21 Nov 09:00 PST Breaking: Israel- In a decision that drastically shakes up Israeli politics amid already ongoing chaos, Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit announced Thursday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be charged with criminal wrongdoing in three separate cases against him. Netanyahu will be charged with fraud and breach of trust in Cases 1000 and 2000, and bribery, fraud and breach of trust in Case 4000.
The indictment against Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu was submitted to Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein, in order to allow the Prime Minister to inform the Knesset whether he would like to request immunity from criminal prosecution.
The indictments do not mean that the premier will face any immediate legal peril. It could take months before formal charges are filed, as Netanyahu is expected to ask the Knesset for parliamentary immunity.
The Knesset House Committee and plenum would have to rule first on Netanyahu’s immunity, but the committee does not currently have any members, as no coalition agreement has yet been signed in the 22nd Knesset dividing up committee seats between the parliament’s factions.
Only once a new coalition is formed — either over the next three weeks or, failing that, after the next round of elections slated for March — can a Knesset House Committee take up the question.
Even if Netanyahu’s immunity request is rejected, it could take until May or June for formal changes to be fled with the court.
07:00 PST Breaking: Israel- The Justice Ministry has just announced tat Attorney General Avichai Mandleblit will announce his decision on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s three corruption cases at 7:30 p.m local time.
05:30 PST Breaking: Israel- The very popular Likud MK Gideon Saar challenges Netanyahu for party leadership saying that he will demand a Likud leadership race. The race could split Likud between moderates backing Saar and extremists backing Netanyahu. Whichever side wins the leadership, if at least 11 Mk’s agree to leave Likud they can split from Likud to form a new party and remain as MK’s in the Knesset.
03:00 PST: Vietnam- US military chief in Hanoi to gift the country with a ship for its coast guard.
Korea- Trump administration officials leak threats of withdrawal from Korea as a ploy to reopen talks. The Pentagon denies that they have any instructions to withdraw, but then they would not at this stage. The US and South Korea agreed to a $920 million annual cost-sharing payment earlier this year, but Trump is now demanding $4.7 billion. South Korean officials have balked at that, and this week’s talks ended almost immediately with the US delegation leaving.
Israel- Pressure for Likud leadership challenge grows. Netanyahu running scared is resisting a preelection leadership contest as required by the party rules. Whether such a leadership race is held or not internal resistance to Netanyahu is rising.
20 Nov 10:30 PST: Israel- Blue and White leader Benny Gantz has returned the mandate to form the government to President Reuven Rivlin Wednesday evening, signalling the end of his attempts to form a coalition.
08:30 PST: Israel- At least 23 killed in Israeli attack on Syria, a response is expected from Iranian assets in the region probably from Gaza.
06:00 PST: Israel- On the way to new elections. With only eight hours left in the Blue and White mandate coalition talks collapse. Once the mandate officially ends at midnight the Knesset will have 21 days to see what they can do, if they fail which seems virtually guaranteed an election will be set in three months. An election can be postponed if a war interfering with the poll should erupt. Although a Gaza conflict could come sooner judging by the heavy American buildup in Europe and the Middle East planned for February, a general Mideast war seems to be on the schedule for early next year.
Syria- Extensive Syrian reinforcements are massing for an assault on the the Al-Ghaab Plain.
01:00 PST: Breaking- Israel- After last night’s collapse of coalition talks Netanyahu is flexing his military muscles to impress his extremist backers, from now on he will launch heavy attacks in response to any provocation.
The Israeli Air Force killed at least 11 and attacked at least 20 sites in the Marjeyoun area near the southern border of Lebanon, with eleven of these projectiles hitting their intended targeted in the Beit Saber area of southern Damascus. The IDF then announced they had launched a second wave of strikes targeting Syrian air defenses. “During our strike of Iranian & Syrian terror targets, a Syrian air defence missile was fired despite clear warnings to refrain from such fire. As a result, a number of Syrian aerial defence batteries were destroyed,”
Syria- The Syrian Arab Army advancing in Idlib established full control of Musharifah Al-Shmaliyah this morning,
19 Nov 05:00 PST: Korea- Today’s talks between the ROK and the US on the new exorbitant Trump financial demands for maintaining a US troop presence in Korea collapsed as soon as they began with Korea rejecting the demands outright. See the 17 Nov report below for details of the demands.
