Proverbs 2 – 3

Proverbs 2

Proverbs 2:1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;  2:2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;  2:3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;  2:4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;  2:5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

If we diligently seek out the wisdom contained in the Word of God to LEARN IT and to DO IT; then we will be given the gift of God’s Holy Spirit to teach and lead us into the godly wisdom which brings eternal life.  To willfully compromise with the Word of God is to play the fool to our own destruction.

Acts 5:32   And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

The Word of God is TRUTH and eternal WISDOM.  Whoever turns aside from the Word of God the Father is a fool rushing to his own destruction.

Wisdom comes by diligent study; and by rejecting all error and living every Word of God as we learn!

Proverbs  2:6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

Brethren today’s church organizations have quenched God’s Spirit of wisdom, because they will not obey God and instead exalt men, corporations and false traditions above the Word of God.

2:7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous [those who live by every Word of God]: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly [in obedience to God the Father]. 2:8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his [faithful zealous] saints.

Romans 2:13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

If we prayerfully study, seeking understanding from God the Father; if we diligently think and meditate on the things of God day and night; if we then apply them to live by every Word of God, making a baptismal commitment to STOP sinning:  then we will be justified by the application of the sacrifice of the Lamb of God.

Proverbs 2:9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

When we love the wisdom of the Word of God and it becomes our most ardent desire; then we will learn the path to eternal life and become UNITED with Jesus Christ and with God the Father.

2:10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;  2:11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

When we learn and apply the wisdom of God’s Word, obeying God without compromise; we will be delivered from bondage to sin and the darkness of death.

2:12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;  2:13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;  2:14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;  2:15 Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

In scripture, women can be symbols of religions, and loose women are symbolic of disloyalty to God.

2:16 To deliver thee from the strange woman [false religions], even from the stranger [from the false teacher who leads astray with clever enticing words] which flattereth with her words;  2:17 Which forsaketh [apostatizes from] the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant [of obedience to her Lord] of her God.

The wisdom of God’s Word fills us with the knowledge of truth and delivers us from all false doctrines and false religions.  Those who take a stand on the Word of God the Father and Jesus Christ will be delivered from all false doctrines and the cunningly devised fables of false teachers.

Those who compromise with the wisdom of keeping all of God’s Word are following the path to destruction.

2:18 For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.  2:19 None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

Those who fall to the enticement of loose women, do so to their own hurt; and those who are enticed by alluring words to follow false doctrines and idols of men, do so to their own destruction, unless they quickly and sincerely repent.

Only God is righteous and we must become like God; Believing, Thinking and Living as God does; in complete UNITY with God the Father and Jesus Christ; through internalizing their very nature by faithfully keeping every Word of God.

2:20 That thou mayest walk in the way of good [like godly people] men, and keep the paths of the righteous [of God].

Those who love the every Word of God the Father and Jesus Christ will be chosen to be a part of the bride of Christ and inherit eternal life.

2:21 For the upright shall dwell in the land [the godly will be resurrected and enter the spiritual Promised Land of eternal life], and the perfect shall remain in it [forever].

We are to enthusiastically and fully internalize Jesus Christ and God the Father; retaining no trace of past false traditions, worldliness or any teachings of the Adversary.

2:22 But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

Those who willfully compromise with the Word of God and who think that Jesus Christ will overlook unrepentant sin and the tolerance of false doctrines [teachings] diverse from those of Scripture shall inherit strong correction, and if they will not sincerely repent they will see destruction.

Proverbs 3

Brethren, Proverbs is our heavenly Father speaking to us through Solomon; teaching us the way to life eternal, peace and all that is good.

Proverbs is Jesus Christ instructing us through Solomon about what is required of us to be chosen as a part of HIS bride; and all that is required for the bride to be a good wife for all eternity.

Our Father in heaven tells not to forget to KEEP his law and his commandments and to live by every Word of God!  Why?  Because they are the way to peace and eternal life!

Anyone who is NOT zealous to live by every Word of God is not zealous for his own life and rushes down the path to his own destruction.

