Christ teaches us how to pray
Jesus teaches people to pray short meaningful prayers, NOT lengthy prayers to impress others, and NOT empty “putting in time to fill up an hour or more” prayers. The prayers of men recorded in the Bible are almost all very short and very effective.
The effectiveness of prayer is related to how zealously we obey God, and to the sincerity of the petition being made directly to the Father.
1 John 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
Luke 11:1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
We are to address the very God the Father, King of the universe; showing proper RESPECT for His holiness and authority, acknowledging that the Father’s will IS done in Heaven; and asking that the Father’s will be done in earth. and if we seek God’s will to be done, we should ourselves be doing God’s will; which is to live by every Word of God, (Mat 4:4).
What is God the Father’s will? That we become LIKE HIM! Through the diligent internalizing of his nature, through living by every Word of God!
11:2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
We are to acknowledge that all things ultimately come from God the Father’s authority and we are to ask HIM for our daily needs. This is our DAILY NEEDS; not our lusts for mammon and the pleasures of worldliness.
11:3 Give us day by day our daily bread. [Firstly the SPIRITUAL Bread of Life, the gift of the Holy Spirit and a good knowledge of every Word of God, and a good understanding of the whole Word of God; and only secondarily, our physical needs.
We are to forgive others, and will only be forgiven of our own sins according to the degree that we forgive others. We are to ask the Father for the strength of the gift of God’s Holy Spirit to KEEP his Word and the power to resist and overcome all temptation to compromise into sin. We are delivered from the evil way, by the keeping of every Word of God’s.
11:4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
We must diligently seek out the good things of God; which are found in his commandments and the doctrines of the Word of God. We must study, practice and internalize every Word of God which is his nature in print.
We must meditate on God’s Word day and night, for the Word of God delivers us from the ways and the end of the wicked; which is death: and we must ask-ask-ask for the gift of God’s Spirit of understanding; the gift of understanding God’s Word; the Bread of Life; and a good understanding shall be given unto us if we keep every Word of God and do his Will.
11:5 And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves [pita rounds]; 11:6 For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him? 11:7 And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee. 11:8 I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity [persistence] he will rise and give him as many as he needeth. 11:9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
We are to first and foremost seek the righteousness and wisdom of God, which is contained in his Word; seeking to internalize the very nature of God, and the constitution and laws of the Kingdom of God, which rules the heavens and will shortly come to rule the earth.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
If we seek the things of God and seek to please God; and if we DO that which we learn from God: Then he will give us eternal life and a part in the collective bride of the Lamb unto us.
Is that not what the scriptures teach us?
Ecclesiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
Luke 11:10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
We are to ask for the gift of the Holy Spirit of God which shall lead us into all things of God: and IF IF IF we follow the lead of God’s Spirit by DOING what God’s Word teaches us we shall receive it.
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost [Spirit], whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Luke 11:11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 11:12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
Christ is accused of performing good works by the power of the evil one.
Brethren, it saddens me to say that this attitude is still in some today. When God’s two prophets begin their mission: I tell you the truth: Some will say that the two do miracles by the power of Satan, because they prefer to cleave to their own false traditions.
11:14 And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered. 11:15 But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils. 11:16 And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.
A house divided against itself cannot stand. That is why inter-religious marriages are not successful; for either the converted will fall away to their mate and apostatize from God, or the marriage will fail.
11:17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth. 11:18 If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.
Jesus Christ cane from God the Father as a representative of God the Father; the Heavenly King of the universal kingdom of God!
11:19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges. 11:20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.
God the Father and Jesus Christ are STRONGER than Satan and all of Satan’s house.
11:21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: 11:22 But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.
When we are called to Christ by God the Father, we have a choice to respond positively, or to respond negatively and reject the call. Those who respond and accept the call, must then prove themselves over a lifetime of loyalty and growth through obedience to God the Father and Christ!
11:23 He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth [divides people from God].
When the evil is cast out; it will return again, unless we are diligent in doing the will of the Father, diligently learning and KEEPING every Word of God.
Nature abhors a vacuum and evil will rush into any mind empty of the Spirit of God.
We must fill ourselves with God’s Spirit through diligent and ceaseless study and meditation on all the things of God, being zealous and unwavering in the KEEPING of the teachings and commandments of Christ and God the Father! If we do not, we quench God’s Spirit, and open the way for sin to bring us under subjection again.
