiah 33:17 For thus saith the Lord; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;
How is this promise to be fulfilled? Solomon turned away from God and was disqualified, therefore God’s promise to David will be fulfilled by the resurrection of David himself!
Quoting Amos 9:11 Luke writes in Acts 15:16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
Amos 9:11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David [the Davidic line] that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:
After the coming of Christ, Israel will again be united and will turn to the Eternal, and the resurrected David will be king over all Israel; and God’s promise of a perpetual Davidic throne over Israel will be fulfilled!
Jeremiah 30:9 But they shall serve the Lord their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.
Solomon Loses Israel
1 Kings 11:6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord, and went not fully after the Lord, as did David his father.
11:7 Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon. 11:8 And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.
11:9 And the Lord was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the Lord God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice, 11:10 And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the Lord commanded.
11:11 Wherefore the Lord said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.
The story of how God gave the ten tribes of Israel to Jeroboam is found in 1 Kings 12.
Jeroboam then turned the ten tribes into the same apostasy of Solomon and set up false idols and taught the people to sin against the Eternal. There was not one good king in Israel so that God finally removed them from the land by the hand of the Assyrians 2 Kings 17.
Doubtless some in Israel listened to the prophets and saw the Assyrians coming and fled to be assimilated into Judah, but the kingdom and the bulk of the people were removed from the land.
Question: Were the kings of the ten tribes of the seed of David? or were they non Davidic?
Answer: God rent the ten tribes away from Solomon the son of David and therefore from the line of David, and gave them to other rulers until this day!
Question: Was the new king of the ten tribes from the Zerah line of Judah, or was he from Ephraim?
Answer: Jeroboam was from the tribe of Ephraim and was NOT from the tribe of Judah. Jeroboam was not from either the Zarah or Pharez lines! NOTE: The line of Jeroboam was replaced by men of other tribes through the years, but no king from Judah ever sat on the throne of Israel after God took the ten tribes away from Judah and David!
The promise was to David and the royal line was to be from David alone, therefore all the reasoning about a uniting of Pharez and Zarah through a marriage between a descendant of Zerah the daughter of Zedekiah and a male descendant of Jeroboam is pure fantasy!
Neither Jeroboam, nor any his descendants, nor any of the other kings of Israel; were from a line of Judah! No not one!
1 Kings 11:26 And Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite [Ephraim] of Zereda,
Zarah and Pharez
Those who support the idea that the British monarchs are descended from David begin their story with the birth of Pharez and Zerah to Judah
Genesis 38:30 And afterward came out his brother, that had the scarlet thread upon his hand: and his name was called Zarah.
While there is no doubt that an interesting event occurred, however this event cannot be applied to the Davidic line. The promise of a royal line and an eternal throne was given to David and NOT to either Pharez or Zarah!
This history of Judah is recorded NOT because of any kingly line [which dynasty was not promised to either of them, but to David], but because Pharez and Zarah are the progenitors of the entire tribe of Judah!
The issue here was not about any kingly line; this issue concerned who would be the legitimate chief elder of Judah, and the direct line of succession of tribal chief elders in the tribe of Judah!
Some of the British Israel people know that the ten tribes were separated from Judah and therefore make the claim that the family of Zarah migrated out of Egypt to Iberia and Ireland, BEFORE the Exodus, basing this on the fact that little is said about the genealogy of the descendants of Zarah in Egypt.
Of course this migration is mere conjecture and there is NOTHING in scripture about any part of Israel leaving Egypt BEFORE the Exodus! In fact the scriptural description makes such an early pre-exodus departure impossible.
Indeed, we find that the descendants of Zarah remained in Judea even AFTER the Babylonian captivity! This was because ALL Jews are descendants of either Zarah or Pharez.
Nehemiah 11:24 And Pethahiah the son of Meshezabeel, of the children of Zerah the son of Judah, was at the king’s [governor’s] hand in all matters concerning the people.
No part of Israel left Pharonic Egypt until Moses led the people out of bondage! Yes, Dan left for Iberia and Ireland but not from ancient Egypt, for a portion of Dan sailed during the days of Deborah.
Judges 5:17 Gilead abode beyond Jordan: and why did Dan remain in ships?
This was a portion of Dan, and had nothing to do with any migration of Zerah of Judah; and they sailed during the period of the Judges long after the Exodus from Egypt.
Pharez and Zerah is a false red herring issue, the kingdom began with David and the promise was given to David, and not to either Pharez or Zerah.
