The Seven Last Plagues
While the multitudes of saints making up the collective bride of Christ stand on the vast expanse of glittering crystal before the temple of God in heaven (Rev 7:9, Rev 19); seven angels are given the seven bowls of God’s wrath to be poured out on the earth.
Revelation 16:1 And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.
The first viol or bowl was poured out on the earth and men were afflicted with grievous sores.
After witnessing the resurrection and change to spirit of the faithful, many in Israel will begin to repent and seek God’s deliverance; at the same time most of humanity will still follow their leaders, who fearing the loss of their positions continue to resist God.
This affliction was poured out on those who remain in rebellion against God and refuse to live by every Word of God.
16:2 And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast [all those who refuse to live by every Word of God], and upon them which worshipped his image.
The word “noisome” means disgusting, fetid, putrid, rotten, stinking; and is usually a reference to weeping sores which ooze pus and noxious material. The word grievous refers to extreme pain.
16:3 And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul [creature] died in the sea.
The second viol will follow quickly after the second, and the “sea” will be turned into a coagulated mess. This could refer to all seas or to just the Mediterranean Sea.
16:4 And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood. 16:5 And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus. 16:6 For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy. 16:7 And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.
The third angel poured out his viol and the open bodies of fresh water are polluted. People will need to dig wells for water as the Egyptians did when the Nile was turned to the same kind of bloody mess.
16:8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. 16:9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.
The fourth angel will cause the sun to flare with great heat upon the earth. This would affect the entire earth.
16:10 And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain, 16:11 And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.
Then the fifth angel obscured the light in the kingdom of the beast, so that his place will be plunged into complete darkness. This seems to be some kind of particulate like smoke or dense dust which prevents even artificial light from being seen.
After the beast [the New Europe, the seventh revival of the scarlet beast and its ruler] is counter attacked after he attacks Asia in the third year, he will move to Jerusalem as his last redoubt; and the armies of Asia will pursue him there.
Daniel 11:42 He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape. 11:43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.
11:44 But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.
11:45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
The Asian armies will counter attack Europe and will turn south towards Jerusalem in hot pursuit of the beast and false prophet, and the sixth angel will open the way for them by drying up the river Euphrates.
Remember all of these things are being poured out during the Marriage Banquet Feast of the Lamb, given by God the Father in heaven to celebrate the resurrection of the early harvest and their complete unity with the Father and the Son!
Along with the rejoicing, duties and responsibilities of the many offices will be assigned and the kingdom will be organized before they return to the earth.
Revelation 16:12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.
As the Euphrates dries up and these armies gather before Jerusalem, demons will go forth to deceive all of these nations to agree together to resist the coming of Christ with his saints.
16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 16:14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
Then Jesus Christ will come to take and rule the Kingdom WITH his resurrected saints (Jude) and he will destroy wickedness and rule the earth in righteousness. This is not referring to the resurrection of the bride which already happened as the seventh trump began to sound.
These viols of plagues will be poured out while the wedding feast is taking place in heaven; after the resurrection and before Christ comes with them to rule the earth.
Blessed is the one who is watching and keeping himself from joining the rebellious!
16:15 Behold, I come [to rule, coming suddenly and surprising the wicked] as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments [is clothed with righteousness, referring to those repenting during this time], lest he walk naked [of righteousness], and they see his shame [the shame of our wickedness is revealed].
16:16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon [the armies outside Jerusalem will mass on a plateau north of Jerusalem].
Now the seventh angel pours out his viol and Jesus Christ will come from the Marriage of the Lamb in heaven, back to the earth WITH his saints.
Zechariah 14:2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
Jesus Christ will come with the resurrected faithful and destroy te armies of teh wicked.
14:3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
14:5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.
14:6 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark: 14:7 But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.
Revelation 16:17 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.
The seventh vial represents the coming of Christ with his chosen second 144,000 to the Mount of Olives and their entry into Jerusalem to set up a world government, while vast numbers of other resurrected chosen will arrive in the various nations around the earth to take over local administration.
16:18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.
Revelation 16:19 refers to the great earthquake spoken of in Zechariah 14:4-5. This is the Zechariah earthquake which splits the Mount of Olives and shakes the whole earth as Messiah the Christ arrives with the resurrected faithful.
16:19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.
16:20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.
16:21 And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.
Consider that all these events including the movement of mighty armies could not take place in the one day of the resurrection of the bride as the seventh trump began to sound. These plagues were poured out while the saints stood before the Temple of God in heaven over approximately 45 days.
The key to understanding this is the difference between the 1,290 days and the 1,335 days of Daniel 12. The resurrection is at the end of 1,290 days AFTER the man of sin is set up doing miracles, and the final plagues take some days to be poured out.
Be careful here, the 1,335 days could mark the setting up of God’s kingdom on Pentecost, or it could refer to Christ’s coming to destroy the wicked and arrest Satan and his demons; and then wait for a few days until Pentecost for God’s Spirit to be poured out (Joel 2:28) and begin the Kingdom of God over all the earth.
Remember that after Israel arrived at Sinai they waited several days before God appeared on Mt Sinai, and the disciples waited for ten days after Christ’s ascension before Pentecost came.
