Proverbs 10 – 11

Proverbs 10

All scripture is for the instruction of mankind and is dual, the physical aspects being object lessons for spiritual righteousness.

We must learn God’s righteousness and internalize that godly righteousness within ourselves, through diligent study and KEEPING the will of God, as defined in the scriptures.

As fathers and mothers, we all want righteous and successful children that we can be proud of;  God the Father is no different and wants faithful, zealous, successful children who follow his instructions and are full of love for HIM!

What parent is not heart broken by a foolish and wicked child?

Proverbs 10:1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

The gain of evil doing is transitory and profits nothing in the long term, ultimately bringing only destruction and death.  Who can take his physical treasures with him when he dies?   The righteousness that comes from obedience to God last’s forever and brings eternal life.

10:2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.

The righteous who are diligent to learn and obey every Word of their heavenly Father will be raised up out of the dust of the earth; but the life of the unrepentant wicked shall be forfeit.

10:3 The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.

Do you want to be wealthy in this life? Then work very hard toward your goal!  Do you want to gather much spiritual wealth and eternal life in the spirit?  Then work very hard towards that noble goal!

10:4 He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

The spiritually lazy who are content to sit idle and leave their salvation to others will lose it.

Matthew 25:28   Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

25:29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Proverbs 10:5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

The just man who lives by the Word of God will be blessed of God; but God will destroy the wicked who follow their own ways contrary to the Word of God.

10:6 Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.   10:7 The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.

Those who truly love God the Father and Jesus Christ will be zealous to live by every Word of God to please God, always.  Those who rebel against the source of life eternal are foolish and will perish because of their departure from the way of life eternal.

10:8 The wise in heart will receive [accept and obey God’s Word] commandments: but a prating fool [rejects God’s Word for his own ways] shall fall.

God can discern between the godly and the disobedient.  The faithful will have a sure place with God, while the rebellious are known and will be rejected.

10:9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely [is secure]: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.

Those who take God’s Word lightly and those who foolishly compromise with righteousness will be destroyed.

10:10 He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.

The righteous teach the truth; that the Word and  law of God is truth, justice and righteousness, which is eternal life: but the teacher who is not zealous to live by every Word of God leads people to perdition and goes to destruction.

Leviticus 19:17 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.

To bear grudges and be unforgiving is hatred, but to love is to forgive.

Proverbs 10:11 The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

10:12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

Those who are sinful and unrepentant will receive many strokes of correction; those who examine and correct themselves have a wise heart and need little correction from God.

10:13 In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding. 10:14 Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.

Those who teach people to compromise with or neglect the Word of God are foolishly running to their own destruction; but the wise run to acquire knowledge and quickly turn from every false way.

10:15 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.

The physically rich have some strength in their wealth; and the spiritually rich may rely on the Eternal forever. Physical poverty is a crushing burden; while spiritual poverty brings one to eternal destruction.

10:16 The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.

The labor of the godly, is to become like God, which leads to life eternal.  The end of the wicked who turn away from spiritual knowledge to decide right and wrong for themselves, is to be cut off from God and his salvation.

10:17 He is in the way of life that keepeth [God’s] instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.

Those who obey God the Father and Jesus Christ have life eternal; but he who exalts men, organizations and false traditions as idols above the Word of God errs greatly from the way to salvation.

10:18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.

The one who says pleasant things to hide his animosity and then slanders behind someone’s back; is a false, sneaking, lying, hypocrite.

10:19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.

The wise think before they speak and are prudent in their words.

10:20 The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.

The godly are just and teach the truth; the wicked teach people to follow others in place of God and encourage compromise with God’s Word. The teachings of the godly bring many to repentance; those who teach sinful compromise, rebellion and toleration of sin, will perish along with their followers.

10:21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.

To live by every Word of God brings eternal rewards without sorrow.  God shall give eternal life and wipe away every sorrow for his faithful.

Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

21:5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

21:7  He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Brethren compromising, winking at and tolerating sin; is NOT overcoming!  It is BEING OVERCOME!

Proverbs 10:22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.  10:23 It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.