Additionally, the Ten Tribes were rent from the line of David and the house of Judah, and were not to have any more kings from the Davidic line until God reunites all Israel when Christ comes with the resurrected David.
There was NO king coming from David in the ten tribes AFTER God rent Israel away from David’s line.
God broke the Brotherhood of Israel and Judah and God will restore that Brotherhood.
There is NOTHING in the scriptures about binding Phares to Zarah, because the kingly line did NOT begin with Judah! The kingly line began when David was made king in place of Saul of Benjamin, and this line of David had absolutely NOTHING to do with Phares or Zarah.
God said that he broke the brotherhood between Israel and Judah, therefore no descendant of David would ever rule over Israel again; until Christ should come with the resurrected David. Only then will the breach between Israel and Judah be repaired.
As for any breach between Zarah and Pharez, that was merely an historical curiosity and has nothing to do with the Davidic line and God’s promises to David.
Zechariah 11:14 Then I cut asunder mine other staff, even Bands, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.
God said that Israel and Judah will remain as two separate people with the ten tribes of Israel cut off from the Davidic line, until the resurrection and the coming of Christ to begin the millennium.
Ezekiel 37:21 And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:
37:22 And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all.
37:23 Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.
37:24 And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them.
37:25 And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children’s children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever.
We have the Word of God that the ten tribes of Israel are to remain cut off from the Davidic line until the resurrection and the coming of Jesus Christ!
That being the case: How can the British monarchs be of the line of David?
Answer: it is impossible that the British monarchy is descended from the line of David, because the Ten Tribes were removed from the line of David by Almighty God himself, and will remain removed until Christ comes to unite them with Judah under the resurrected David!
Does this mean that the British people are not the Israelite tribe of Ephraim? Quite the contrary there is no doubt that the British people are the descendants of the tribe of Ephraim. The issue is whether the house of David rules Britain today or not and this has nothing to do with the identity of the nation.
In their zeal to try to prove that Britain was Ephraim by claiming that the monarchy was the line of David, many have hurt their own cause.
Yes, there is no doubt that the British people are the descendants of Ephraim which means that the British monarchy cannot possibly be descended from the line of David, for Ephraim along with the other nine tribes is cut off from the Davidic line until Christ comes!
Just think, God separated the ten tribes from David until they will be restored when Christ comes with the resurrected David, therefore no king of the Davidic line [after Solomon] will ever rule any part of the ten tribes until Christ comes with the resurrected David.
Ephraim and the other nine tribes were cut off from the Davidic line until the resurrected David comes to reunite them.
Judah and The Nail of the Davidic Dynasty
The prophecy of Eliakim is God’s promise to Hezekiah that his kingdom of Judah which remained to the Dynasty of David, will remain sure through his successor Eliakim. Eliakim is the original name of Jehoiakim, king of Judah ( 2 Kings 23:34 ).
Isaiah 22:20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah: 22:21 And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand: and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.
22:22 And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.
The nail in a sure place is a promise to Hezekiah that the kingdom of Judah [the Dynasty of David] would be sure through his reign up to the end of the reign of Eliakim.
22:23 And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father’s house. 22:24 And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father’s house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons.
Hezekiah was succeeded by kings Manasseh, Amon, Josiah, Jehoahaz, Jehoichim [Eliakim], Jehoichin and Zedekiah.
After Hezekiah king of Judah, came kings Manasseh, Amon, and Josiah followed by King Jehoahaz who reigned for three months before his throne was overturned by Neco, king of Egypt, who dethroned him and replaced him with his brother, Eliakim.
Then Eliakim [who’s reign was prophesied to Hezekiah as the nail in a sure place] using the regal name Jehoiakim reigned for 11 years before being killed by Nebuchadnezzar in the first big siege of Jerusalem c 597 B.C. His kingdom was overturned to Jehoiachin (Jeconiah).
God’s promise about the kingdom of Judah and Eliakim made to Hezekiah, was fulfilled when Eliakim reigned for 11 years and was then killed.
22:25 In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall the nail that is fastened in the sure place [the dynasty of David] be removed, and be cut down, and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off: for the LORD hath spoken it.
Overturn, Overturn, Overturn and Be No More!
We must now ask the question: In light of the fact that Judah has no king today, what about the Davidic line and Judah?
After the ten tribes of Israel were taken away from Judah and the Davidic line, kings of the Davidic line continued to reign in Judah, some good and many bad.
Finally God had had enough and God sent a prophecy that he will no longer tolerate ANY more kings of the line of David anywhere.
Ezekiel 21:27 I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more [cease to exist], until he come whose right it is [the resurrected David]; and I will give it him.