11:24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. 11:25 And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. 11:26 Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
A woman then blesses Christ and he responds by blessing all those that live by every Word of God.
11:27 And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. 11:28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
Jesus then gives the sign of Jonah
11:29 And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet. 11:30 For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.
Jesus calls himself greater than Solomon
11:31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
Jesus calls himself greater than Jonah
11:32 The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
We are to sincerely repent of all commandment breaking and seek the Holy Spirit; and set an example of godliness and enthusiastic obedience to all the teachings and commandments of God:
Living the Gospel is the foundation of Preaching the Gospel!
Our godly example is to be a LIGHT to the World.
11:33 No man, when he hath lighted a candle [lamp], putteth it in a secret [hiding] place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick [lampstand that all may see the light], that they which come in may see the light.
We are NOT to be double minded and compromising with God’s Word. We are to be single mindedly focused on shining; the Light of God and his Word; by DOING what God has said, for all the world to see!
11:34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single [focused on good], thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is [focused on evil] evil, thy body also is full of darkness.
Do NOT try to mix light with darkness: DO NOT compromise the righteousness of God with the breaking of God’s will and Word. For when the unclean thing touches the clean, the whole lump has become leavened with uncleanness.
The compromising of many, and the glorying of some concerning their tolerance of evil; IS NOT GOOD! It is NOT godly!
1 Corinthians 5:6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
It is polluting the body of Christ the temple of the Spirit of God.
1 Corinthians 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
Luke 11:35 Take heed therefore that the light [God’s spirit] which is in thee be not [does not flicker out and turned to] darkness.
Be FULL of the light of God through the Keeping of the Father’s will and commandments and the strong increase of God’s indwelling spirit. Never compromise or tolerate sin and work day and night to root out all sin! That is how we let the light of God shine in us, for all the world to see!
11:36 If thy whole body therefore be full of light, [the light of God’s Spirit and God’s Word] having no part dark [no sin], the whole [person] shall be full of light [a shining example of godliness], as when the bright shining of a candle [lamp] doth give thee light.
We now come to the counterpart of Matthew 23.
11:37 And as he spake, a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat. 11:38 And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner.
What an outburst from a man who had been asked as a guest to dinner! Jesus had no problem in speaking the truth to anyone!
The Pharisees like many church elders today, do many things for the sake of appearances, just like many worldly politicians. Very many of the brethren are misled by the sheep’s clothing of ravening wolves
11:39 And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness.
Christ commands such men – and there are very many in the assemblies today – to start caring for the flock instead of caring for what people think about them.
11:40 Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also? 11:41 But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you.
God’s people are to KEEP the whole law and Word of God, which includes:
Matthew 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Luke 11:42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Woe unto you elders who love to exalt yourselves above the people.
11:43 Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets.
Woe unto you elders who seek to appear righteous, but who are full of hidden sins; such as clinging to false traditions instead of KEEPING the Word of God, idolizing other men or corporations and teaching the flock of God to commit these sins.
11:44 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them.
Woe unto those who burden the people while feeding themselves, (Eze 34) and not feeding the flock with the pure Word of God.
11:45 Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also. 11:46 And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.
11:47 Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. 11:48 Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.
Woe unto those who speak well of the prophets, Christ and the apostles; and then reject their teachings, refusing to KEEP what they have taught; for such men are no different in their hearts then others who also refused to repent.
11:49 Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute: 11:50 That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; 11:51 From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.
The key to the Kingdom of God is the knowledge of repentance and obedience unto salvation.
Woe unto the elders who do not teach sincere repentance and obedience without any hint of compromise; zealously living by every Word of God!
11:52 Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge [of the way to salvation, by teaching to compromise with the Word of God and substituting your own false traditions for the Word of God; and by reasoning ways around any zeal for God’s commandments]: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.
This correction brought great anger against Christ, and they reasoned how they could trap him in his words and so discredit him.
11:53 And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things: 11:54 Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him.
We are to practice what we preach, living by every Word of God the Father, just as Jesus Christ does.
Luke 12:1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
Those who put on a false front and do not KEEP what they preach, shall be revealed for who and what they are; hypocrites.
12:2 For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.
Today this applies especially to those who feign loyalty to God’s Word, while in reality only using the word “God” to attract followers to themselves. Their wickedness shall be revealed.
