Proverbs 13

Proverbs 13

Physical fathers are types of our Father in heaven.  Those who obey the commandment and honor, respect  and obey their Father in heaven will be greatly blessed and willreceive eternal life.

Exodus 20:12   Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

Proverbs 13:1 A wise son heareth his father’s instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.

We will reap what we do and speak; teachers of righteousness shall reap life and teachers of compromise and rebellion against their Father in heaven, will reap violence and destruction.

13:2 A man shall eat [we will gain by good words and deeds, and we pay for evil words and deeds] good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.

The Spirit of God is the Spirit of power to control ones own words and actions.   To teach true godliness is to teach the way to eternal life; to teach to compromise with godliness and to permit sin is the way to damnation.

13:3 He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

Many desire to be in the resurrection to eternal life and are too spiritually lazy to make a diligent effort, therefore they will not be among the chosen for the first resurrection to spirit.  It is the zealous and diligent who shall reap the reward of eternal life.

13:4 The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

Liars are common, including those who twist and misrepresent truth; as discussed in the previous chapter.

13:5 A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.

The Word of God keeps one upright before God if we KEEP all of it zealously.

13:6 Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.

Lusting after transitory physical wealth that will disappear like the wind, is a waste of effort;  the true wealth which is worth seeking diligently is the Word of God, for living by every Word of God results in eternal life and the spiritual wealth that will remain forever.

13:7 There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.

Just as physical riches may save a physical life temporarily, the spiritual riches of godliness save a man for eternity.

13:8 The ransom of a man’s life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.

God’s Spirit is given to those that obey God: If we are zealous to learn and keep the whole Word of God the light of God will shine brightly in us as an example to all others to see.  Those who tolerate sin and false teachings dwell in the darkness of foolishness and spiritual ignorance, without any light at all.  They are blind without the light of God and they will fall into the ditch of destruction.

The light of the world is every Word of God which is Jesus Christ in print.

To be at ONE with God the Father and Jesus Christ we must internalize the nature of God through LEARNING and living by every Word of God!

John 1:9   That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

Proverbs 13:9 The light [life] of the [godly] righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp [life] of the wicked shall be put out.

Personal PRIDE is the source of contentions as each person seeks his own way and is not contrite and humble to follow God the Father and their espoused Husband.  The well informed in the Word of God who KEEPS what he has learned; will be filled with godly wisdom.

13:10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised [by the wisdom of God’s Word] is wisdom.

Easy come, easy go.  Wealth that comes easily without real effort quickly vanishes, but the one who works hard for his gain cherishes it!  Our Father is making us work hard to become like him, so that we will always cherish and value what we learn and receive from him.

God the Father is TESTING us to see how much true heart-felt desire we have to become like HIM!  Do we love God the Father and Christ enough to make a real major league effort to overcome and internalize God’s nature; or are we going through the motions and doing the minimum we think we must to receive a reward.

13:11 Wealth gotten by vanity [ill gotten gains soon vanish] shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.

The zealously godly are heartsick at the patience required until we can rejoice at the coming of our espoused Husband to deliver all his chosen!

But the wicked who lean to their own ways, would rather his coming be delayed so they can indulge in worldliness and delight in their physical things.

13:12 Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.

Those who compromise with God’s Word will be destroyed unless they repent.  Only the person who FEARS [highly respects and loves] and lives by every Word of God, will be chosen as a part of the collective bride.

13:13 Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.

The purpose of God’s law is to reveal to us the snares that lead to death, so that we may avoid them and gain eternal life.

13:14 The law of the wise [God] is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

By seeking understand and living by every Word of God we have much favor with God.   Those who are not filled with zeal for every Word of Holy Scripture will suffer rebuke and strong correction from Christ; and eternal death if they still refuse to repent.

13:15 Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.  13:16 Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly.

Those who pervert the gospel of warning, repentance and salvation through Jesus Christ and a zeal to live by every Word of God are wicked messengers who teach falsehoods  Churches may preach all they want, but if they are not preaching the truth that God the Father and Christ have commissioned; they are false messengers.

A faithful ambassador preaches what he is commissioned to preach, and does not substitute his own teachings for the message of his Master.

13:17 A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.

The sincerely repentant will be saved, but the obstinately rebellious shall remain destitute of godliness; and if they do not repent, in the end they will be destroyed.

13:18 Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.

To accomplish internalizing the nature of God the Father and Jesus Christ and the wisdom of every Word of God, is very sweet and has much good reward; but fools will not depart from their folly and will cling to their false traditions and evil compromising and rejection of the instructions of the Word of God.

13:19 The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.

We are to assemble with like minded folks who love and are zealous for all the things of God; we are to assemble with those who love correction and are quick to repent and embrace all the things of Christ as they are learned: For they love learning of God and they know that they can find much growth in interacting with others who also love to learn of and keep all the things of God.

To meet with spiritually false people, just to meet with people, is an evil; for it amounts to mixing the clean things of God with the unclean things of those who have separated themselves from God by their sin.   Those who do so will become contaminated by the evil they are associating with and they shall be destroyed.

13:20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. 13:21 Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed.

The physical man is a blessing to his children:  and the man who is spiritually diligent will be a blessing when he is resurrected and comes to lead his descendants to eternal salvation.

13:22 A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

Hard work can produce much; but much of that production can be lost due to a lack of good judgment.  It is often not how much we receive, but how we use what is provided.

The same is true spiritually, there are many who study endlessly and do not find the truth; because they study with preconceived notions and are not willing to obey and apply every Word of God to themselves.

2 Timothy 3:7   Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Proverbs 13:23 Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment.

If one teaches his children diligently and lovingly, quickly forgiving; little punishment will be needed.  It is a terrible sin to take out ones frustration on his child or to punish overmuch.  The following is referring to correction when it is needed for major habitual offenses.

NEVER physically punish without always carefully explaining the error and if repented always forgive lovingly without punishing.  Physical punishment should be reserved for adamant habitual rebellion only; and even then there should be quick loving forgiveness upon repentance.

Never hold grudges or be bitter against ones family, or allow such bitterness to take root in other family members.

Always teach patiently, love deeply, forgive fully; and never apply physical correction except for adamant rebellion.  Do not use the rod as a substitute for patient instruction.

13:24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

God cares for those zealous for all the things of God, therefore he will take the zealous to the place he has prepared for them, while the unrepentant spiritually rebellious who insist on deciding right and wrong for themselves are corrected!   All those who sincerely repent shall be raised to eternal life and given a good reward.

The correction of the tribulation is for the wicked who depart from full complete  UNITY and ONENESS with their God, in order to bring them to sincere repentance so that they might be saved.

13:25 The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.

The faithful godly will have a good reward and the unrepentant wicked shall perish.