The words “I will overturn” means that God will overturn the throne by God’s own means rather than the natural death of the king through old age.
Some have interpreted this to mean that the throne was moved to Ireland then Scotland and finally to Great Britain where it thrives today. What does this really say?
Watch those assumptions! This does NOT say that the throne or kingdom will be settled and will not be overturned anymore after the third time.
No, this says that the line of David WILL END, it will be NO more; until he come whose right it is;”
The phrase “it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him”; says that the throne will be overturned three times [to three different kings] and will then cease to exist until Christ comes with the resurrected David, who’s right it is to rule Israel!
This “Overturn” prophecy is about the royal line of David in JUDAH, and has absolutely nothing to do with the heritage of the British and American people, who’s founding people come from the sons of Joseph. After all, was Israel any less Israel when she left David for the line of Jeroboam of Ephraim?
The “Overturn” prophecy was fulfilled as follows:
King Jehoahaz reigned for three months before his throne was overturned by Neco, king of Egypt, who dethroned him and replaced him with his brother, Eliakim. He was carried off to Egypt, where he died.
The first “Overturn” was to Eliakim
Then Eliakim using the regal name Jehoiakim reigned for 11 years before being killed by Nebuchadnezzar in the first big siege of Jerusalem c 597 B.C. His kingdom was overturned to Jehoiachin (Jeconiah).
The Second “Overturn” was to Jehoichin
Jehoiachin reigned for 3 months & 10 days until King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon took Jerusalem and brought king Jehoiachin (Jeconiah) to Babylon, where he lived and died. Jehoiachin was replaced with Zedekiah by Nebuchadnezzar when Jerusalem was taken the first time.
The third “Overturn” was to Zedekiah
Zedekiah was the last king to be overturned when his reign saw the second rebellion against Nebuchadnezzar (588-586 BC). Jerusalem was captured for the second time after a lengthy siege and the Temple was burned. Zedekiah was blinded and taken into exile, and Judah reduced to a province of Babylon.
This “Overturn” prophecy given by Ezekiel to Judah is about the end of the Davidic line, which expired with the final fall of Jerusalem and the Babylonian captivity,
From the end of Zedekiah, the line of David was to expire as a line of physical kings in Judah, because of their many great sins: “until he come whose right it is [the resurrected king David]; and I will give it him“.
The Holy Scriptures tell us that:
- The Davidic line lost the ten tribes of Israel [to a ruler from Ephraim and that line was replaced by Baasha of Issachar, then Jehu and others, but never again did the ten tribes have a king from Judah]; and the dynasty of David ended in Israel until Israel and Judah are reunited at the coming of Christ; Therefore the throne of David cannot exist in one of the Ten Tribes today!
- The Davidic line was then extinguished in Judah as well, ceasing to exist until the resurrection of David at the coming of Messiah the Christ.
Therefore, according to the Word of God Almighty; NONE of the kings and queens of Britain or any other tribe of Israel/Judah today are descended from David!
David’s line has ended because of their great and many sins in leading people away from a zeal to live by every Word of God! Yet, God’s promise to David will be fulfilled when David himself is resurrected to spirit and sits upon the throne of David over a united Judah/Israel forever more!
This is a very important lesson for today’s Ekklesia; Those who are faithful and lead the brethren to live by every Word of God will have an eternal office like David, and those who depart from living by every Word of God will lose their crowns!
What is the meaning of Ezekiel 17:22 Thus saith the Lord God; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one [David], and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent [David will be given the kingdom of a united Israel]: 17:23 In the mountain of the height of Israel [the government of Israel will be given to David] will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.
The answer is found in Ezekiel 34. When Christ comes with the resurrected David, the people of all the nations of Judah and Israel will be searched out and brought back to their land, and united under their king [the resurrected David] who’s right to rule is firmly established by the immutable promise of God the Almighty!
Ezekiel 34:29 And I will raise up for them a plant of renown [the resurrected David], and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more.
Ezekiel 34:11 For thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out. 34:12 As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day [the tribulation].
34:13 And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country. 34:14 I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie in a good fold, and in a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel. 34:15 I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord God.
The flock will be fed with every Word of God and will be healed spiritually from all their transgressions
34:16 I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment.
The wicked will be judged and the righteous will be rewarded.
34:17 And as for you, O my flock [God’s flock is men v 31], thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I judge between cattle and cattle, between the rams and the he goats.