A fool delights to sin, not understanding that he is rushing to his own destruction.  God’s Word reveals the end of the righteous and the end of the wicked, and makes one wise to gain life eternal.

10:24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.  10:25 As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

The wicked who reject zeal to live by every Word of God think God’s Word is unimportant until they fall into tribulation and correction.

Those diligent and zealous to live by every Word of God shall have a good reward of wisdom and life eternal!

The unrepentant who compromise and rebel against God shall perish as a wisp of fog in the wind, here a moment and then gone forevermore!  The zealous for all the ways and will of God shall inherit eternal life.

10:26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.

A lazy man is a vexation to his employer; a lazy man in spiritual things is a vexation to God the Father and will be rejected by Jesus Christ for his lack of zeal. (Rev 3:16, Mat 25)

10:27 The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

Those who are zealous for the things of God shall inherit eternal life, but the spiritually complacent, indolent and lukewarm will perish unless they repent wholeheartedly.

Those who teach that Jesus Christ is love and will overlook unrepented sin: will NOT be in the resurrection to eternal life!

Those who understand that Christ is love and will therefore correct sin because sin leads us to our destruction, will know that God does NOT overlook any willful sin.

Only the zealous to live by every Word of God will live forever!

10:28 The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

Living by every Word of God, places us under the protection of the Mighty One who ravaged Egypt and brought down Jericho: The Great Deliverer who shall open the graves of the zealous to the resurrection of eternal life!

10:29 The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity. 10:30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

The zealous for God shall inherit eternal life and all things; while the unrepentant evil doer will inherit destruction.

The godly man teaches every Word of God, leading men into the wisdom of God!

The wicked man who teaches compromise with and attempts to justify disobedience of and rejects zeal for, the Word of God; shall perish.

10:31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.

10:32 The lips of the righteous [the repentant and humble before God] know what is acceptable [to God the Father]: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh forwardness [stubborn self-justification instead of sincere repentance].

Proverbs 11

Proverbs 11:1 A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.

God delights in fairness, justice and honesty.  We need to avoid all deceit and we need to be just in all our doings.

11:2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

The proud are full of their own ways and in the end they will be brought to shame for resisting the ways of God.

Definition- In the Biblical Context “INTEGRITY” is full complete unity with every Word of God the Father.

11:3 The integrity [complete unity with every Word of God] of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors [transgressing any part of the Word of God] shall destroy them.

God will deliver the faithful who  cleave to all the things of God without compromise in wholeness of heart; but those who depart from any part of the Word of God will be destroyed

11:4 Riches profit not in the day of [God’s] wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.  11:5 The righteousness of the perfect [their zeal for God] shall direct his way: but the wicked [commandment breaker]  shall fall by his own wickedness.

At the final judgment physical wealth will mean nothing; our relationship and zeal for our God over our lifetime will mean everything.

11:6 The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness [wickedness; sin].

It is through internalizing the nature of God by diligently learning and faithfully living by every Word of God that we inherit eternal life; while the unrepentant transgressors will be destroyed.

11:7 When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.

All the hopes of the unrepentant who compromise with the Word of God, will perish at his death in the lake of fire.

11:8 The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.

The person zealous for all of the teachings, will and ways of God who lives by every Word of God shall be delivered to eternal life.

Hypocrite:  Definition:

1.  A person whose actions contradict stated beliefs.

2.  A person who feigns some desirable or publicly approved attitude, especially one whose private life, opinions, or statements contradict his or her public statements.

3.  A person who does not practice what he teaches; such as claiming to hold the Sabbath holy, and then polluting it.
Synonyms: deceiver, dissembler, pretender, Pharisee.
11:9 An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.

Practice what you teach setting a godly example, because hypocrites face the judgment of destruction.

11:10 When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.

The people rejoice when a righteous man is made ruler; they also rejoice at the fall of a wicked ruler.  The wicked who compromise with the Word of God, will NOT receive eternal life or ruler-ship in the Kingdom of God.

11:11 By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

A Kingdom becomes great through the justice and righteousness of its ruler; and it fails by the perversity of a ruler who transgresses any part of the Word of God.

