Psalms 119:49 – 96

119:49 Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.

119:50 This [God’s Word] is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened [gives life] me.

The zealous to live by every Word of God are despised by the rebellious and the lukewarm, yet the faithful continue in the ways of God.

119:51 The proud have had me greatly in derision: yet have I not declined from thy law.

Those who love God in truth remember all of God’s Word and all of his judgments, for God’s Spirit brings these things to continual remembrance.

119:52 I remembered thy judgments of old, O Lord; and have comforted myself.

The zealous for the wisdom of God are horrified by the lukewarm compromising of Laodicea, today’s Church of God, and the wickedness of the nations.

119:53 Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy law.

In our physical lives of pilgrimage on this earth, God’s laws and statutes are our chief joy and we sing [rejoice] of them in our hearts always.

119:54 Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.

Let the faithful always remember the Law Giver and keep his wondrous law.

119:55 I have remembered thy name, O Lord, in the night, and have kept thy law.

Those who diligently live by God’s law and his teachings always, will rejoice in the wisdom of God’s Word.

119:56 This I had, because I kept thy precepts.

The godly have cast their lot with the Eternal, just like a faithful wife has bonded herself to her loving husband; and we shall never be moved from keeping his Word.

We give ourselves with all our hearts to live by every Word of God seeking the compassion of our Lord.

119:57 Thou art my portion, O Lord: I have said [made a commitment to live by God’s Word] that I would keep thy words.

119:58 I intreated thy favour with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to thy word.

The godly wise consider their own ways and reject the evil, sincerely repenting and turning to the teachings and examples of righteousness of every Word of God.

Let us make haste to obey our Master who has bought us for a great price.

1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Psalm 119:59 I thought on my [own] ways, and [repented of them to turn to the ways of God] turned my feet unto thy testimonies.  119:60 I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.

Our espousal to the Lamb is [like all marriages] for rich or poor, in good and bad times, and is an eternal commitment of marriage to the Mighty One of Jacob!

119:61 The bands of the wicked have robbed me: but I have not forgotten thy law.

Day and night we are grateful to our LORD for his mercies, wisdom and righteous judgments.

119:62 At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments.

We should associate whenever possible with those who are zealous for our Lord like ourselves.

119:63 I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts.

119:64 The earth, O Lord, is full of thy mercy: teach me thy statutes.

God is faithful to his Word and he will keep all of his promises; therefore we seek to learn and internalize every Word of God.

119:65 Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O Lord, according unto thy word. 119:66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments.

When we went astray God corrected and saved us; and now we burn with love for every Word of God.

Very soon now God will correct his straying flock in the affliction of great tribulation so that by afflicting the flesh the spirit can be saved.

119:67 Before I was afflicted [corrected] I went astray: but now have I [because of God’s merciful correction the straying brethren will sincerely repent and they will turn to live by every Word of God forever] kept thy word.

God is good and the Word of God is holy and just and true (Romans 7:12).

119:68 Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes.

The proud and wicked persecute the zealous because of their love and Christ-like zeal for every Word of God.

119:69 The proud have forged a lie against me: but I will keep thy precepts with my whole heart.

The wicked prosper in physical things, but the godly delight in God’s Word and will not be tempted or bribed to do evil.

119:70 Their heart is as fat as grease; but I delight in thy law.

Rejoice in trials (Rom 5:3) for they mold us into whatever the Master Potter desires us to become.

119:71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted [corrected]; that I might [repent from every false way; to learn the Word of God] learn thy statutes.

God’s Word brings life eternal in peace and harmony with God and man. That is of far more value than any transitory wealth or position in this evil world.

119:72 The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver.

We were made by God and we NEED God to teach us the way to live, God loves us and he has given us the wisdom of his Word and Law to direct us into the way that brings eternal life. We need to seek understanding from the one who made us.

119:73 Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.

Those dedicated to God will rejoice when God teaches them the Word of Life Eternal. The zealous will also rejoice when they have leaders and elders who are filled with enthusiasm for God and his Word; and teach God’s Word to the faithful.

The job of an elder is to teach zeal for all of God’s Word including God’s teachings, laws, precepts, doctrine and judgments; and NOT to organize sports events or even the Feast; organizing events is a job for deacons, so that elders will have time for study and meditate on God and his Word!

119:74 They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word.

God’s correction is just and is for the purpose of saving the spirit by afflicting the flesh.

