Isaiah 3 – 5

Isaiah 3

Isaiah 3:1 For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water. 3:2 The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient, 3:3 The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.

Many elders and brethren in today’s Spiritual Ekklesia refuse any zeal to live by every Word of God and instead exalt idols of men and corporate entities above the Word of God.

3:4 And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.

The brethren who are zealous for godliness are persecuted and oppressed by foolish shepherds in today’s Spiritual Ekklesia.

3:5 And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.

During the tribulation no man will want to lead, for every man will be fully occupied with obtaining the necessities of life.

3:6 When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand: 3:7 In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.

Because of the multitudes of our compromising sins and law breaking, our tolerance of sin and false teachings and our many words to justify our sins against the Word of God:  Our nations and the Laodicean church of God will fall and will be crushed by the will of our God.

3:8 For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue [words]  and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

Jerusalem was ruined by Nebuchadnezzar in the days of Jeremiah and it will be occupied for 42 months before Messiah comes in our time (Rev 11:2).

The list of our sins is very long; and we are adamant to sin and to justify our sins, just as we are adamant in declaring our own righteousness.  We openly declare that the Sabbaths are holy and then we openly pollute them and the same with the Holy Days. We openly reject the truth of God’s Biblical Calendar for the false traditions of men, we idolize men and organizations above the Word of God and much more.

3:9 The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.

Those zealous to live by every Word of God will inherit eternal life and a good reward, while the lukewarm and wicked will have stern correction and if they remain unrepentant, destruction will be their reward.

3:10 Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their [zeal to live by every Word of God] doings. 3:11 Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

Many of our leaders and elders are leading us away from God the Father and Jesus Christ and leading us to follow themselves and their false traditions, rather than teaching us a Christ-like  zeal to live by every Word of God the Father.  They present themselves as God’s leaders, which is a terrible lie to deceive; for the servants of God would be obeying God and teaching others to do likewise!

3:12 As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.

Some of our tough leaders are really henpecked husbands, dominated and controlled by their wives. The truth is not always right out in the open.  Our leaders and elders do eat up the people, taking their goods and making merchandise of them, causing the people to be followers of men and false traditions, and NOT followers of Jesus Christ and every Word of God the Father.

Therefore, Christ will plead with these deceivers in the fire of tribulation; and these foolish shepherds will be judged by God the Father, the owner of the flock.

3:13 The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people. 3:14 The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients [elders] of his people, and the princes [leaders] thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard [consumed the brethren]; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.

Jesus Christ will call the bad shepherds to account.

3:15 What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

God will reveal the secret things of the latter day Ekklesia as well as the secrets of the latter day descendants of physical Israel.  He shall also smite us with sickness and disease.

3:16 Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet: 3:17 Therefore the LORD will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.

In the tribulation, God will utterly destroy our great self-righteous pride and will take away all our self-glorying, and God will reveal the stink that our self-justification is in HIS nostrils because of all our sinfulness.

3:18 In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon, 3:19 The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers, 3:20 The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings, 3:21 The rings, and nose jewels, 3:22 The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins, 3:23 The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.

3:24 And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty. 3:25 Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.

Those lukewarm for the Word of God, who persecute and oppress the zealous in today’s Spiritual Ekklesia; shall come to lament their sins as they are humbled like Job.

3:26 And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.

Isaiah 4

The tribulation will be especially hard on the men and very many will die, leaving only one man for every seven women.

Isaiah 4:1 And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.

The repentant who turn from sin and have remained zealously attached to the true vine, Jesus Christ (John 15); will be chosen and resurrected to a glorious eternal life.  They will rule the nations, teaching all people the ways of God and the Words of life eternal; and all Israel and all the earth shall be blessed.

4:2 In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel.

All peoples will sincerely repent and God’s Spirit will be poured out on all flesh (Joel 2:28).  Jerusalem and all its inhabitants shall be made holy by the presence of the Christ the King of kings, and he shall purge out all sin and cleanse all the nations from sin beginning at Zion and Jerusalem.

4:3 And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem: 4:4 When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning [the cleansing fire of the Holy Spirit].

Then all people shall know that Messiah the true Christ is present, and they shall turn to wholeheartedly live by every Word of God!

4:5 And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for upon all the glory shall be a defence.

4:6 And there shall be a tabernacle [a protective tent] for a shadow in the day time from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain.

The Ezekiel Temple will be built by Messiah in Jerusalem after he comes.

Isaiah 5

Jesus Christ the Messiah will unite Israel and Judah and gather them to himself and the resurrected David will rule over them as one nation (Ez 34:23-24, Ez 37:24-25).

Isaiah 5:1 Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill: 5:2 And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.