34:18 Seemeth it a small thing unto you [strong bulls and rams representing the shepherds and pastors] to have eaten up the good pasture, but ye must tread down with your feet the residue of your pastures? and to have drunk of the deep waters, but ye must foul the residue with your feet? 34:19 And as for my flock, they eat that which ye have trodden with your feet; and they drink that which ye have fouled with your feet.
34:20 Therefore thus saith the Lord God unto them; Behold, I, even I, will judge between the fat cattle and between the lean cattle. 34:21 Because ye have thrust with side and with shoulder, and pushed all the diseased with your horns, till ye have scattered them abroad; 34:22 Therefore will I save my flock [from today’s apostate shepherds], and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between cattle and cattle.
34:23 And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. 34:24 And I the Lord will be their God, and my servant David a prince [the ruler] among them; I the Lord have spoken it.
34:25 And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause the evil beasts [a symbolic type of evil shepherds and spiritual leaders] to cease out of the land: and they shall dwell safely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods. 34:26 And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing.
34:27 And the tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land, and shall know that I am the Lord, when I have broken the bands of their yoke, and delivered them out of the hand of those that served themselves of them. 34:28 And they shall no more be a prey to the heathen, neither shall the beast of the land devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and none shall make them afraid.
34:29 And I will raise up for them a plant of renown [the resurrected David], and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more.
34:30 Thus shall they know that I the Lord their God am with them, and that they, even the house of Israel, are my people, saith the Lord God. 34:31 And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men, and I am your God, saith the Lord God.
This is a prophecy of the coming of Messiah the Christ and the resurrected David
Jeremiah in Ireland
Following on the heels of the false connection of Pharez and Zarah, they then claim that Jeremiah took the daughters of Zedekiah [Pharez line] to Ireland where one of them married and Irish king from Zerah thereby repairing the Pharez – Zarah breach.
The last mention of Jeremiah’s life was when he went down to Egypt with the king’s daughters (Jeremiah 43:6). Nowhere in all the bible is it said that Jeremiah went on to any other place.
The tradition that Jeremiah took the king’s daughters to Ireland is unsubstantiated tradition. In fact God had told Jeremiah that all who go to Egypt would die there. (Jer 42)
All of this research into Jeremiah and the so-called Tea-Tephi is actually made superfluous by one core truth — only a SON, NOT A DAUGHTER, could perpetuate the royal line of David!
The royal line had nothing to do with either Zarah or Pharez, but was from David; and a daughter of David could not perpetuate the Davidic line by marrying a man from the Zerah line who was not descended from David! The Davidic line could ONLY be perpetuated by a son!
If you study the genealogies in the Bible, you will find that they pass down through the MALE LINE without exception. The only time females are named in the genealogies is when there is something remarkable about them that needs to be recorded. Examples of this are found in Gen. 11:29; 22:23; 25:1-4; 35:22-26; Ex. 6:23 and Num. 26:33.
This is why Josephus could say: “And after this manner have the kings of David’s race ended their lives, being in number twenty-one, until THE LAST KING [Zedekiah], who altogether reigned five hundred and fourteen years, and six months, and ten days: of whom Saul, who was their first king, retained the government twenty years, though he was not of the same tribe with the rest.” (“Antiquities of the Jews”, chap. VIII, 4).
During an interesting dissertation on the anointing oil used by certain royal lines, Roderic O’Flaherty comments “that David and his posterity were anointed with the same oil that is used in the ordination of priests: the Rabbis unanimously believe it: and they also confirm, by traditions which they hold in the highest veneration, that the blessed oil, with which Aaron was anointed priest, was providentially and miraculously preserved without the smallest diminution, UNTIL THE LINE OF DAVID WAS EXTINCT.… [with the death of Zedekiah]” (“Ogygia, or, a Chronological Account of Irish Events.” Vol. I. W. M’Kenzie, Dublin. 1793. P. 71).
The Ancient Traditions Have Been Misapplied
In the British-Israelite books there is no REFERENCE to WHERE in the Irish and Scottish annals supporting material may be found!
“Many of the ancient Irish records, when making reference to an ‘eastern king’s daughter,’ also mention an old man called ‘OLLAM FODHLA’
The claim: Tradition asserts that Ollam Fodhla was none other than JEREMIAH, the prophet…” (Artisan Sales, Thousand Oaks, CA. 1977. P. 31).
There is NO SUCH TRADITION in the Irish annals! This tradition was invented by the modern British Israel people.