Israel- The Likud and Blue and White Parties have announced that party leaders Binyamin Netanyahu and Benny Gantz will meet, Wednesday evening at 10:00 at the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem. This will likely be the final effort to achieve a breakthrough before the Gantz mandate expires tomorrow.
02:15 PST: Israel- Four small projectiles were shot down over northern Israel as they entered from the Syrian Golan at 04:40 local time.
The attack was probably in response to two rockets fired by Israel into the Damascus home of Akram al-Ajouri on Nov 12 in an assassination attempt on the Islamic Jihad official. The attack killed his son Muadh and Ajouri’s bodyguard, Hebrew media reported that six others were said injured. At least one Israeli Iron Dome landed in Syria near Damascus when it did not intercept an incoming rocket. The IDF deployed the Iran Dome is an exercise last night.
18 Nov 12:30 PST: UK- Johnson’s Conservatives are leading substantially in all of the various polls.
US- US declares illegal Israeli settlements legal, flouting international law.
American food chain Chick-fil-A comes out in support of homosexuality.
06:00 PST: Israel- Dramatic and far-reaching agreements have just been reached between MK Avigdor Liberman’s Yisrael Beytenu party and the larger Blue and White party chaired by MK Benny Gantz. The two parties will still not be enough to form a government and this agreement appears to be the platform for a new election.
If a new election is called [possibly as soon as March 3] Netanyahu is expected to launch a regional war which could delay any vote, in fact he may wait until the last minute to go to war so as to delay a vote as long as possible; but a costly bloody war will have the electorate longing for a peacemaker.
This deal would enable the election of a non religious, moderate peace making government not held hostage by the far right extremists next spring.
The parties’ negotiating teams agreed, among other things, to pass legislation allowing municipal rabbis to open Jewish courts for conversion, which will not be supervised by the government conversion system.
They also agreed to fully implement the Western Wall Plan, allow civil marriage, and pass the Draft Law in its original version. In addition, the agreement states that the Supermarkets Law closing major stores on Sabbath will be canceled, and there will be regular public transportation on Shabbat (the Sabbath) in any municipalities interested in it.
Mideast Peace- Trump is getting very frustrated with Israel’s inability to form a government. “Trump has decided to distance himself from Prime Minister Netanyahu after his failure to secure a clear victory in the April 9 elections and form a government, despite the assistance Netanyahu received from the president.”
Donald is searching for another Israeli partner for peace and could find it in a Gantz Blue and White governing coalition if a new election is called.
Ukraine- Today Russia will return 3 navy vessels to Ukraine as relations between the countries warm ahead of the Dec 12 Paris peace conference.
Syria- Heavy fighting as terrorists attempt counter attack outside Kabani.
With the new military situation stabilizing, Kurds offer peace and reconciliation talks to Syria
Israel- Prosecutor delays Netanyahu indictments announcement until next Monday.
With two days left in Gantz mandate coalitions talks sill deadlocked.
17 Nov 09:00 PST: Israel- Likud officials have received information that on Tuesday Netanyahu will be charged in either two or all three of the corruption cases against him.
A desperate Netanyahu is preparing to stage a mass protest Monday night in front of Attorney General Avichai Mendelblitt’s home and at traffic junctions across the country. Maariv reported that recently, right-wing activists [the far right extremists backing Netanyahu] spread threats against the Attorney General and senior prosecutors Shai Nitzan and Liat Ben-Ari.
Meanwhile a desperate Netanyahu facing three possible criminal indictments, is trying to cancel Likud leadership primaries required if a third election is called. The indictments if filed and if a new election is called, could make a Likud leadership run extremely divisive spitting the party between moderates and the far right extremists who support Netanyahu.
04:15 PST: Israel- Final efforts are underway for the Blue and White to form a government before the Wednesday deadline. Attorney General to announce final decision on going forward with criminal indictments of Netanyahu on Nov 19.
Syria- The Syrian army has liberated the Zuwayqat Mountains and hilltops and is preparing to sweep down into the terrorist controlled city of Kabani. If successful the fall of Kabani will liberate the last terrorist zone in Latakia province and outflank the terrorists in northern Idlib province.
02:00 PST: Trump- President Trump pardons three accused war criminals. The White House statement said they wanted to give US soldiers the “confidence to fight.” Remember the My Lai murders and William Calley and Earnest Medina? US war criminals get pardons others are hanged.
