Psalms 90 – 95

Psalm 90

The LORD has lived through all the generations of man, indeed the LORD was before man existed and God created all that is

Psalm 90:1 Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.  90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

All flesh is born and all flesh dies and returns to the earth, but God lives forever.

90:3 Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return [to dust], ye children of men.

The Eternal God lives forever.

90:4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

2 Peter 3:8   But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Physical creatures grow like the grass and flowers, lasting for a short time and then passing away.

Psalm 90:5 Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.  90:6 In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.

Carnal man is hostile to the Word of God; unconverted physical humanity cannot understand the things of God and is doomed to death and the grave.

Romans 8:7  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

The human mind rebels against the Word of God which brings life; and man dies as a result of rejecting the way to life.

Psalm 90:7 For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.

God knows our every sin and he knows all our rebellions against the way to life.

90:8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.  90:9 For all our days are passed away in [All humanity lives in bondage to sin and we are doomed to everlasting death, unless God saves us.]  thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.

90:10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten [70 years]; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore [80] years, yet is their strength [Our years in bondage to Satan, sin and death are full of sorrows.] labour and sorrow; for it [life] is soon cut off, and we fly away [pass away]

God’s power and his anger at sin has been recorded in a true record throughout the scriptures, and the wrath of God the Father and Jesus Christ at our refusal to live by every Word of God is very real, because God loves us and he does not want anyone to perish.

God corrected Israel and Judah many times for not living by the Word of God and he will do so again.

90:11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear [God’s awesome reputation of anger against sin], so is thy wrath.

Instead of relying on our own ways and the traditions of men which bring death; we ought to seek life and righteousness from God and we should live by every Word of God in Christ-like zeal.

90:12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom [God’s Word is Wisdom].

A prayer of repentance and plea for God’s mercy.

90:13 Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.  90:14 O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

When God’s correction has brought us to sincere  repentance, we will be glad that we were saved from bondage to Satan, sin and eternal death by God’s correction and have been turned to God and eternal life in peace and prosperity.

90:15 Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil.

May God’s correction of our wickedness bear the bountiful fruit of sincere repentance.

90:16 Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.

The correction and affliction of the flesh is intended to save us spiritually to eternal life.

90:17 And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.

Psalm 91

If we – like Jesus did and does – put our trust in the Almighty Father to live by every Word of God; God the Father himself will be our refuge and deliverer from the grave and death, and we shall live forever with him.

Psalm 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret [Most Holy Place] place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.  91:2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.  91:3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare [the snare of sin] of the fowler [Satan], and from the noisome pestilence [death].

91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers [poetic for God’s protection], and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth [God’s Word is Truth] shall be thy shield and buckler.

If we put our trust in God to live by every Word of God we need not fear death or the grave because our Mighty God will deliver his faithful from death to eternal life.

91:5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;  91:6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

Poetically speaking of the second death, even if we see thousands of wicked people fall around us, the faithful to live by every Word of God will live forever.

91:7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it [death] shall not come nigh thee. 91:8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

The faithful to live by every Word of God will be delivered from death to eternal life, while the unrepentant wicked will perish.

A prophecy of Jesus Christ

91:9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;  91:10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.  91:12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. 91:13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

91:14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I [God the Father] deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.

91:15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.

Jesus Christ was resurrected to eternal life as the first born of many others who will also be resurrected to eternal life for their faithful Christ-like zeal to live by every Word of God the Father.

91:16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Psalm 92

A prophecy of the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the first of many more

It is good to rejoice in the mighty deeds of deliverance of our God for his beloved faithful.

Psalm 92:1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name O MOST HIGH:  92:2 To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night,  92:3 Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.

92:4 For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work [of salvation and resurrection]: I will triumph [over sin and death] in the works of thy hands [by the power of God]92:5 O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.

Carnal minds cannot even begin to understand the wisdom and works of God, the unrepentant wicked flourish only for a moment and will then perish forever.

92:6 A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.  92:7 When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:

God is from everlasting and those who delight in the righteousness of every Word of God shall live forever.

92:8 But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore.

The unrepentant wicked will perish in their sins, but those who delight to live by every Word of God will live forever.

92:9 For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.

92:10 But my horn [strength, life] shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil [a type of the Holy Spirit].

92:11 Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies [Satan and sin], and mine ears shall hear my desire [The day will come when we will hear that all wickedness is at an end.] of the wicked that rise up against me.

The LORD the Righteous, will bless his faithful with eternal life, peace and all good things in the resurrection.

 92:12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 92:13 Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts [presence] of our God. 92:14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat [blessed] and flourishing;

92:15 To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

Psalm 93

God the Father rules from heaven and on a soon coming Feast of Pentecost Messiah the Christ will establish the Kingdom of God over all the earth

God the Father and the one who gave up his God-hood to become flesh as Jesus Christ and died in sacrifice for sin and was then resurrected back to his former glory, are the present two members of the YHVH family of Elohim.

Psalm 93:1 The LORD [YHVH] reigneth [God the Father rules from heaven and Jesus Christ the Son will be King of kings ruling all nations from Jerusalem.], he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.

93:2 Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.

Many waters are an allegory of all nations who will lift up their voice in rejoicing and praise of God when they are delivered from bondage to Satan and sin, and ultimately from death itself.

Revelation 17:15  And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

Psalm 93:3 The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves.