To further solidify this identification of Jeremiah with the Irish Ollam Fodhla, E. Raymond Capt makes the following statement:
SOME authorities on Irish history have cited the Annals of the Kingdom of Ireland by the Four Masters (edited from MSS. in the Library of the Royal Academy and of Trinity College, Dublin translated by John O’Donovan, M.T.I.A.) as A LINK BETWEEN IRELAND AND JEREMIAH:
“Ollam Fola (Foldha) is celebrated in ANCIENT HISTORY as a sage and legislator, eminent for learning, wisdom and excellent institutions, and his historic fame has been recognized by placing his medallion in ‘basso relievo’ with those of Moses and other great legislators in the interior of the dome of the Four Courts of Dublin….(Ibid., p. 41).
Originators of the…legend simply combine famous, known figures in the annals, many centuries apart, and splice them together in a TOTALLY IMAGINARY RECONSTRUCTION.
“For example, who is Olam Fodla?
In British-Israel theory, and stated in the USBCP, he is JEREMIAH, the aged prophet.
In fact, Olam Fodla appears in the Irish legends as one of the greatest NATIVE MILESIAN KINGS. Unlike the British-Israel books which provide no sources, here is a QUOTE from the annals.
A poem quoted in one of the annals called the Book of Leinster, and identified by one of Ireland’s early authorities on the annals, Eugene O’Curry, as written around the time of the birth of Christ and of a very high degree of authority, has this to say of Olam Fodla, whom the WCG book, UNCRITICALLY REPEATING BRITISH-ISRAEL LEGEND, says was “Jeremiah.” Does this read like a description of the biblical Jeremiah?
‘Ollam Fodhla, of furious valour,
Who founded the Court of Ollamh,
Was the first heroic KING
That instituted the Feast of Teamain [Tara].
FORTY sweet musical YEARS
He held the high sovereignty of Erinn [Ireland];
And it was from him, with noble pride,
The Ultonians took their name.
Six kings of valiant career
OF OLLAMH’S RACE reigned over Errin;
For two hundred and ten full years,
No other person came between them…’
“The ancient poem continues with an account of Ollam’s six reigning descendants. OLLAM WAS NOT JEREMIAH.
The annals say Ollam FOUNDED A COLLEGE and was an enlightened ruler, known as “Doctor of Wisdom.” This is said of the famous KING Ollam Fodla. The name “Ollam” thereafter meant a wise man.
British Israel writers arbitrarily claim that Ollam Fodla was Jeremiah , even though the Annals say that he was a native Milesian king.
“Dr. Herman Hoeh, the leading historian of British-Israelism in the Worldwide Church of God, was aware of the king named Ollam Fodla.
In the Irish kings list in his Compendium of World History, an Ollam Fodla is dated 714-674 B.C., with the appended comment, “Not the later prophet Ollamh Fodhla”….In fact, tere is no second later Ollam Fodla in the Irish Annals, who may be identified with Jeremiah. There is only the ONE famous King Ollam Fodla.” — “Afterword on British-Israelism”, pp. 121-123
One of the leading authorities on Irish history — O’Flaherty’s “Ogygia” — makes PLAIN that Ollamh Fodhla was NOT the same person as Jeremiah:
“Ollamfodla, of the HOUSE OF HIR [IR — a son of Gathelus], the SON of king Fiach, slew Faldergod in the battle of Temor [Tara], and ascended the throne. He had FOUR SONS, viz. Finnacta, Slanoll, Ged, and Carbry, the progenitor of the Rudicians; from his name Ollamh, the name of ULSTER is said to be derived. He first instituted the assemblies of Temor [Tara], which were held every three years for enacting and executing laws.
This Ollan Fodla held court for seven days during Samhaim [Halloween week]: “Three days before, and so many after the FESTIVAL, WHICH WE CALL SAMHUIN [ALL-HALLOWS DAY — pagan Irish festival]…these solemn assemblies were celebrated with great pomp and ceremony….”
“He, being a man of great literary knowledge, is called Ollam-fodla, i.e. through Ireland which is called Fodla in our language, he was a great professor of learning…which he deservedly obtained on account of his extensive learning. He erected Mur-Ollamhan, i.e. the wall of the learned, at Tara. You may call it a college…an academy, or a lyceum….” (Vol. II, translated by James Hely. W. M’Kenzie, Dublin. 1793. Pp. 70-71).
Even Herman Hoeh, in his Irish chronology, places Ollam Fodhla’s reign as 714 to 674 B.C. — once again too early for Jeremiah. He gets around this, as we have seen, by stating that this is “not the later prophet Ollamh Fodhla!” However, there was ONLY ONE Ollam Fodhla in all of Irish history!
