Proverbs 11

Proverbs 11

God delights in fairness, justice and honesty.  We need to avoid all deceit and we need to be just in all our doings as well as using just weights.

Proverbs 11:1 A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.

The proud are full of their own ways and in the end they will be brought to shame for resisting the ways of God.

11:2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

God shall deliver the faithful who  cleave to all the things of God without compromise in wholeness of heart; but those who depart from any part of the Word of God will be destroyed.

Definition- In the Biblical Context “INTEGRITY” is full unity with every Word of God the Father

11:3 The integrity [complete unity with every Word of God] of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors [transgressing any part of the Word of God] shall destroy them.

At the final judgment physical wealth will mean nothing; our relationship and zeal for our God over our lifetime will mean everything.

11:4 Riches profit not in the day of [God’s] wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.  11:5 The righteousness of the perfect [their zeal for God] shall direct his way: but the wicked [commandment breaker]  shall fall by his own wickedness.

It is through internalizing the nature of God by diligently learning and faithfully living by every Word of God that we shall inherit eternal life; while the unrepentant transgressors will be destroyed.

11:6 The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness [wickedness; sin].

All the hopes of the unrepentant who compromise with the Word of God, will perish at his death in the lake of fire.

11:7 When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.

The person zealous for all the teachings, will and ways of God who lives by every Word of God shall be delivered to eternal life.

11:8 The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.  11:9 An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.

1.  A person whose actions contradict stated beliefs.

2.  A person who feigns some desirable or publicly approved attitude, especially one whose private life, opinions, or statements contradict his or her public statements.

Synonyms: deceiver, dissembler, pretender, Pharisee.

The people rejoice when a righteous man is made ruler; they also rejoice at the fall of a wicked ruler.  The wicked who compromise with the Word of God, will NOT receive eternal life or ruler-ship in the Kingdom of God.

11:10 When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.

A Kingdom becomes great through the justice and righteousness of its ruler; and it fails by the perversity of a ruler who forgets the law of God.

11:11 By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

The wicked person speaks falsely of his neighbor, causing strife;  but a wise man seeks peace by calling all to righteousness [godliness] and concealing the sins of the repentant.

11:12 He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.   11:13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

Much counsel is good for all physical endeavors; while much counsel in prayer and study and with those who are zealous and wise in the Word of God is good for spiritual growth.

Yes, from time to time God provides men well founded on his Word to help his people.  How are we to know them?  By their fruits of focusing all people to a strong zeal to live by every Word of God (Mat 7)!

11:14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of [wise] counsellors there is safety.

It is foolish to listen to flatters or evil advice, therefore seek out wise counsel from honest experts on a subject who are not afraid to speak the truth.

Do not guarantee a stranger lest you suffer for it.  Do not bring the unconverted into the Assembly and do not tolerate false teachings and doctrinal division;  for a house divided against itself cannot stand!

An Assembly filled with tolerance for sin and false teachings will be perverted from God the Father and Jesus Christ.

11:15 He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.

The honor of men and women is their zeal for the source of all honor and glory; the teachings and Word of God the Father in heaven!

11:16 A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.

Quickly forgive the repentant, for God forgives us as we forgive others.  God will in no wise forgive the unforgiving.

11:17 The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.

The reward of all those who refuse to repent of a lack of intense zeal to live by every Word of God, is death forever!

The reward of those who preach the true gospel of warning, repentance and salvation through Jesus Christ; teaching all people to live by every Word of God; is SURE and sweet!  Inheriting all things and life eternal with our beloved Husband and his righteous Father.

11:18 The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.

To compromise with the Word of God is to foolishly sell the  eternal birthright of our calling for a temporary physical advantage, just as Esau sold his birthright for a bowl of stew.

11:19 As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth [seeks, desires unlawfully] evil pursueth it to his own death.

The stubborn, self-willed and unrepentant are an abomination to God the Father and Jesus Christ, like the foul odor of decay and death; but those who are zealous for all of God’s commandments and teachings are a delightful perfume to him.

11:20 They that are of a froward [stubborn, self-willed] heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.

The zealously faithful to live by every Word of God will have their good reward even if they must stand alone in this life; yet the wicked shall be destroyed even if they band together in huge armies;  For God the Father and Jesus Christ are each greater than all of creation!

11:21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

A physical woman who is extremely beautiful is a great sorrow and vexation, if she cannot be trusted and she is without loyalty to her husband.

Jesus Christ wants a bride whose loyalties are NEVER in doubt, and her desire is always zealous for her Husband.  A bride who is trustworthy and faithfully loyal to all his will; who is at ONE in complete UNITY with HIM and with God the Father!  A bride who’s eye does not wonder after others and their false ways.  A bride who’s chief desire is to please her Husband and is not selfishly bent on going her own ways and doing her own thing like Vashti, contrary to her Husband!

To be chosen as a part of the bride we MUST learn to be completely at ONE with our espoused Husband, and we must become wholeheartedly zealously faithful to live by every Word of God.

11:22 As a jewel of gold in a swine’s snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.

Let us desire only the good of God and seek out his ways day and night.  Let us not meditate on wickedness, but continually think on the goodness of every Word of God.

11:23 The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.

Reasonable generosity is a godly virtue.  He who shares with others will have his reward with God.  Yet, first take care of your responsibilities for the families that God has blessed you with; then share out of your excess.  It is foolish to give away money when one has debts to pay.

God has given us a good thing with his Word and we are to share it with the whole world.

11:24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.  11:25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.  11:26 He that withholdeth corn [holds back food from the hungry], the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.

God is good and his law is holy and just and good (Romans 7:12); seek out the things of God above all else, and you will have favor with God.

1 John 3:22   And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him [Christ], and he [Christ dwells in all those who live by every Word of God] in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

Proverbs 11:27 He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.

Trust in God and not in physical wealth or the numbers of attendees in your Assemblies.

11:28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

Those who compromise with any part of the Word of God trouble their own houses, and shall bring them to ruin.

11:29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.

Living according to the Word and Righteousness of  God the Father and Jesus Christ brings life eternal.

Daniel 12:3   And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

Proverbs 11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

The godly righteous shall have their reward of eternal life; and the unrepentant sinner shall have his reward of eternal death.

11:31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.