93:4 The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters [God is greater than all peoples], yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.

Every Word of God is pure and holy and true.

Romans 7:12  Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

God’s people are to be set apart from worldliness to live by every Word of God.

John 17:17  Sanctify them [living by every Word of God will set us apart from sin]  through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Psalm 93:5 Thy testimonies are very sure [God’s Word is everlasting]: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever.

Psalm 94

Psalm 94 speaks of the actions of the wicked and God’s ultimate deliverance of the sincerely repentant

It is important to understand that wicked people have been deceived and inspired by that ultimate source of evil, Satan; the Adversary of God. Therefore they are not our real enemies; our real enemies are Satan, sin and death.

Most wicked people are deceived and being used by that ultimate wicked being, who is the one which will ultimately be totally destroyed while the vast majority of evil people will ultimately sincerely repent and be saved.

We are not to seek our own revenge, it is up to God to make a final judgment.

Psalm 94:1 O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.

Let us call upon our God in sincere repentance; calling on Him for our deliverance.  This speaks of deliverance at any time, but is a specific prophecy of the people calling for Messiah to come and deliver them from their affliction during the tribulation.

94:2 Lift up thyself, thou judge [the King of kings will come to the earth and will rule in justice] of the earth: render a reward to [to correct the proud who live in their own wicked ways] the proud.

94:3 LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph? 94:4 How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves? 94:5 They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage. 94:6 They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.

This is about the wicked afflicting the truly faithful of God in all ages, but is specifically a prophecy of the tribulation just before the coming of Messiah the Christ to judge [rule] the earth.

94:7 Yet they [the wicked will] say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it [what we do].

God knows the minds of all men and he will chastise the evil doers and will deliver the sincerely repentant who become zealous to live by every Word of God.

94:8 Understand, ye brutish [those who will not live by  God’s Word] among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise? 94:9 He that planted [created] the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see [the wicked things we do]? 94:10 He that chastiseth the heathen [the unconverted], shall not he correct [those God has called out to live by His Word]? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know [the ultimate source of truth and knowledge knows what men do]94:11 The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity [wickedness bringing death].

Speaking of the people that God chastens by afflicting the flesh to save the spirit, such people are indeed blessed if they accept their chastisement (Heb 12:6-8) and turn to live by every Word of God their Father.  Those who sincerely repent and turn to the Eternal will be greatly blessed.

94:12 Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law; 94:13 That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.

Hebrews 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 12:7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 12:8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

When we sincerely repent and turn to the Eternal he will remember us and deliver us.  This is a prophecy about the coming of Messiah to deliver humanity after the trial of affliction that is to come upon all the earth.

Psalm 94:14 For the LORD will not cast off his people [those who love God enough to live by every Word of God], neither will he forsake his inheritance. 94:15 But judgment [correction] shall [shall bring repentance and godly righteousness] return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.

It is God the Eternal who will deliver the sincerely repentant who turn to the righteousness of living by every Word of God.

94:16 Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity? 94:17 Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.

When we unintentionally slip, our Maker will deliver us if we acknowledge our sin and call out to God.

94:18 When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.

The zealous people of God find comfort in thinking on and living by every Word of God.

94:19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.

God will have nothing to do with iniquity and the unrepentant wicked, and neither should the godly except by necessity of living on this earth.

1 Corinthians 5:9  I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: 5:10  Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. 5:11  But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

Psalm 94:20 Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with [How can iniquity have anything to do with God who outlaws iniquity?] thee, which frameth mischief [reveals iniquity by defining and outlawing it] by a law?

Will the God who makes laws to end iniquity have anything to do with iniquity?

The wicked despise and persecute the godly righteous, but the Eternal delivers the faithful.  This is a prophecy about Messiah delivering the sincerely repentant in the resurrection to spirit at his coming.

94:21 They [the wicked who will not live by every Word of God] gather themselves together against the soul [life] of the righteous [those who do live by every Word of God], and condemn the innocent blood.

Messiah the Christ will defend God’s people and will raise them up when he comes.

94:22 But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.

The unrepentant wicked will be cut off from the land of the living.

94:23 And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.

Psalm 95

Psalm 95 is a song of praise and joy over the deliverance of those who have turned in sincere repentance to live by every Word of God

This song is about coming before the Eternal in worship and is also a prophecy about the literal coming of Christ to deliver the people and to rule all nations as King of kings and Lord of all lords.

At that time the ultimate source of evil will be removed for one thousand years and all remaining people will repent, then God’s Spirit will be poured out on all flesh (Joel 2:28).

After Christ comes and builds the Ezekiel Temple, all nations will come into his presence with great rejoicing because he has bound Satan and saved humanity and he will teach all humanity the Righteousness of the Word of God to eternal salvation (Is 11:10, 42:1-6, 49:6. 60:3-5).

Psalm 95:1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. 95:2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

Messiah the Christ together with God the Father is above all gods including that would be god, Satan himself.

The greatness of God

95:3 For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. 95:4 In his hand [control] are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also. 95:5 The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.

If we will only hear and live by every Word of God, we shall receive God’s deliverance and inherit all good things.

95:6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker. 95:7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice,

Those who resist the Word of God refusing to obey and live by every Word of God, and insisting on doing whatever seems right in their own eyes; will not enter into the Promised Land of eternal life.

95:8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness: 95:9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work. 95:10 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: 95:11 Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.