This thinking that a terrible Assyria or enemy is to attack us because we are so righteous is just plain garbage. Yes, they are evil, as all men are sinful; but we are NOT righteous, except in our own eyes.

God is all powerful and he will allow us to be corrected for our own wickedness, and to make that absolutely plain God is giving a solid warning and then he will ask us to make our choice to heed the warning or face correction.

If any of the Ekklesia is in the tribulation, it will be OUR OWN FAULT; for we have been thoroughly warned.

If we are so afflicted, let us rejoice in that affliction, because it means that God loves us and is working to save us and bring us to repentance and a true zeal for God and respect for his judgments.

119:75 I know, O Lord, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted [corrected] me.

When we have learned our lesson and have sincerely repented, Lord be merciful to us.

119:76 Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to thy word unto thy servant.

119:77 Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: for thy law is my delight.

Let those who are too proud to repent and who afflict the faithful, be ashamed of their works which will come to nothing. Let the faithful meditate on the teachings of God’s Word always and be zealous for God with all our beings.

119:78 Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: but I will meditate in thy precepts.

Let the hearts of the called out understand the examples of scripture and be established on every Word of God.

119:79 Let those that fear thee turn unto me, and those that have known thy testimonies.  119:80 Let my heart be sound [remain always firm] in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed.

God’s faithful long for deliverance from bondage to Satan, sin and death, and our only hope is in the Word of God.

119:81 My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I hope in thy word.

The godly faithful wait for the Kingdom of God, longing for its coming. God will comfort his faithful with the Kingdom of righteousness and ultimately all wickedness will be destroyed from off the earth.

119:82 Mine eyes fail for thy word, saying, When wilt thou comfort me?

In this world God’s faithful are distressed by all the evils we see as we wait in anxious expectation for the deliverance of the kingdom of God.

119:83 For I am become like a bottle [burned in the fire] in the smoke [the faithful learn patient persevering godliness through their sufferings]; yet do I not forget thy statutes.

In this life the zealous for God are persecuted and suffer oppression even in their congregations. When will God complete the process and bring judgment on the wicked and righteousness to all the earth with his Kingdom?

Our lives are very short, deliver us speedily LORD.

119:84 How many are the days of thy servant? when wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me?

Those who are not zealous to live by every Word of God dig pits and lay snares for the faithful, to try and turn the zealous away from their wholehearted zeal for godliness; but their persecution only makes the zealous even more zealous and brings them closer to God, while sifting out the faithless.

119:85 The proud have digged pits for me, which are not after thy law.

The zealous will be strong for their God and they will run to their Mighty One to save them in their trials. He helps them and they rejoice continually in God’s Word.

119:86 All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me.

The faithful of God will never willfully – knowingly, turn from his Word.

Those who are enthusiastic for God will almost perish from the earth before the coming of our Lord with his just judgments, yet the faithful will never forsake the Word of God even unto death itself.

119:87 They had almost consumed me upon earth; but I forsook not thy precepts.

The faithfully zealous to live by every Word of God will be quickened to life everlasting and they will rise up in a change into spirit to rule the nations, teaching the Word and Law of God to all of humanity in the Kingdom of God!

Those who are faithfully zealous for God and ALL his ways throughout the sufferings and persecutions of this life will be qualified to teach these things in the Kingdom:  Just as Jesus Christ learned through the things that he suffered, and being faithful to the Father in all things, qualified to be our eternal High Priest and the Ruler of the Kingdom of God on the earth.

119:88 Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth.

The Word of God is forever

119:89 For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.  119:90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.  119:91 They continue [the heavens and earth remain] this day according to thine ordinances: for all are thy servants [God controls everything].

The godly faithful who enthusiastically delight in God’s Word and live by it fully; shall receive life eternal.

119:92 Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction. 119:93 I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened [the godly who live by every Word of God will be resurrected to life everlasting] me.

God will save all those who are zealous to live by every Word of God.

119:94 I am thine, save me: for I have sought thy precepts.

The faithful will learn from the examples and instructions of scripture, and they will overcome the plans of the enemy who seeks to destroy us with persecutions and with temptations to sin.

119:95 The wicked have waited [set an ambush for the godly] for me to destroy me: but I will consider thy testimonies.

All physical things will end, but the Word of God will continue forever.

119:96 I have seen an end of all [physical] perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding broad [great, everlasting].
