Psalms 33 – 34

Psalm 33

Praise God for his Holy Righteous Word

Psalm 33:1 Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous [God is righteousness,  and living by every Word of God is righteousness.]: for praise [God is worthy of praise] is comely for the upright. 33:2 Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.  33:3 Sing unto him a new song [of praise]; play [music] skilfully with a loud noise.

Every Word of God is righteousness and truth

33:4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.  33:5 He loveth righteousness and judgment [justice]: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.

Jesus Christ taught that we are to live by every Word of God (Mat 4:4)  and Paul taught that:
Romans 7:12  Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

Psalm 33:6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth [the words coming from God’s mouth].

By God’s command the waters were gathered and the land raised up above the waters in Genesis 1:6-10.

33:7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses.

Let every person respect, glorify and stand in awe of the Great Creator God the Father and the Son.

33:8 Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. 33:9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

God will bring the stratagems of deceivers to nothing; and God’s purpose will be accomplished

33:10 The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.

The Will and Word of God will stand forever, blessed are those who are called to God and who faithfully live by every Word of God and exalt the Eternal above all else

33:11 The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.  33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

God knows the hearts of all men and no person is able to hide anything from God.

33:13 The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men. 33:14 From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth. 33:15 He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.

There is no place to hide from God’s judgment and there is no power in men to resist the will and judgment of God.

33:16 There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.  33:17 An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.

God is just and he will deliver all those who love him enough to live by his Word and put their hope and trust in HIM; raising them up to eternal life

33:18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;  33:19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

The LORD is the Deliverer of all those who put their trust in him to follow him whithersoever he goeth (Rev 14:3) in living by every Word of God.

33:20 Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield. 33:21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.  33:22 Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope [let us put our trust in, and live by every Word of God] in thee.

Psalm 34

Rejoicing over God’s deliverance from the grave and the resurrection to spirit.

A prophecy of Messiah the Christ and his resurrection as the first of many to also be delivered from the grave.

Psalm 34:1 I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. 34:2 My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. 34:3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.

When we live by every Word of God the Father in Christ-like zeal; God will deliver us from fear of death and the grave.

34:4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. 34:5 They [the faithful]  looked [put their trust in God to live by every Word of God]  unto him, and were lightened [enlightened with truth and encouraged]: and their faces were not ashamed [because God keeps his promises].

34:6 This poor [God will hear the humble and those poor in the spirit of self-will.]  man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. 34:7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him [God delivers those who love and respect him enough to live by his Word], and delivereth them.

God is good and full of mercy and deliverance for all those who put their trust in him to live by every Word of God.

34:8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. 34:9 O fear [greatly respect and hold in awe] the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want [there is no lack of deliverance from sin and death] to them that fear him.

Even though the mighty perish, God’s faithful will be preserved in the resurrection to eternal life.

34:10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.

34:11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear [love, faithful obedience, awe and respect] of the LORD.

If we desire victory over bondage to Satan and sin and the gift of eternal life; then we must learn to live by every Word of God.

34:12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? 34:13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. 34:14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue [godliness, for only God is good] it.

God the Father watches over and will deliver from death and the grave all those who love him enough to live by every Word of God.

34:15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.

God the Father will destroy all those who refuse to live by every Word of God, rejecting God and the truth of his Word.

34:16 The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

God’s Word is righteousness and the righteous will live by every Word of God.  God will deliver all those who passionately live by every Word of God in the resurrection to spirit.

34:17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart  [are sincerely repentant, abhorring their sins]; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

The proud stubborn spirit of self-will will be crushed to powder and submissive humility before God.

God will deliver those who live by every Word of God, but the wicked shall perish in their unrepentant wickedness.

34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.  34:20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken [a prophecy of the death and resurrection of Christ the righteous].

34:21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous [Those who despise God’s faithful who are zealous to live by every Word of God, and who do not sincerely repent; will NOT be in the resurrection to spirit, even if they have been baptized and attend some corporate assembly.] shall be desolate.

34:22 The LORD redeemeth the soul [lives] of his servants [by the blood sacrifice of the Lamb of God]: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.