- Maj. Matthew Golsteyn was being held on charges of murdering an Afghan detainee. He repeatedly admitted to doing so. Trump had repeatedly expressed support for Golsteyn and for the killing.
- Lt. Clint Lorance was convicted of two murder charges for ordering troops to murder Afghans on motorcycles. He had been serving 19 years in prison. The killing was detailed in the Starz documentary “Leavenworth,” where platoon members discussed the killings.
- SEAL Edward Gallagher was facing a murder charge for posing for a photo with a corpse, in addition to already being found guilty of posing for the photo in general. Trump not only pardoned Gallagher, but restored his rank to Chief Petty Officer.
US- The US is unabashedly encouraging demonstrations which have broken out across Iran over price increases.
Extensive demonstrations against the coup by US trained military commanders are breaking out across Bolivia.
US pressures Japan, Korea and Europe for huge increases in amounts paid for US defense. It should be understood that while the deployment of American troops is expensive these countries besides making large payments for the deployments are also paying huge amounts to buy US military equipment thereby supporting the US economy.

02:00 PST: Breaking: Gaza- Israel attacks Hamas after Hamas agreed to resume support and cooperation with Islamic Jihad and two rockets were shot down over Beer Sheva.
15 Nov 11:45 PST: Ukraine- The leaders of France, Germany, Russia and Ukraine will meet in Paris on December 9 for Ukraine peace talks. Agreement would establish a Russia Europe detante independent of the US.
05:30 PST: Gaza- Israel insists that they will continue assassinations. The Islamic Jihad military wing disagrees with the political wing’s desire for calm.
04:00 PST: Korea- President Trump tries to shakedown South Korea demanding 4.7 billion payment for alliance for 2020. That is four times more than 2019. The move puts the US Korea alliance in jeopardy. Will Trump try the same kind of shakedown with NATO in future?
Israel- A very uneasy calm has begun with Gaza. The Israeli president is working hard trying to establish a governing coalition with the Gantz mandate expiring Wednesday night. Gantz could either ask for a two week extension or return the mandate.
Once the mandate is returned it will pass to the Knesset which will have three weeks to try and form a government and if they fail an election must be called within three months. The Gaza situation is very likely to erupt again and if there is no formal government the various parties would support a minority Likud from the opposition until hostilities end.
Syria- Army now advancing step by step in Idlib.
Gaza- Netanyahu ordered this week’s hostilities on his own, overruling cabinet member objections.
Unstable calm slowly settling in as the sides take a breather after inability to agree on ceasefire terms.

03:15 PST: Gaza- A barrage of five rockets was fired at at 10:55 a.m. local time shaking the calm for calm. Israel vows to continue assassinations and firing at demonstrators regardless of any calm. Zeyad al-Nakhala, Islamic Jihad leader, announced on Thursday that the IJ will take over the Friday demonstrations from Hamas.
Last night’s 2 am Israeli attack killed Rasmi Abu Malhous, the head of Islamic Jihad’s rocket unit. The strike, which targeted a house in Deir al-Balah, also claimed the lives of his wife and six children in their beds.
00:45 PST: Gaza- Fighting continues in spite of ceasefire effective 05:30 local time. The “calm” may be short as Hamas and Islamic Jihad say Israel agreed to stop firing on the Friday demonstrators and end the Israeli killings and Israel says “not so” they will continue firing at demonstrators and assassinating people at will. Now that the Islamic Jihad has been sharply degraded it could soon be Hamas’s turn.
Syria- The Syrian army is attempting to relieve Qassamiyah which is being besieged by Turkish militias.
13 Nov 16:30 PST: Gaza- Israel rejects IJ ceasefire offer says they will accept “calm for calm” but will not agree to anything else.
Another Israeli assassination attempt killed six people and injured another 12 in their beds at home in Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza at 2 am local time.
14:00 PST: Syria- The Syrian army is advancing on the terrorist sanctuary of Kabani.
Gaza- Islamic Jihad leader Ziad Nakhala has arrived in Cairo for talks and has offered Israel a ceasefire but has set a number of conditions.
“We demand a halt to the assassinations in Gaza and Judea and Samaria, the cessation of firing at the protesters in the return marches and the implementation of the ceasefire agreements,” he said. Israel is not likely to agree and will make its own demands.
