David thanks God because he is near to delivering his people
Psalm 75:1 Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.
When Jesus Christ comes he will rule all nations in the justice of every Word of God as King of kings
75:2 When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly.
The earth itself will ultimately be made molten by fire after the millennium and after the Feast of Tabernacles ingathering of nations; but God will preserve it, making the earth anew; and God will judge and rule the resurrected nations by the righteousness of every Word of God.
75:3 The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah.
2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
All humanity will be called to sincere repentance, to turn to and live by every Word of God
75:4 I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn [do not be lifted up with pride]: 75:5 Lift not up your horn [power, self-exaltation] on high: speak not with a stiff neck [stubborn self-will].
God will judge all people justly: It is God who will exalt his faithful, and it is God who will correct the wicked
75:6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. 75:7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.
The wine of the wrath of God will be poured out on all those who refuse to live by every Word of God
75:8 For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.
The righteous will be glad when the LORD comes to deliver God’s faithful from the grave and correct the wicked
75:9 But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
The strength of those who live by every Word of God shall be greatly increased, while the power of the wicked will vanish forevermore
75:10 All the horns [power, strength] of the wicked also will I cut off [totally destroy]; but the horns [power, strength] of the righteous shall be exalted.
A prophecy of the coming of Messiah the Christ as King of kings
When Messiah the Christ comes, all Israel and Judah will sincerely repent and all Israel shall turn to and know God
Psalm 76:1 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel. 76:2 In Salem [Jerusalem, which shall be known as the city of peace] also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.
When Christ comes he will come to Jerusalem and he will break the power of the wicked
76:3 There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.
Messiah’s victory over the wicked at Jerusalem will be complete
76:4 Thou [Messiah the Christ] art more glorious and excellent [much wiser and more powerful] than the mountains of prey [governments that make war].
When Christ comes with his resurrected chosen, the wicked will either sincerely repent or perish
76:5 The stouthearted [the wicked are overcome] are spoiled, they have slept their sleep [perished in death]: and none of the men of might have [none of the wicked have any strength against Messiah] found their hands.
At the rebuke of the coming Christ, the mightiest of the wicked shall fall
76:6 At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep [destruction, death].
No one will be able to stand against God or resist the coming Christ
76:7 Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?
When the King of kings comes he will rule all nations in the justice and righteousness of every Word of God
76:8 Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still, 76:9 When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.
Those who survive will have their eyes opened and will sincerely repent to praise God, and people will no longer resist God
76:10 Surely the wrath [mankind’s enmity against God will vanish and men will serve God when God’s Spirit is poured out (Joel 2:28)] of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain [Satan will be removed and man’s resistance to God will vanish].
The people will then repent and make a baptismal commitment to live by every Word of God, and they will serve God the Father and Messiah the Christ
76:11 Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.
When Christ comes he will destroy the power and pride of the nations, and HE will rule over all nations as King of kings, with his faithful servants ruling the individual nations
76:12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible [kings and princes will be awed and cowed to submission by the King of kings] to the kings of the earth.