12:3 Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.
Do not fear wicked men of power who can kill you, but be absolutely loyal and obedient to the Ultimate JUDGE of all humanity; who will reward or destroy according to HIS WORD.
12:4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. 12:5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell [Gehenna]; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul [pneuma, spirit]: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul [pneuma, spirit] and body in hell.
Do NOT fear physical persecution or even death, for God our Father in Heaven will remember our faithfulness and raise us up to eternal life as spirit.
Luke 12:6 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? 12:7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
If we are faithful followers of Christ as he faithfully follows God the Father and if we acknowledge Him; He will acknowledge us and give us life eternal as a part of his bride; but if we compromise and break his teachings and commandments.
If we deny him by words or deeds; or if we are too ashamed to acknowledge him before men and resort to meaningless phrases like “A strong hand from someplace;” we are NOT worthy of him, we are not worthy to have a part in his collective bride, and we will be denied by Jesus Christ.
12:8 Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God: 12:9 But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.
To repent and seek the gift of the Spirit, and then later refuse to follow it in diligent faithfulness to live by every Word of God the Father; is to QUENCH the Holy Spirit and reject its lead; which puts those who begin to tolerate the sin they committed to abhor at baptism, in grave danger of being rejected by Christ unless they sincerely repent.
The correction of God is for the purpose of saving those who have become complacent and spiritually lazy in following God with true zeal for all of his Word.
Refusing to repent and standing on one’s own ways and false traditions, thinking that we know better, and rejecting God’s Word for our own ways; is embracing the unpardonable sin; calling evil good, and good evil; and refusing to sincerely repent and obey Christ and follow the lead of God’s spirit.
12:10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
We are to prepare ourselves by following the lead of God’s Spirit in diligent study of God’s Word, by meditating on the Word of God day and night like David (Psalm 119); and by being DOERS of the commandments. We are to TEST the spirits by the standard of the whole Word of God.
1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
A godly spirit or person will confess that the Spirit of God the Father and Jesus Christ will dwell in a person and will continue to keep and live by every Word of God the Father (Mat 4:4) in us, thereby empowering us to live by every Word of God the Father in heaven and of Jesus Christ.
4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist,
Any spirit or man who says that we need not be zealous to keep the whole Word of God, and that Jesus Christ cannot empower us to keep God’s Word fully: is the spirit of antichrist. The called out are to strive to be as blameless as Zacharias, Elizabeth, John Baptist and Noah.
God allows false prophets, false teachers and deceiving spirits; to test and prove the loyalty of his people.
Deuteronomy 13:3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
If we do these things, praying in constant communion with God the Father; we shall be FULL of God’s Spirit.
Luke 12:11 And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say: 12:12 For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.
Do not covet worldly things neither covet numbers of followers, nor wealth because much compromise of sound doctrine has come through the coveting of a following or material wealth.
12:13 And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me. 12:14 And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you? 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
The transitory nature of physical wealth
12:16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: 12:17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? 12:18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. 12:19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
It is our duty to please GOD and NOT to put pleasing man above pleasing God, or to covet for ourselves, or our organizations; For our lives are always in God’s hands.
We should not deceive ourselves that we do God a service by doing what we think is right instead of doing what God wants, for he has no need of us, except that we should obey and serve him by KEEPING what he has commanded.
12:20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? 12:21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
The Ekklesia needs to STOP worrying overmuch about physical things and START obeying God with enthusiastic zeal: We need to stop compromising with doctrine to gain followers.
God will call people according to his purpose and schedule; we are only to make an announcement; we are NOT to try and build up some grand organization by watering down doctrine so as to avoid offending folks; and thereby offending Almighty God.
Eternal life is more than the pleasures of this world, and it is worth more than even our physical bodies.
12:22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. 12:23 The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
If we obey him, we can have faith that God will keep his promise of eternal life.
12:24 Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls? 12:25 And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit? 12:26 If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest? 12:27 Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Hunger after and seek to consume [internalize] the Word of God, and thirst to keep his commandments. Do not try to pursue and focus on both physical things and spiritual things, for you will be double minded and will surely offend God who wants your undivided loyalty.
12:28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you [with life eternal], O ye of little faith? 12:29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. 12:30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
Seek to internalize the law and ways of the Kingdom of God, seek to become like God; and you shall be granted eternal life in a spiritual body whose beauty we cannot now understand.