08:00 PST: Gaza- 200 projectiles fired from Gaza yesterday another 200 so far today. Most of these were local short range mortars with only a small number of rockets. 24 Gazans killed and over 70 wounded; some 40 Israeli’s either stumbled running to shelters or felt frightened, none actually killed with one wounded by enemy fire so far.
04:30 PST: Gaza- Israel threatens mass assassinations of Islamic Jihad leaders wherever they might be. Hezbollah Al-Mayadeen TV station says it will air an interview with Islamic Jihad Secretary-General Ziad al-Nakhala at 10 p.m. local time [noon PST]. There is little likelihood of a ceasefire as the Israeli defense minister vows to hunt down every Gaza militia member whom he labels a terrorist.
02:15 PST: Gaza- Islamic Jihad says that despite rocket fire they have not yet responded to the Israeli assassinations. They also reject any idea of a ceasefire until after they respond to the killings and inflict a very painful retribution.
00:30 PST: Syria- The Syrian army and allied groups have launched a large counter attack against Turkish militias around Hasakah.
Israel- The Israeli cabinet meets today for a briefing and deliberations on further steps. Politically Gantz’s Blue and White has seven days left to form a governing coalition with success unlikely. After that the Knesset will have 21 days to find its own solution before an election must be called within three months.
If quiet is not restored the Knesset will probably permit the Likud to continue governing with a minority backed by the other parties until the situation calms. After which the political crisis would need to be resolved. Netanyahu is obviously intent on prolonging and expanding the conflict. If he carries through with plans to destroy the militias and the Hamas military wing, the project could take several months.
Gaza- This morning Israel assassinated 38-year-old Khaled Awad Farraj, the central district commander for the Islamic Jihad Al Quds Brigades bringing a resumption of rocket fire after seven hours of calm overnight. 200 projectiles were fired from Gaza yesterday. Hamas has held back so far allowing Israel to strike the Islamic Jihad but Hamas is under pressure to enter the fray.
12 Nov 12:00 PST: Gaza- Hamas announces that they will join the fight alongside Islamic Jihad if there is no ceasefire deal tonight.
10:25 PST: Gaza- large columns of Israeli tanks, artillery and vehicles are clogging the roads as they head south to Gaza.
10:15 PST: Syria- The Syrian army and Hezbollah have not yet invaded Idlib but they are massed around Idlib province in the north and stretched thin in supporting the Kurdish areas according to the new agreement with the Kurds. The Syrian army has been engaged in nearly constant fights with Turkish backed militias along the Syrian Kurdish border with Turkey especially around Hasakah. These difficulties make any intervention in support of Gaza almost impossible at this time.
Israel- The Israel attack on Gaza could best be named Operation Unity Government since it forces the other political parties to back and cooperate with Netanyahu’s Likud until the end of hostilities. This option was first posted by TheShiningLight on September 13, when I wrote:
“A third option is to force a coalition by launching a war with Gaza which would escalate to include Hezbollah, Lebanon, Syria and possibly Iran. All the parties would rally around the flag and Bibi would have a governing national unity coalition at least until the hostilities end.
Any war could take months and establishing some political stability in the region would take even longer. From there it remains to be seen how long it will take to arrange a peace deal. The tribulation could begin in late 2020 or take even longer.”
08:45 PST: Gaza- Israel appears to be trying to avoid killing more Gazans as Egypt seeks to mediate ceasefire.
06:45 PST: Gaza- Subject to review and renewal Israel places all areas within 50 miles of Gaza under military control. Israel is activating thousands of reservists who are being rushed to the Gaza front and the military is taking control of the roads and transportation corridors. The IDF continues to pound Gaza as barrages of rockets enter the country.
05:00 PST: Gaza- Officials warn Israelis to prepare for a lengthy conflict with Gaza. 180 projectiles have now entered the country from Gaza and heavy airstrikes have begun across the Strip.
Hamas has correctly assessed that the Israeli operation is intended to prevent a Hamas victory in planned elections for the Palestinian Authority. See the 6 Nov 09:00 PST: Palestine section. However they are slightly wrong in that the Israeli intention is much more than that, they hope to destroy the Hamas Military Wing and then make peace with the remaining Political Wing.