11:12 He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.   11:13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

A wicked person speaks falsely against his neighbor, causing strife;  but a wise man seeks peace by calling all to righteousness [godliness] and concealing the sins of the repentant.

11:14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of [wise] counsellors there is safety.

Much counsel is good for all physical endeavors; while much counsel with God in prayer and study, and with those who are zealous and wise in the Word of God is good for spiritual growth.

Yes, from time to time God provides men well founded on his Word to help his people.  How are we to know them?  By their fruits of focusing all people to a strong zeal to live by every Word of God (Mat 7)!

Listening to flatters or evil advice is foolish bringing disaster, therefore seek out wise counsel from honest experts on a subject who are not afraid to speak the truth.

11:15 He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.

Do not cosign to guarantee a stranger’s debt lest you suffer for it.

11:16 A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.

The honor of men and women is their zeal for the source of all honor and glory; the teachings and Word of God the Father in heaven!

11:17 The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.

Quickly forgive the repentant because God forgives us as we forgive others.  God will in no wise forgive the unforgiving.

11:18 The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.

The reward of all those who refuse to repent of a lack of intense zeal to live by every Word of God, is death forever!

The reward of those who preach the true gospel of warning, repentance and salvation through Jesus Christ; teaching all people to live by every Word of God; is SURE and sweet.   Such people will inherit all things and life eternal with our beloved Husband and his righteous Father.

11:19 As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth [seeks, desires unlawfully] evil pursueth it to his own death.

To compromise with the Word of God is to foolishly sell the  eternal birthright of our calling for a temporary physical advantage, just as Esau sold his birthright for a bowl of stew.

11:20 They that are of a froward [stubborn, self-willed] heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.

The stubborn, self-willed and unrepentant are an abomination to God the Father and Jesus Christ, like a foul odor of decay and death; but those who are zealous to live by every Word of God are a delightful perfume to him.

The zealously faithful to live by every Word of God will have their good reward even if they must stand alone in this life.

11:21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

The wicked shall be destroyed even if they band together in huge armies: God the Father and Jesus Christ are each greater than all of creation!

11:22 As a jewel of gold in a swine’s snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.

A physical woman who is extremely beautiful is a great sorrow and vexation if she cannot be trusted and she is without loyalty to her husband.

Jesus Christ wants a bride whose loyalties are NEVER in doubt, and her desire is always zealous for her Husband.  A bride who is trustworthy and faithfully loyal to do all his will; who is at ONE in complete UNITY with HIM and with God the Father!  A bride who’s eye does not wonder after others and their false ways.  A bride who’s chief desire is to please her Husband and is not selfishly bent on going her own ways and doing her own thing like Vashti, contrary to her Husband!

To be chosen as a part of the bride we MUST learn to be completely at ONE with our espoused Husband, and we must become wholeheartedly zealously faithful to live by every Word of God.

11:23 The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.

Let us earnestly desire the good things of God and seek out his ways day and night.  Let us not meditate on wickedness, but continually think on the goodness of every Word of God.

11:24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.  11:25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.  11:26 He that withholdeth corn [holds back food from the hungry], the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.

Reasonable generosity is a godly virtue.  He who shares with others will have his reward with God.  Yet, first take care of your responsibilities for the families that God has blessed you with; then share out of your excess.  It is foolish to give away money when one has debts to pay.

11:27 He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.

God has given us a good thing with his Word and we are to share it with the whole world.  God is good and his law is holy and just and good (Romans 7:12); seek out the things of God above all else, and you will have favor with God.

11:28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

Trust in God and not in physical wealth or the numbers of attendees in your Assemblies.

11:29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.

Those who compromise with any part of the Word of God trouble their own houses, and shall bring them to ruin.

11:30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

Living according to the Word and Righteousness of  God the Father and Jesus Christ brings life eternal.

Daniel 12:3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament [literally the empty space]; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

The godly righteous shall have their reward of eternal life; and the unrepentant sinner shall have his reward of eternal death.

Proverbs 11:31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.
