Jeremiah 23 – 24

Jeremiah 23

Just as God condemned the leaders of Judah in Jeremiah’s time, Jesus Christ rebukes the leaders and the elders of the factions of the latter day Spiritual Ekklesia.  He condemns their coveting of the chief seats and their own ways, which have divided the church into many groups and scattered his people.

The shepherds of today’s flock of God will be sternly corrected for teaching their own ways and not teaching the Word of God in its fullness; and for leading the brethren away from the Word of God to follow idols of men.

Jeremiah 23:1 Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD.

23:2 Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings [the great tribulation], saith the LORD.

After the tribulation, Messiah the Christ the coming King of kings, will give the people shepherds that have overcome and proved themselves faithful to God the Father and who have been chosen and raised up in the resurrection to eternal life.

They will teach the whole flock of God to live by every Word of God, which will then include physical Israel and all humanity who will have been humbled and brought to sincere repentance.

23:3 And I will gather the remnant of my flock [physical Israel] out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. 23:4 And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD.

23:5 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch [the branch of Jesse which is Jesus Christ], and a King [of kings, Jesus Christ] shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in [all] the earth.

In that day all people will seek the righteousness of  the whole Word of God, and they WILL NOT do what is right in their own eyes any longer.

23:6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he [the King of kings] shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

All Israel and all nations will be saved out of their captivity and bondage to Satan and sin, when our Mighty One comes to deliver humanity.

23:7 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that they shall no more say, The LORD liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of

the land of Egypt; 23:8 But, The LORD liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land.

Today nearly all humanity and most of the Spiritual Brotherhood are full of sin and require strong correction.

The heart of Jeremiah was broken because of the false teachings among the people; just like the hearts of the faithful are broken for all the evil in the land and in the  Spiritual Brotherhood today

23:9 Mine heart within me is broken because of the [false] prophets; all my bones shake;

The godly are passionate for the whole Word of God and are overwhelmed by disgust over all the evil, and they are deeply sorrowful over the necessity of correction and the declaration of God’s judgments against the evil in the brethren and in the world.

. . .  I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine hath overcome, because of the LORD, and because of the words of his holiness.

Today there is a drought and famine of the truth of God’s Word because of the spiritual adulteries of today’s Ekklesia with their idols of men and false traditions.

Our troubles are caused because the salt of the Called Out has lost its savor, as today’s Spiritual Ekklesia has lost our zeal for our Mighty God.

Oh, my friends; we are so HOT in our love of men, false traditions and corporate churches with our false leaders and elders!  We burn to do as they tell us but we are at best lukewarm to search out the truth of God and to learn and live by every Word of God.  We blindly follow fallible mortal men without questioning their words to prove them by the whole Word of God.  We exalt them above the Husband of our baptismal betrothal, and commit emotional and spiritual adultery against out LORD.

Because we follow men and not God the Father and Jesus Christ, we are blaspheming when we call ourselves the people of God.

23:10 For the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the land mourneth; the pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up, and their course is evil, and their force is not right.

Remember that all scripture was recorded for our instruction and example and ALL scripture applies to US today.

Many of the leaders and elders of today’s Spiritual  Ekklesia are profane, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men and leading the flock away from God their owner, to follow after idols of men and their false traditions.

23:11 For both prophet and priest are profane [ungodly and full of sin]; yea, in my house [physical and spiritual temple] have I found their wickedness, saith the LORD. 23:12 Wherefore [God will make] their way shall be unto them as slippery ways in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their visitation [the tribulation], saith the LORD.

Just as the religious leaders of Judah and Israel caused them to err in ancient times; so the religious leaders of today’s Spiritual Ekklesia have caused the brethren to err from God in this latter day. Today the called out Ekklesia prophesy by Baal [their idol’s of men and their own false ways] and lead the brethren to follow their idols of man and false traditions away from the Word of God.

Most prophecy for the last days was SEALED by God until there was a need to know in the very last days when God promised to UNSEAL the prophets.  Yet many idolize the errors of the past and refuse the new knowledge that God had promised to reveal in the very last days, (Daniel 12:4 and Daniel 12:9-10).

23:13 And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied in Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.

The leaders and most of the elders of ancient Israel caused the people to err and Israel was removed by the Assyrians about 721 B.C.