American activities against Iran- The US calls for early elections in Iraq after weeks of protests against the pro Iran regime orchestrated by Western agencies. President Salih’s office has reportedly finalized the new elections draft law, to bring early elections and revamp the parliament to get a pro US government elected. The new law would reduce the minimum age for MPs to 25, and slash the number parliament members by 30 %.
A military coup has forced the resignation of the popular Bolivian President Evo Morales who had managed consistent economic growth over 13 years and reduced poverty very substantially in the county. A strong supporter of Venezuela, Cuba, Syria and Iran, President Evo Morales has been publicly critical of U.S. policies.
Appalled, Mexico has come out in support of Morales against the American machinations in Latin America and has offered Morales sanctuary. The Bolivian military has just ordered the army to put down hundreds of thousands of pro Morales demonstrators marching towards the capital,

After the funeral Islamic Jihad declares that they are mobilizing for a full scale war started by Israel. Islamic Jihad terrorist leader Khaled Al-Batsh said, at the funeral for senior terrorist Baha Abu al-Ata , who was eliminated by the Israel Defense Forces, that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu “will pay a high price for the liquidation.”
Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhum also promises to respond harshly to the IDF’s assassination of the Islamic Jihad leader. Barhum said “Israel is wrong to believe that the attack on Islamic Jihad will prevent Hamas from responding. Israel will pay an expensive price for the killing.
The Islamic Jihad’s first response was a wide-ranging rocket barrage against key towns in central and southern Israel, including Sderot, Ashkelon, Ashdod, Gedera, Rishon Lezion and Tel Aviv, after announcing that “there were no borders.” Iron Dome downed some 20, including two rockets targeting Tel Aviv. alerts in central Tel Aviv and Jaffa, as well as Bat Yam, Holon, Rishon Lezion, and Palmachim.
Israel has begun pounding Gaza and the Gaza militias are preparing to attack sensitive targets and all sites inside Israel in the coming hours. In another apparent Israeli assassination attempt an unmanned Israeli aircraft attacked a motorcycle in the northern Gaza Strip killing several people.
The assassination comes after Netanyahu consulted with the various party leaders and nearly all factions will unite in support of Bibi during the security crisis.
Suspected Israeli missiles are striking the Damascus area. Senior Islamic Jihad officer Akram al-Ajouri was the target of an attack on a building near the Lebanese embassy on the outskirts of Damascus early Tuesday, at the same time as the IDF’s Gaza strike killed Baha Abu Al-Atta in the Gaza Strip. Al-Ajouri was variously said to have been killed or escaped from the explosion that killed his wife and daughter in a building associated with Hizballah. Al Ajouri was the liaison officer between Al-Atta in Gaza and the Iranian Al-Qods Brigades.

This does not bring enough seats for a governing coalition and is a positioning for the next election which could come in spring. The New Right party leader Naftali Bennett will become Defense Minister.

7 Nov 1045 PST: Europe- NATO summit 3-4 December in the UK.
06:00 PST: Europe- Besides defending Europe and Israel from Iran during the coming war the huge US military surge to Europe planned for Feb through April is designed to demonstrate that the US can defend Europe via troop surges without any serious European permanent troop deployments. This will justify a draw-down of American forces from Europe while leaving massive quantities of weapons and supplies in European storage.

World Report- With about 20 days left in the Kahol Lavan [Blue and White] mandate, Israeli coalition talks are solidly deadlocked and another election as early as next March is probable.
Russia and Syria are threatening an imminent operation to liberate Idlib province, whether this happens in the coming days remains to be seen as they could continue preinvasion bombing for weeks or even months. Issues complicating the schedule include the present operation to take the terrorist occupied town of Kabani which lies on a mountain top overlooking the extremists Idlib heartland. The Kabani area is honeycombed with caves and tunnels needing to be cleared one by one in heavy fighting.
The US is building up for a war with Iran with a massive military buildup in Europe [beginning in February] to protect Europe from any possible trouble with Russia, a large part of the build up is missile defense assets placing an umbrella over Europe and Israel, coupled with the biannual Juniper Cobra missile defense exercise with Israel in spring.
While a Gaza operation can happen sooner, it appears that the sides are planning a general Mideast war early next year. Remember that the enemy has something to say and that the best laid plans often go awry.