Consider the ugly caterpillar and how after it symbolically dies in its cocoon; it comes out as a beautiful butterfly!
12:31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give [the faithful] you the kingdom.
Do not rely on mammon, nor set your hearts on physical wealth; especially you elders and leaders.
It is the great sin of hypocrisy to speak to the brethren of such things; and then to waste their hard earned gifts on edifices for the sole purpose of impressing the world with how worldly successful you are!
12:33 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
You elders and leaders; your great buildings will come tumbling down; but your abuse of the brethren and your theft of funds from the preaching of the true Gospel, will be long remembered by the God who will judge you.
12:34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
By always ready to meet your God for you do not know the hour of your death. Be clothed with the Word of God, and let the light of God’s Spirit shine brightly through your example of passionate godliness and unwavering obedience to all of God’s Word.
12:35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; 12:36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
Always be awake and watchful, spiritually prepared and ready; for you may die today and if you are not ready God will not choose you as a part of his bride.
If you are ready, having grown in understanding and the practical application of the whole Word of God; you shall be chosen and granted eternal life.
How does the bride of Christ make herself ready? By internalizing the very nature of God through sincere repentance from all sin, and with diligent prayer, study and living by every Word of God and learning to obey our espoused Husband BEFORE the wedding!
Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
Those who are not prepared and who are not watching, will be caught unawares in their sins and shall not be among the chosen in the resurrection to spirit. Only those diligent in continually preparing themselves and watching, joyfully desiring the coming of their Lord, will be ready for the marriage feast.
Luke 12:37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
We should be doing the will of God and living by every Word of God the Father continually, hour by hour and day by day, without any hint of compromise.
12:38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
1 Thessalonians 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
The wide awake watchers who are seeking their LORD and are fully prepared to greet him; WILL NOT be taken by surprise!
5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
Be ready so that you do not lose out
Luke 12:39 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. 12:40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye [most people will not expect him and his coming will take many by surprise] think not.
Who shall be given eternal life and ruler-ship in the Kingdom of God?
The person that will be a part of the collective bride in the resurrection to spirit and will become a king and or priest in the kingdom; is that person who is found diligently growing and overcoming, following God’s Spirit; and KEEPING all the teachings and commandments of God with passionate enthusiasm. It is the person who is found DOING God the Father’s will; that will be chosen!
12:41 Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all? 12:42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household [in the Kingdom], to give them their portion of [spiritual meat (the Word of God) in the Kingdom] meat in due season? 12:43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
12:44 Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.
The person who is NOT watching and is not spiritually prepared, and is involved in worldliness; the person who is compromising with Christ’s teachings and commandments, and tolerating sin: Shall NOT be chosen! He shall be rejected from being a part of the bride!
12:45 But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; 12:46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
12:47 And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
The unconverted who did not know the will of God, shall have much less correction; than the converted that grow lax, lukewarm, complacent and self-willed.
12:48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
Jesus then says that the attacks by Satan’s world against the faithful will bring enough fire on us. We should not bring unnecessary trouble on ourselves from the world, by engaging in worldly wickedness.
12:49 I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?
Jesus was required to fulfil his mission, and he completed his mission to live a perfect life, to die for humanity; and to be resurrected and qualified to ascend to God the Father as our ONLY Mediator and Melchisedec High Priest.
12:50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened [required to do it] till it be accomplished!
Jesus then says that God the Father’s calling to him, will bring much persecution and many trials on the faithful
12:51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: 12:52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
12:53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Jesus then criticizes those who could not discern his Messiah-ship at that time; and those in our day [especially the supposedly converted] who cannot see the signs of his coming.
12:54 And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is. 12:55 And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass. 12:56 Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?
We should repent and agree quickly with Christ, before he completes his judgment of us, so that we may be delivered from his anger; lest we be judged of God the Father as not fit to be a part of the bride.
12:57 Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right? 12:58 When thou goest with thine adversary [if we compromise with God’s ways we have become the adversary of Jesus Christ] to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him [repent and turn to the commandments of God with enthusiastic zeal lest you be judged and condemned by the Father]; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.
There is no escape from the judgment and condemnation of God the Father and the Son; except quick repentance and a passionate turning to God the father and Jesus Christ in unwavering loving obedience.
12:59 I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou hast paid the very last mite [penny].