God now warns Israel/Judah and today’s Spiritual Ekklesia that they will likewise be corrected.

23:14 I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness; they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.

Today’s Spiritual Ekklesia are full of emotional and spiritual adultery against the Husband of their baptismal espousal; they walk in false teachings [lies] and they will not repent of idolizing men and exalting them and their words above the Word of God.

The promised godly correction of the unrepentant leaders and elders of today’s Ekklesia will be as severe as the correction of the ancient false teachers of Israel and Judah. They will be corrected with bitter sorrows because they have led the people away from God to idolize men.

23:15 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with wormwood [bitterness], and make them drink the water of gall [bitterness]: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is profaneness gone forth into all the land.

God tells us NOT to even listen to the teachings of men who are not zealous to live by every Word of God; for they teach their own ways contrary to the Word of God; they live by their pride in themselves and they do not live by every Word of God.

23:16 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD.

The following is the classic false teaching in today’s Spiritual Ekklesia.

“You will have peace and no evil shall come upon you if you diligently follow us. Don’t question us or condemn our sins and departure from God’s Word, just close your eyes to our evil doings in the congregations and you will have peace and safety in us.”

Such wickedness joins us to idols of men and separates us from God the Father and Jesus Christ, and we will surely be corrected by them as apostates and sinners against the Word of God.

23:17 They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.

Because few have stood on the solid foundation of the Word of God; God’s fury will go forth against today’s Spiritual Ekklesia like a whirlwind, to afflict those who do such wickedness.

23:18 For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it? 23:19 Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.

This happened to Judah in the days of Jeremiah as a lesson that we should not commit the same sins or we will surely reap the same correction.

23:20 The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.

The men who prophesy lies in the name of the Lord; saying that their followers will not taste the tribulation of correction, and who stand on false traditions and the idolizing of men will not prosper.

23:21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.

We are to stand on every Word of God and we are not to stand on the false traditions of men; we are to love God more than we love men and corporate churches; we are to learn and live by every Word of God and we are NOT to idolize men.

23:22 But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.

Jesus Christ has heard and knows what is done by the people; who lie, calling themselves by the name of the God when they will not keep the Word of God and they live in rebellion against God’s Word following idols of men.

23:23 Am I a God at hand [who is present with us], saith the LORD, and not a God afar off? 23:24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD. 23:25 I have heard what the prophets [leaders and speakers teach] said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.

How long will the elders and leaders lead people away from living by every Word of God to follow themselves and their false traditions?  How long will they exalt a dead man above the Word of God?  How long will they make and bow before idols [baals] of men and corporate entities?

23:26 How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; 23:27 Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal.

The zealous for God must speak out against the false teachers (Ez 33, Lev 19:17); and declare the Word of the LORD to the brethren.

God’s Word is a consuming fire that will destroy the false words of the wicked.

23:28 The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD. 23:29 Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?

Jesus Christ, who inspired the Holy Scriptures, is against all those who speak their own words and teach their false traditions. God is against those who tolerate heresy and sin while falsely claiming that they are teaching the Word of God.

God is against those who steal God’s Word out of the brethren by replacing the Word of God with their idolatry and false teachings.

23:30 Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets [speakers], saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbour.

23:31 Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that use their tongues, and say, He saith. [When the Eternal has NOT said any such thing!]   23:32 Behold, I am against them that prophesy [speak, teach falsely] false dreams, saith the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness [taking lightly the Word of God]; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith the LORD.

God is against those who teach from their own imaginations to deceive people to follow after themselves, and do not teach people to learn and live by every Word of God.

God will not burden himself with those who depart from zeal for him to do their own ways.  Jesus Christ WILL NOT tolerate heresy and false doctrines which separate the people from him, but he will cast the wicked into severe correction (Rev 3:14-22).

The burden of the LORD is a reference to the words which God tells his servants the prophets to speak.  Here God says that he will forsake the people and their false prophets: He will do this by rejecting them into the severe correction of great tribulation (Rev 3:14-22)

23:33 And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying, What is the burden of the LORD? thou shalt then say unto them, What burden? I will even forsake you, saith the LORD.

Those who keep and teach their own ways and are not zealous for learning and living by every Word of God, and yet call themselves godly and call upon God the Father to accept them in spite of their unrepentant sin; will be corrected by Jesus Christ in great affliction, in the hope that they will repent of their gross pride and  stubborn self-will.