Let us now turn our attention to Jeremiah’s scribe Baruch. “The United States and Britain in Prophecy”, as quoted earlier, says, “With him [Ollam Fodhla/Jeremiah] was…a companion called “Simon Brach,” spelled in different histories as Brech, Berech, Brach, or Berach…can anyone deny…that his companion was Jeremiah’s scribe, or secretary, Baruch?”
Nothing in the annals links Ollam Fodla with Simon Brach. SECOND, Simon Brec is identified in the annals, according to Britannica (11th ed.), as a famous ancient warrior BEFORE the Milesians ever arrived in Ireland.
Other records in the annals spell his name “Breas” and say he was a leader of sea-robbers. This name WAS LIFTED OUT OF ITS CONTEXT in the annals nearly 1000 years earlier, and arbitrarily said to be “Baruch, the scribe,” who accompanied Jeremiah to Ireland in the 500’s BC.
“Actually, there is a SECOND tradition of Simon Brec in the annals. O’Flaherty’s Ogygia has “Siomon Breac” as a Milesian king in the 400’s BC.
It is surprising that both the Compendium and Joseph Allen’s Judah’s Sceptre book, have “Simeon Breac “which they already identified with BARUCH [Jeremiah’s scribe] listed in the line of kings several generations AFTER Tea Tephi, without comment or a hint of embarrassment. The Compendium lists Siomon Breac’s reign as 483-477 BC.
“It is evident that if Simeon Breac was an Irish King living generations after the alleged arrival of Jeremiah and Tea-Tephi, and if he was descended from earlier Irish kings, then HE CANNOT BE THE BIBLICAL BARUCH WITH JEREMIAH. — “Afterword on British-Israelism,” pp. 124-125.
Geoffrey Keating, in “The History of Ireland”, verifies the existence of the early SIMEON BREAC, who was the grandson of Neimheadh and the “sea-robber” mentioned in the eleventh edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica. (See Vol. I, pp. 179-191. The Irish Texts Society.) The second Simon — called SYMON BREK — is verified by Hector Boece in “The Chronicles of Scotland” as being a later KING OF IRELAND and far removed from the time of Jeremiah. (See Vol. I., pp. 27-30. William Blackwood & Sons, Ltd. Edinburgh. MCMXXXVIII).
The Stone of Scone
One night Jacob took a stone and probably placed his cloak on it to use it as a pillow. That night he had an encounter with God. He anointed the stone because God had been present there (Gen 28). To count the stone itself as significant is idolatry, just like idolizing the Ark or the Temple and not looking to the God who dwelt there: BOTH of which God allowed to be destroyed because they were being venerated above obedience to God.
God commanded Moses to put a figure of a serpent on a pole and those who looked on it would be healed (Num 21). The serpent on the pole was a figure of Christ dying for and taking on himself the sins of the people; and looking to it was a picture that God in the form of Christ would save all those who looked to him. Later Hezekiah destroyed the brazen serpent made by Moses because it had become an object of idolatry (2 kings 18:4).
Now consider that this stone of Jacob is never mentioned in scripture as having been moved anywhere or as even being known after that time, yet some will imagine – and it is pure fantasy; that this stone was some great thing, which is forbidden by God being idolatry; and falsely surmise that this same stone was taken by Jeremiah to Ireland, then to Scotland and would then REMAIN in England.
Brethren, Jacob’s pillow stone being the Coronation Stone is a made up idolatrous fantasy having absolutely no basis in fact. It is this kind of unscriptural fantasy which is also historically false which gives British Israel a bad name when BI is absolutely true.
The Truth About the Stone of Destiny
Kings everywhere are generally looked upon as not only rulers but representing the whole nation, and are often considered as a father figure for the nation, and of course kings are always looking for ways to enhance their mystique.
The ancient Scottish kings decided that they should be coronated over a symbol of Scotland, as an indicator that they were rulers of the whole land. Then as the symbol of the land it was decided to use a native stone, and a rectangle of native Scottish sandstone was carved out and placed under the Coronation Throne of Scotland.
Jacob’s pillow was a natural stone of the Middle East, while the Stone of Scone is CARVED local sandstone and the Irish stone was white Irish marble, while the stone does not remain in England but has now been repatriated to Scotland; see the differences?
The Coronation Stone is a carved rectangular block of red sandstone which was used for centuries in the coronation of the monarchs of Scotland, and later the coronation of the monarchs of England and Scotland in the United Kingdom. The stone is about 26 inches (660 mm) by 16.75 inches (425 mm) by 10.5 inches (270 mm) and its weight is approximately 336 pounds (152 kg). A cross is inscribed on it, and an iron ring is attached at each end.
