Jesus Christ is the DOOR between the flock and God the Father; the ultimate Good Shepherd. Those called out who faithfully follow the Father are his sheep.
The key to the kingdom of heaven given to Peter and the disciples is the Gospel of the DOOR [Christ]! The gospel of warning, repentance, the washing away of sin and the commitment to sin no more at baptism, and the application of the sacrifice of Christ; is the gospel of salvation; the gospel of the door to God the Father called Jesus Christ!.
Jesus Christ is the ONLY Door and the ONLY Mediator, the ONLY High Priest between men and God the Father.
1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
Jesus Christ is the DOOR to God the Father, the DOOR to salvation. Sincere repentance to “Go and sin no more,” the gift of the Holy Spirit and absolute fidelity to the Holy Scripture, are the Keys to the DOOR of SALVATION!
We must use those keys and open that DOOR! We must follow Christ unwaveringly; or we have NO access to God the Father, and we have NO Salvation.
Anyone who teaches us to compromise with the Word of God, knows neither Christ nor God the Father and is of the Adversary.
John 10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold [any shepherd who is not zealous for Christ and diligent to live by every Word of God the Father is a false shepherd and seeks to steal God’s sheep], but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
10:2 But he that entereth in by the door [of Christ] is the shepherd [He who is zealous to live by Christ and by every Word of God, is a true shepherd from God the Father] of [for God’s flock] the sheep.
Those reconciled to God the Father by entering to him through the DOOR of Christ, are given the keys of the Holy Spirit; which leads us to live by every Word of God in Christ-like zeal. The Holy Spirit sensitizes us to the things of God, giving us understanding of spiritual things and empowering us to understand and KEEP the Word of God.
The Holy Spirit, opens the DOOR of Christ to God the Father! It teaches the sheep the voice of the Father and leads them to follow God the Father.
10:3 To him [God the Father] the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. 10:4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
The truly converted who are close to God and filled with his Spirit will not be led astray! because they are diligent in prayer, study and in doing the Word of God, and in FOLLOWING he lead of the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ and God the Father!
It is those who have gotten lax and turned to following idols of men and false traditions instead of faithfully following God who have fallen away.
10:5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
10:6 This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
The parable explained
10:7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
All those who do not teach a zeal to keep the whole Word of God, are false doors and false teachers!
10:8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture [the spiritual food of sound doctrine].
False teachers who misrepresent Christ and teach a false love based on emotion and not based on law; and who justify willful unrepentant sin; are NOT of Jesus Christ!
They are trying to steal the sheep of God the Father for themselves, getting the sheep to follow themselves for their personal advantage! They seek to enslave the sheep for themselves, while Christ [The DOOR to God the Father] has given himself for the sheep to reconcile them to God the Father!
Following false teachers who use the name of Christ to deceive people into following themselves will bring our destruction. Why will we follow the spiritually blind to our own spiritual destruction?
10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
A new parable of Jesus Christ as the Good Shepherd!
10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
He who serves for position, money or for any other reason, except out of a deep dedication to live as Christ lived; is a hireling; he is not zealous to keep God’s Word and will not be faithful in the end.
10:12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. 10:13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
The true sheep of God know God their Father and Jesus their Good Shepherd and will follow them!
10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
Jesus Christ and God the Father are one in full unity with each other, and their sheep who are faithful to them, will be in full unity with them!
10:15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
Christ alludes to the Gentiles being called out along with Israel
10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
Christ gave his life to be a DOOR to God the Father for ALL humanity who would come to him in sincere repentance to “Go and sin NO more!”
10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
Jesus reveals that no man could kill him and that he has voluntarily given his life to do God the Father’s will.
10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
The carnally minded cannot understand these things
10:19 There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings. 10:20 And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him? 10:21 Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind? 10:22 And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.
Now the people, not understanding the previous claims of Jesus, ask him again if he is Messiah.
10:23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon’s porch. 10:24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
Jesus says that his works bear witness of him, but they could not believe because they had not been called to be among the flock.
10:25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me. 10:26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
The true sheep of God the Father and Christ the Good Shepherd are full of God’s Spirit through diligent study, prayer and diligent internalizing of the nature [Word] of God! They KNOW what is godly and what is not godly; therefore they hear, they understand and they are responsive to the Word of God [the Holy Scriptures]!
If we compromise with the teachings of Christ [for example buying on Sabbath as so many do] we are NOT of Christ the Good Shepherd and are NOT a part of the flock of God the Father. I did not say that, Jesus Christ said that!
10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
The greater Church of God is full of tares trying to lead the sheep away from Christ to follow themselves, but the sheep will follow ONLY Christ and God the Father!
10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them [the zealous truly converted] out of my Father’s hand.
Jesus Christ and God the Father are ONE in FULL UNITY with each other; and we are to become ONE in FULL UNITY with them! We are obligated by our baptismal commitment to Christ and God the Father to become ONE in FULL UNITY with THEM, by zealously keeping their Word: That is our obligation!
We MUST NEVER compromise with our UNITY with Christ and God the Father in the name of a false organizational unity; for organizational unity apart from UNITY with Christ; separates us from Christ and God the Father!
Those organizations who revel in their member’s unity with each other, as a substitute for UNITY with God; are most foolish. To compromise with Christ for the sake of organizational unity is to separate ourselves from Christ the DOOR of salvation. How very very sad that so many have been seduced away from God!
10:30 I and my Father are one.
The Jews understood that Jesus was claiming to be one with God; that is, they thought he was claiming to be equal with God the Father.
10:31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
10:32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? 10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? [Psalm 82]
Psalm 82:6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
Jesus asks them if they think the scripture that calls men Gods is wrong, especially when he does the works of God.
John 10:35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; 10:36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God? 10:37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
Believe that his works are godly, and believe that godly works come from God and that Christ is ONE in FULL UNITY with God the Father.
10:38 But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
Jesus again goes to the Jordan just north of the Dead Sea.
10:39 Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand, 10:40 And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode. 10:41 And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.
10:42 And many believed on him there.