23:34 And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say, The burden of the LORD, [those who falsely claim to speak for God will be punished] I will even punish that man and his house.

Repent quickly and seek to learn and live by every Word of God. When someone asks you a question do you answer: “Well the church teaches” or “this man  said”; or do you answer; “The scriptures say this” and then quote and stand on the whole Word of God?

23:35 Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbour, and every one to his brother, What hath the LORD answered? and, What hath the LORD spoken?

Because today’s Ekklesia has followed mortal men and idolized their words, and has not proven out men’s words by the whole Word of God; and because the teachers have twisted and perverted many of the words of scripture to support their errors; God will strongly correct us, and God will not deliver us until we have learned our lesson.

23:36 And the burden of the LORD shall ye mention no more: for every man’s word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts our God.

We are to say: Teach us every Word of God!

23:37 Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath the LORD answered thee? and, What hath the LORD spoken?

Because we call ourselves godly as we idolize men and refuse the knowledge of the Word of God, and then we declare that we are the people of God and that God must and will care of us: Because we call upon God to take care of us and we refuse to learn and keep his Word following idols of men instead of the Word of God and thus have made ourselves sovereign and God subject to ourselves: God will reject us!

Let us repent quickly and turn with enthusiastic zeal to learn and to live by every Word of God, and follow God the Father in Christ-like zeal; not following men teaching contrary to the Word of God, lest we be rejected by the Husband of our baptismal espousal.

23:38 But since ye say, The burden of the LORD; therefore thus saith the LORD; Because ye say this word, The burden of the LORD, and I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The burden of the LORD; 23:39 Therefore, behold, I, even I, will utterly forget you, and I will forsake you, and the city that I gave you and your fathers, and cast you out of my presence: 23:40 And I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten.

Jeremiah 24

After the first [604 B.C.] wise men were sent to help Nebuchadnezzar organize his empire and then another wave of people was sent to Babylon [597 B.C.]; Jesus Christ gave Jeremiah the instructional example of the figs.

On March 15/16th, 597 BC,   Jehoiachin [aka Jeconiah aka Coniah], his entire household and three thousand Jews were were to Babylon.  This was the second batch of exiles who went to Babylon ten years before the final fall of Jerusalem.

Jeremiah 24:1 The LORD shewed me, and, behold, two baskets of figs were set before the temple of the LORD, after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the carpenters and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.

One basket was of very good figs and the other had in it spoiled and bad [rotting] figs.

24:2 One basket had very good figs, even like the figs that are first ripe: and the other basket had very naughty figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad. 24:3 Then said the LORD unto me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the evil, very evil, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.

Then the God who later gave up his God-hood to be made flesh as Jesus Christ told Jeremiah that the good figs represent those who sincerely repent and turn to him with a whole heart; saying that they will be accepted by God and brought back to Jerusalem.

This was miraculously fulfilled by Cyrus, Darius, Joshua, Zerubabbel, Ahasuerus, Esther, Ezra and Nehemiah.  See how this was fulfilled by downloading and reading our manuscript “From Abram to Jesus.”

God states that the correction on ancient Israel by the Assyrians and later by Babylon on Judah, and today’s hour of trial are FOR OUR GOOD to save us from eternal death by bringing us to sincere repentance!

24:4 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 24:5 Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good. 24:6 For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.

After the latter day tribulation, the Spiritual Ekklesia, all Israel and all humanity will be deeply sincerely repentant and God’s Spirit will be poured out on all flesh (Joel 2:28).

24:7 And I will give them an heart to know me [the repentant will be given the Holy Spirit, so this is speaking of the post tribulation New Covenant of Jeremiah 31:31 and Ezekiel 36:25-28.], that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.

The unrepentant of today’s Spiritual Ekklesia [spiritual Israel] will suffer the just consequences of their actions, just like the unrepentant in Jeremiah’s days were afflicted as an instructional example for us.

Today both physical and spiritual Israel will be corrected one last time, to prepare us for the coming of Messiah the Christ to deliver humanity.

24:8 And as the evil figs, which cannot be eaten, they are so evil; surely thus saith the LORD, So will I give Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and them that dwell in the land of Egypt: 24:9 And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them. 24:10 And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers.
