Isaiah 49 – 50

Isaiah 49

A prophecy of Jesus Christ in the flesh

Isaiah 49:1 Listen, O isles [nations], unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me [Jesus Christ] from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.  49:2 And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me; 49:3 And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.

49:4 Then I said, I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the LORD, and my work with my God.

God unhappy with Israel?Judah who has failed to be an example of righteousness for all the nations.  He then declares that his calling of Israel shall not have been in vain, and that his work will bring forth the fruit of righteousness in the end.

49:5 And now, saith the LORD that formed me [Jesus Christ] from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.  49:6 And he [the Father] said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.

God the Father said that Christ would not only save Israel, he would also save the gentiles.

49:7 Thus saith the LORD [YHVH made flesh in the person of Jesus Christ], the Redeemer of Israel, and his [God the Father’s] Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee.

A prophecy of the rulers who came to worship Christ at his birth; and the rulers who shall repent and bow before him, worshiping him when he comes to establish the Kingdom of God as King of kings over all the earth.

Jeremiah 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

The Father said that he would resurrect Christ and will make his death the blood sacrifice of a New Covenant, to establish the earth in the righteousness of every Word of God.

Isaiah 49:8 Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee [give Messiah the Lamb of God in sacrifice for a New Covenant] for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;   49:9 That thou mayest say to the prisoners [of sin and death], Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Shew yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places.

Jesus Christ has set the repentant prisoners of sin free, by his sacrifice of himself for their ransom.

49:10 They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them.

The faithful sincerely repentant will be filled with the righteousness of God the Father and Jesus Christ, through learning and internalizing the Bread of Life through living by every Word of God; and they will receive the waters of the Holy Spirit of eternal life.

The Word of God is sound doctrine and is the highway to salvation.

To justify standing on false traditions and to reject the truth of the scriptures [like the sanctity of the Sabbath and the Biblical Calendar] is to reject the way to life eternal and to turn away from God the Father and Jesus Christ.

Let me be clear that the life of a converted person consists of learning and growing in the truth [doctrine] of God the Father and Jesus Christ which is living by the whole body of scripture which he inspired.

When a person is working hard to learn he is not accountable for what he does not yet know: Yet he would be held accountable for rejecting learning and refusing to accept truth when it is revealed to him.

It is our calling to learn and when we refuse to progress, we are rejecting our calling to continue to grow and become more and more like God the Father and Jesus Christ.

49:11 And I will make all my mountains [governments, leaders] a way [of salvation], and my highways [the Word of God] shall be exalted.

In the Kingdom of God all peoples will be humbled and repent and come to worship God through living by every Word of God

49:12 Behold, these shall come from far: and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.

49:13 Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth [all people]; and break forth into singing, O mountains [nations and governments]: for the LORD hath comforted [saved] his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted.

If, in the tribulation, spiritual and physical Israel/Judah should be discouraged: Take comfort in these words and repent quickly.

49:14 But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me.

49:15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. 49:16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

49:17 Thy children [the people of spiritual and physical Israel] shall make haste [to repent]; thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth [be taken away from] of thee.

All nations will come to God in sincere repentance and they shall acknowledge Jerusalem as the world capital and will then be grafted into the New Covenant Spiritual Israel of Jeremiah 31.

49:18 Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and come to thee. As I live, saith the LORD, thou shalt surely clothe thee with them all, as with an ornament, and bind them on thee, as a bride doeth.  49:19 For thy waste and thy desolate places, and the land of thy destruction, shall even now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants, and they that swallowed thee up shall be far away. 49:20 The children which thou shalt have, after thou hast lost the other, shall say again in thine ears, The place is too strait for me: give place to me that I may dwell.

Many in the tribes of Israel will return to Palestine from Egypt to the Euphrates and they will overflow that land; and many will remain to their previous end time locations.

49:21 Then shalt thou say in thine heart, Who hath begotten me these, seeing I have lost my children, and am desolate, a captive, and removing to and fro? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?

If in tribulation we think that we are desolate; Jesus Christ has promised to deliver us; and he will keep his word.

49:22 Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders. 49:23 And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.

The people of physical Israel will be helped back to their land by the repentant Gentiles.

49:24 Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered? 49:25 But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away [delivered from them], and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.

Jesus Christ will humble humanity and save all the sincerely repentant; then all of humanity will become the seed of Abraham – the Father of the faithful – in the spiritual New Covenant sense.

The unrepentant wicked will perish

49:26 And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.

Isaiah 50

Jesus Christ explains that he did not divorce Israel, rather Israel turned away from him; neither did he give her up to creditors; but their sins separated Israel from him.

This is a message to today’s Spiritual Ekklesia that the only thing that can separate us from the love of God the Father and Jesus Christ is our sins and our departure from God!  Even then, God’s love burns hot and he works to bring us quickly to sincere repentance and cause us to return to him in passionate love for him and zeal for every Word of God.

Isaiah 50:1 Thus saith the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother’s divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.

Isaiah 59:1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Isaiah 50:2 Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver?

Jesus asks why so few have repented and men go their own ways instead of living by every Word of God.

. . . behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst. 50:3 I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.

Jesus Christ will correct the sinful who are not zealous to live by every Word of God and who instead do what is right in their own eyes.

50:4 The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

A prophecy of Christ and his example [which we are to follow] of steadfastness to God the Father, in spite of all his sufferings; he taught the law and wisdom of God the Father zealously throughout his ministry.

50:5 The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.

Jesus Christ was absolutely faithful to God the Father

50:6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair [beard]: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

Messiah the Christ was smitten with the whip and spat upon, yet he remained faithful to God the Father in heaven to keep and to teach both the letter and the intent or spirit of every Word of God, and we are to do likewise.

Doctrine [the whole Word of God the Father] was IMPORTANT to Jesus Christ!

50:7 For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

Jesus Christ set his heart like a solid rock, to obey and do the will of God the Father in heaven as an example that we are to do likewise.  Those who follow this example and do as Jesus Christ did shall never be ashamed; for God the Father will accept them as his own children.

Jesus was accepted by God the Father; whosoever contends with Jesus Christ argues with God the Father.

WHO ARE WE; that we should stand on our idols of organizations and mere mortal men, to contend with Christ by following idols of men and false traditions instead of living by every Word of God?  WHO ARE WE; to stand on the false traditions of men when they are shown to be contrary to the Word of God?

Those who resist living by every Word of God are against Jesus Christ and they will suffer grave correction; and if they remain unrepentant they will perish and be burned to ashes: Therefore repent quickly.

50:8 He is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me? let us stand together: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me. 50:9 Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.

God the Father would help Jesus Christ, resurrecting him from the dead because of his faithfulness to live by every Word of God.

Trust in the name [reputation, word, commandments, teachings and power] of God the Father, like Jesus Christ did; obey the word of the servant of the Father, Jesus Christ: Stand on the Word of our God with all your being!

None who trust in God the Father and Jesus Christ and live by every Word of God; will be left in darkness regarding the way to Salvation!

50:10 Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.

If we walk in the light of every Word of God; we will not be in the darkness of ignorance like the person who says that doctrine is of no importance.

50:11 Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.

Those who try to create their own light to walk by; producing false teachings from their own imaginations and refusing to sincerely repent and live by every Word of God will die in much sorrow.
