Physical idols of stone are types of the idols that we have made of men and organizations. Anything that we obey instead of God’s Word is our idol. Anyone that we exalt as equal to or above God is our idol. It is a gross sin to exalt the messenger above the God who sent the message.
Leviticus 26:1 Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God.
Today one of our greatest sins is to declare the Sabbath holy and then by our actions pollute it and fail to keep it holy. We buy on Sabbath paying others to serve us on the Sabbath and High Days, holding the Word of God [represented by the altar, the table of the Lord] in contempt.
26:2 Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.
If we were zealous to diligently learn and live by every Word of God, we would be blessed with spiritual growth and understanding.
26:3 If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them; 26:4 Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. 26:5 And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.
Just as Mosaic Israel would be blessed for learning and keeping the whole Word of God; so spiritual Israel would be showered with spiritual blessings of increase in understanding and wisdom and by being made fit for the resurrection of the first fruits to spirit; if we would only live by every Word of God. The spiritually faithful need never fear, because the promise of Christ of the resurrection to spirit of the zealously faithful is SURE.
26:6 And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.
In the resurrection to spirit the faithful will be made rulers and teachers in all the earth and all enemies shall flee before them to sincere repentance or total destruction.
26:7 And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword. 26:8 And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.
The Mosaic Covenant is an instructional allegory of the New Covenant
The Mosaic Covenant would be maintained by the zeal of the people to obey and follow their Husband. The New Covenant is maintained by the faithful zeal of the called out to learn and passionately love their Husband to live by every Word of God.
26:9 For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you.
Just as a faithful Mosaic Israel would have to throw out the old grain to make room for the new harvest for very abundance of their physical harvest; faithful spiritual Israel will be resurrected to spirit to be laborers to bring in the vast abundance of the main harvest of humanity. What an honor to be called out to become the laborers of God to bring multitudes into his family!
26:10 And ye shall eat old store, and bring forth the old because of the new.
Just as the God who later gave up his godhood to become flesh as Jesus Christ would dwell in the physical nation of Mosaic Israel if they remained faithful to live by every Word of God, Christ will dwell in the faithful steadfast of the New Covenant who live by every Word of God.
Christ abhors the wicked deeds of evil doers. If we wash away our wickedness through sincere repentance and a dedicated zeal to internalize the whole Word and nature of God, and go forward to sin no more; the abhorrent sins that separate us from God our Father would be covered by the application of the sacrifice of Christ. We are reconciled to God the Father, but if we continue in sin and fail to be zealous to live by every Word of God; then our abhorrent sins remain in us and keep us separated from God.
26:11 And I set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you. 26:12 And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.
Jesus Christ is the Mighty One who has delivered us from bondage to Satan and sin; why would we choose to remain and continue in that bondage? Let us put off the old man of sin and become a new person in Jesus Christ.
26:13 I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright.
If we turn away from any zeal to learn and zealously keep the whole Word of God, we will face the same curses [including on a spiritual level] of the rebellious of Mosaic Israel.
26:14 But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments; 26:15 And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant:
When the Ekklesia preach the “Gospel” today, it is not the true gospel but their own ways and they are sowing that seed in vain because there will be no godly increase; Because those who respond are accepting the false ways being taught and not the truth of the whole Word of God.
By compromising with the Word of God and by doing what we want instead of doing what God commands, we have turned aside from any zeal for the Word of God to follow our own vain imaginations.
26:16 I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
We will surely be cast into the strong correction of great tribulation, if we exalt men, the false traditions of men and organizational entities above any zeal to live by every Word of God.
26:17 And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you. 26:18 And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.
We speak of the breaking of the pride of national power, not considering that the pride of the power of the church of God is being broken because our idolatry and many sins. We are blind to the meaning of the splitting and splitting and the many trials of today’s Ekklesia; and are blind to what is coming upon us because of our rejection of the warnings and our refusal to turn to our Great God in sincere repentance. The efforts of most of today’s spiritual Ekklesia will bring no godly fruits of repentance because we are not godly ourselves!