Proverbs 3:1 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:  3:2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

Do what GOD says is right; Do NOT Do what you think is right, or what some other person thinks is right!  Stand on the Word of God at all times.  If an elder [or anyone else] says something:  Study it and PROVE IT OUT!

1 Thessalonians 5:21   Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

Avoid even the appearance of wrongdoing.

5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

Proverbs 3:3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee [for the repentant who turn away from sin]: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:  3:4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

Be merciful to the honestly repentant and forgive them, just as Jesus Christ is merciful and forgiving of the sincerely repentant.  We should never bear grudges against anyone, including the unrepentant; but rather pray that all involved will learn from the experience.

3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Today many in the scattered organizations calling themselves the Church of God are full of pride and wise in their own eyes [Laodicean].  They stand on their own opinions and openly reject much of the Word of God to maintain their own false traditions’  This is the road to destruction!

Rather let us humble ourselves and repent before our espoused Husband and embrace every Word of God the Father so that we may become spiritually healthy and right before God.

Exalt the Word of God Above All Else!

3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.   3:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.   3:8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Thinking that Jesus Christ will not mind if we sin by going to buy on God’s Sabbath because that gives us physical pleasure, is the attitude of Esau who also sold his birthright for a bit of physical pleasure.

3:9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:  3:10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

Give to God what is his and do not be greedy of personal gain, wealth or the chief seats of power.

3:11 My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:  3:12 For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

Always accept correction, always be willing to admit error; in so doing you will GROW in UNITY with Jesus Christ and God the Father.

This who reject the truth to stand on false traditions, are foolishly rejecting the knowledge that brings them into UNITY with Jesus Christ and God the Father.

3:13 Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

To have UNITY with God the Father and Jesus Christ, and to grow in their wisdom, we must internalize every Word of God.  This brings great spiritual assurance in the promises of God; thereby bringing faith, peace, happiness, contentment and the certainty of the resurrection to eternal life.

3:14 For the merchandise of it [Godly Wisdom] is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.  3:15 She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

The value of zealous faithful internalizing and KEEPING the wisdom of God [which is every Word of God] is far greater than any physical wealth:  True godliness abides for all eternity!

3:16 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.  3:17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.  3:18 She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

The faithful seeking of godly understanding and a dedicated obedience to God, brings eternal life and a rich reward.

3:19 The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.  3:20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

By his wisdom, God has fashioned the universe and all that is in it; what is man that he would decide right and wrong for himself like Eve in the garden?

3:21 My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:  3:22 So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.

Our Father in heaven admonishes us to live by every Word of God, and to carefully weigh all our actions according to God’s Word.

3:23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.  3:24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

By diligently studying to learn and live by every Word of God we are kept from stumbling over sin.  When we are zealous for God, we can know that God will take care of us and our faithfulness brings peace of mind.

Malachi 3:16   Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name. 3:17 And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

The zealous and faithful KEEPERS of every Word of God need have no fear when desolation and tribulation falls on the wicked; for the godly faithful are God’s precious jewels.

Proverbs 3:25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.  3:26 For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

Do not fear to do good to God and man by obeying God the Father, setting an example of godliness for all people.

3:27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it.  3:28 Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.

Do not bear grudges or imagine evil of others.  God HATES dominating, bullying, oppression and the abusing of others; yes that includes abuse by husbands, wives, parents, elders and all persons in authority.

3:29 Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee.  3:30 Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.

Yes, stand firmly on God’s Word but avoid unnecessary strife.

3:31 Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.

Do not envy to be like an abusive elder, or husband, or parent, or any bully!  Do not seek to be like them.

3:32 For the froward [stubborn self-willed] is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.3:33 The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just [the law of God is JUSTICE].

Those who exalt themselves above the Word of God, do not understand and are not subject to the Word of God.

3:34 Surely he [God] scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace [mercy] unto the lowly [humbly obedient to God].

3:35 The wise [the godly] shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion [reward] of fools.

Those who are enthusiastically zealous in searching out the hidden things of God’s Word and who live by every Word of God shall inherit eternal life and glory.

He who rejects or compromises with the Word of God is a spiritual fool; for God alone is the giver of eternal salvation.