The stone is “lower Old Red Sandstone”, which was quarried in the vicinity of Scone Scotland.
In 1296, the stone was captured by Edward I as spoils of war and taken to Westminster Abbey, where it was fitted into a wooden chair—known as King Edward’s Chair—on which most subsequent English sovereigns have been crowned as representing the United Kingdom of Scotland and England.
On 3 July 1996, it was announced in the House of Commons that the stone would be returned to Scotland, and on 15 November 1996, after a handover ceremony at the border between representatives of the Home Office and of the Scottish Office, it was transported to Edinburgh Castle.
Robert of Gloucester (1240-1300) wrote that the first Irish immigrants brought a stone with them into Scotland, stating it was a “whyte marble stone”. So, rather than the sandstone of the present Stone of Destiny, the Irish stone was white marble. Meaning that the two stones were quite different.
This Irish stone was brought to the British Isle as a bit of the homeland or souvenir, by a few Irish immigrants and the story was greatly embellished in the early 1600’s by Charles 1 to support his claim of divine right over religion. That Irish marble stone has been completely lost.
The Jacob Legend and the English War for Religious Freedom
During the reign of James 1 the king fancied himself a descendant of David and this belief passed on to his son Charles 1 who fought with Cromwell and Parliament over the divine rights of kings to dictate religion vs. religious freedom.
A rumor was started in the reign of James 1 claiming that British kings had Divine Right over religion.
The civil war began when king Charles 1 decreed that the Book of Common Prayer of his state church must be used in ALL churches in place of the Bible, and the story that the Stone of Scone coming from Jacob was a political invention to enhance the prestige and authority of the king.
The Lion and the Unicorn
The British lion comes from the appended name of the Norman king, Richard 1 as “Richard the Lionheart,” and refers to his might in battle and his pride as king. The lion being the king of beasts referred to royalty and national pride.
Biblically the lion is the symbol of Judah as the royal tribe, but the use of the lion as a royal symbol has nothing to do with the monarch being Jewish. The lion is a very common charge in heraldry. It traditionally symbolizes courage, nobility, royalty, strength, stateliness and valour, and because historically it has been regarded as the “king of beasts;” the lion symbol has naturally been taken as royal symbols in many monarchies.
The English royal arms included the three lions from the time of Richard I (reigned 1189–99) onwards. The Lion derived from the coat of arms of the Duchy of Aquitaine – Eleanor’s family. Naturally, of course, the Lion as a symbol of British “pride” and might, was forever identified with Eleanor’s fearless son, Richard I the Lionheart.
Unicorns were not specific to Israel and are seen in the early writings and drawings of many different countries and cultures, including Greece, Persia (now Iran), Rome, Egypt, India and Africa.
The unicorn was chosen as a symbol of Scotland because of its traditional independence, virility, strength, boldness, masculinity and pride. The unicorn was first used on the Scottish royal coat of arms by William I in the 12th century. In the 15th century, when King James III was in power, gold coins appeared with the unicorn on them.
In 1603 king James 1 [in England, James VI of Scotland] added the Scottish unicorn to the lion of England. Then the term “strong bull” was deliberately mistranslated as “unicorn” by the king James I translators, to support the insertion of the modern symbol of Scotland [the unicorn] into the Bible; because he, a Scottish king, believed that he was a king of Israel from the line of David.
The Scottish unicorn like the English lion has nothing to do with a Davidic monarchy and is simply an elegant figure of royalty, pride and strength.
The biblical word “unicorn” and the historical “unicorn” are two completely different things.
The historical one horned unicorn is an ancient myth which is sourced from India and the rhino. This gradually became a mythical horse-like creature.
The biblical term “unicorn” is mistranslated from wild bull #7214 and speaks to the strength of a great wild bull which cannot be harnessed.
A translation error, when Hebrew scripture was rendered into Greek, added to the allure of the creature now known as the unicorn. The wild ox, a now-extinct creature rendered in bas relief [side view] profiles with one horn, was translated in Greek as monokeros or one-horned. In the Latin bible of the Christian world that word became unicornos and then “unicorn” by the time the English translators of King James got to work. And so, God impresses His power upon Job by saying, “Will the unicorn [great wild ox] be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib? Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?”
The word unicorn is found in nine places in the KJV, every one of which speaks of great strength and is a mistranslated reference to the now extinct great wild ox.