26:19 And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass: 26:20 And your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits.
We are at the point where we have received a solid and comprehensive warning and most still refuse to sincerely repent, being full of pride in our own ways. Therefore we are about to be spewed out by Jesus Christ (Rev 3:16), into the severe correction of the great tribulation.
26:21 And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.
The wild beasts are literal and represent smaller pests like rats and mice as well as larger wild creatures, which may ultimately include packs of wild starving dogs roaming the streets. And in spiritual terms the “wild beasts” are types of the unconverted attacking as they are motivated by the fury of Satan.
26:22 I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be desolate.
If we do not sincerely repent, Jesus Christ will be against us because we have turned away from him, and he shall cast us into great tribulation for our merciful correction, in the hope that he might save us spiritually by afflicting our flesh.
26:23 And if ye will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me; 26:24 Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins.
The sword of the enemy will fall on both physical and spiritual Israel because of our departure from our baptismal Marriage Covenant with Jesus Christ, to learn and live by every Word of God.
26:25 And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.
With the enemy will come famine and lack of food, and the enemy will take what we do grow in the drought.
26:26 And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight [bread shall be rationed out by ounces]: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied. 26:27 And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me; 26:28 Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.
Some will turn to eating human flesh and possibly even the flesh of their own beloved families out of the madness of intense hunger
26:29 And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.
Jesus Christ is determined to destroy all our idols, and that includes our wealth, our idols of men and corporate churches, and all those things that we pursue instead of being zealous for our God. The term idols includes all things that come between God and his people and all things that we have exalted above the Word of God.
Jesus Christ shall assuredly destroy all of the corporate organizations of the Ekklesia; and he will correct all of his wayward people until they have all learned that The Eternal is God and beside HIM there is NO OTHER, and it is the Eternal who is to be exalted and obeyed above all else.
We MUST learn to question the words of all men by the whole Word of God and to hold fast the good and to reject anything contrary to the Word of God.
26:30 And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you. 26:31 And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours. 26:32 And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it.
Many will be scattered in search of food and water and will flee violence in the land, and others will be made captives and forced to work in dangerous jobs under extremely harsh conditions.
26:33 And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste.
26:34 Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate, and ye be in your enemies’ land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her sabbaths. 26:35 As long as it lieth desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it.
Our people of both physical and spiritual Israel will become full of apprehension, mental insecurity and fear; and people will trample all over one another to escape, often when no one is pursuing.
26:36 And upon them that are left alive of you I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth. 26:37 And they shall fall one upon another, as it were before [in a panic as when being chased by] a sword, when none pursueth: and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies.
Very many will die in their own land, and also in the land of their enemies.
26:38 And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.
When spiritual and physical Israel’s great pride has been crushed to contrition, then the warnings will be remembered, and many will sincerely repent; then God will remember us and deliver us. Messiah will come to resurrect the chosen of spiritual Israel and will then deliver physical Israel. Then the kingdom of God will be established on a Feast of Pentecost.
26:39 And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them.
26:40 If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me; 26:41 And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity: 26:42 Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.
During the tribulation the spiritual Ekklesia will be humbled and will remember the Husband of their espousal and will turn to him with a whole heart. Physical Israel and the nations will also be humbled and will be made ready to accept the coming of Messiah the Christ and his kingdom over all the earth.
The apostate church of God groups, the church of pride and idolatry; will be humbled to contrition and we will be saved! We will remember how we had despised any zeal to live by every Word of God in order to live as we thought right and we will sincerely repent!
26:43 The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her sabbaths, while she lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes.
Our merciful Christ will come to save humanity; so that physical and spiritual Israel and the other nations of men are not totally destroyed from off the earth.
26:44 And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the LORD their God.
How wonderful and faithful is our Husband, our God, our Deliverer; who will not reject us totally in our sin, but who will correct us in the hope that he might save us and grant his eternal promises to us!
26:45 But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the LORD.
26:46 These are the statutes and judgments and laws, which the LORD made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.