- Numbers 23:22 “God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.”
- Numbers 24:8 “God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.”
- Job 39:9 “Will the unicorn be willing to serve thee, or abide by thy crib?”
- Job 39:10 “Canst thou bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?”
- Psalms 29:6 “He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.”
- Psalms 92:10 “But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.”
- Deuteronomy 33:17 “His glory is like the firstling of his bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh.”
- Psalms 22:21 “Save me from the lion’s mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.”
- Isaiah 34:7 “And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.”
Unicorns are not mentioned in any of the modern translations. Only in the King James version are they mentioned. Most of the modern translations say “wild ox.” Some translations even say “buffalo,” as in the Asian or African wild buffalo or water buffalo.
The Symbols of Judah, Ephraim and Manasseh
Judah was to be the royal tribe and to have the scepter, therefore Judah was symbolized by the lion. The proper symbol of Judah is the lion, NOT the six pointed star which is actually a symbol of modern Kabbalah Rabbinic Judaism and is NOT a symbol of Judah.
The lion is the symbol of Judah because Judah was the royal tribe, and the lion is a symbol of royalty. The lion being a symbol of royalty, Jeroboam and his successors could well have appropriated the lion as their own royal symbol.
The tribe of Reuben was deprived of the birthright double portion of the first born son, and the double portion was given to Joseph. The two sons of Joseph, Ephraim and Manasseh, each became tribes of Israel in their own right.
The symbols of Joseph are symbolized by a bull [Ephraim] and a sheaf of wheat [Manasseh].
Deuteronomy 33:13 And of Joseph he said, Blessed of the Lord be his land, for the precious things of heaven, for the dew, and for the deep that coucheth beneath [the riches under the land], 33:14 And for the precious fruits brought forth by the sun, and for the precious things put forth by the moon [blessings of great harvest from which comes the wheat sheaf symbol], 33:15 And for the chief things of the ancient mountains, and for the precious things of the lasting hills [forestry, minerals and mining], 33:16 And for the precious things of the earth and fulness thereof, and for the good will of him that dwelt in the bush [God’s blessings and protection]: let the blessing come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the top of the head of him that was separated from his brethren.
33:17 His glory is like the firstling of his bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns [H7214 meaning “his strong bull”; Due to the influence of James 1, this was mistranslated as unicorns in 1611]: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the [many] thousands of Manasseh.
The term “strong bull” was deliberately mistranslated as “unicorn” by the king James I translators, to insert the modern symbol of Scotland [the unicorn] into the Bible, because he, a Scottish king, believed that he was a king of Israel from the line of David.
The unicorn symbol was adopted from may ancient non Israelite traditions by the Scots in the Middle Ages, and was not an ancient symbol of Joseph! Further the unicorn was NEVER a symbol of David and the Davidic line!
The richness of the British peoples are obvious and cannot be denied. They are truly descended from Joseph and have inherited these blessings. That does not mean that they are ruled by a monarch of the House of David today!
To Sum Up
- The eternal throne promises were given to David, not to Zerah or Phares, and the entire argument concerning Zarah and Phares is an interesting but neither true nor relevant.
- Zarah did not migrate out of Pharonic Egypt and his descendants were among the people who returned to Judea from Babylon.
- The story of Jeremiah and Zedekiah’s daughters visiting Ireland is also pure fantasy.
- God had removed the ten tribes from Judah and the Davidic line, until the resurrected David would reunite them at the second coming of Christ.
- God also ended the Davidic line over Judah, after king Zedekiah.
- David was promised that he would be resurrected to rule a united Israel / Judah for all eternity, which promise requires the resurrection of David to eternal life.
Conclusion: No king of the Davidic line has ruled over any tribe of Israel since Solomon, and no Davidic king has ruled Judah since Zedekiah!
The Davidic line will be restored when Christ comes with the resurrected David and reunites Israel and Judah. Then the promise to David will be fulfilled, with David resurrected to eternal life and ruling over a united Israel for all eternity, under the King of kings of all humanity; Messiah the Christ!
Yes, today’s Anglo American peoples are the descendants of Joseph, and yes we are still divided from Judah and separated from the Davidic line; until Christ comes to resurrect the faithful dead, including David.
Only then will the ten tribes of Israel be restored to David and Judah, and only then will the tabernacle of David (Amos 9:10-11) be restored; with a David resurrected to eternal life ruling an Israel and Judah united by Christ at his coming: FOREVER and EVER!
Under the King of all kings, Jesus Christ; who will rule ALL humanity under God the Father!