Jesus Christ will lavish his love on Jerusalem and he will lavish his love on his called out and give to them the good things of the Word of God.  He cleansed us of sin, shedding his own blood to the death for us; he gave us of his Spirit, his very nature.  He cared for us like a loving spouse and gave us of his spiritual wisdom; only to be rejected by many of his people who preferred their own ways to the wisdom and righteousness of the Word of God.

Oh, we pay lip-service to God’s Word alright but then we do as we think is right in our own eyes and we will not live by every Word of God!

5:3 And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard. 5:4 What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?

What will our Lord do to those he loves and hopes to save? He corrected Judah in Babylon and he will correct us also.

Will he not awaken the spiritual sluggard with the affliction of tribulation, and destroy our pride and spiritual complacency in order to wake us up and save us?

Will he not call us to repentance and to a passionate zeal to live by every Word of God destroying our zeal for our own ways and our lukewarmness for God’s Word with the fire of affliction; so that we may be turned back to an enthusiastic wholehearted passionate zeal to live by every Word of God and be saved?

5:5 And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge  [the defenses] thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall [the defenses] thereof, and it shall be trodden down: 5:6 And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.

Brethren, WE are the spiritual vineyard of Christ!

If Israel and Judah are the vineyard of the LORD; how much more is the New Covenant Ekklesia the vineyard of the LORD?

5:7 For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of [spiritual] Israel, and the men of [spiritual] Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.

Woe unto those who think they are strong and righteous because of their numbers and physical wealth!

5:8 Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone [wealthy and strong] in the midst of the earth!

Our impressive organizations and grand edifices will be destroyed; these great buildings and organizations were built by us only to be destroyed to humble our arrogant pride.   Consider that Jesus Christ did not spare the magnificent temple in Jerusalem.

Jeremiah 7:3   Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place. 7:4  Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the Lord, The temple of the Lord, The temple of the Lord, are these.

Turn to our Deliverer and put our trust in HIM!  Put NO trust in our worldly wealth and numbers, nor in our pride, possessions and false tradition; but turn to our Mighty God, and all his will, ways and Holy Law.

The Mighty One delivered Israel from Pharaoh, and later sent physical Israel and Judah into captivity for all their transgressions; do not think that he will spare us because we claim to be his people [just like they did] as we follow our own idols.

Isaiah 5:9 In mine ears said the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.

Just as physical Judah was brought low by ancient Babylon, so the proud unrepentant of today’s Spiritual Ekklesia will be brought low and humbled.

Jeremiah speaks of the famine during the Babylonian siege of Jerusalem.

5:10 Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield an ephah.

Hebrew liquid measure, the tenth part of an homer ( 1 Kings 7:26  1 Kings 7:38 ;  Ezekiel 45:10  Ezekiel 45:14: is 3.5 quarts or liters).

An omer contained 8 gallons and 3 quarts of our measure. “Ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath” (Isaiah 5:10) denotes great famine.

Just as ancient Judah was intoxicated with arrogant pride; Woe unto those in today’s Spiritual Ekklesia who intoxicate themselves with false teachings, pride, self- justification and delusions of righteousness.

5:11 Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!

Physical Judah and today’s Spiritual Ekklesia and some other religious people do rejoice in the Feasts, and yet have no zeal to wholeheartedly live by every Word of God.  Instead they rejoice because they think themselves righteous as they do what is right in their own eyes; not realizing that in God’s eyes we are destitute of godly righteousness.

Revelation 3:16   So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. 3:17  Because thou sayest, I am [spiritually] rich, and increased with [spiritual knowledge] goods, and have need of nothing [no one, not even Christ through the scriptures can teach us anything];  and knowest not that thou art [spiritually] wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

Isaiah 5:12 And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands.

Laodicea [Definition: the people will be judged and corrected], is very soon going into great tribulation because they have rejected the knowledge of the Word of God for their own ways; and their leaders and elders are willfully ignorant, closing their eyes to the truth that could be learned through zealously living by every Word of God.  Therefore because they reject knowledge, God the Father and Jesus Christ will reject them:

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou [The elders in today’s Spiritual Ekklesia reject knowledge and refuse to teach the brethren knowledge of godliness.] hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

The water of the Holy Spirit which is given to those who OBEY God the Father and Jesus Christ (Acts 5:32), has been quenched through our disobedience and lack of zeal to live by every Word of God.

Isaiah 5:13 Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.

The tribulation is God’s merciful correction of the unrepentant proud, who think themselves righteous and needing nothing spiritually.  The unrepentant lukewarm for the Word of God shall be cast into great tribulation in the hope that by the affliction of the flesh the spirit might be saved.

Our self-righteous pride in ourselves will be brought down to hell and the grave, being totally destroyed.

5:14 Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.

Those who are lukewarm to live by every Word of God, who prefer to stand on false traditions and exalt men and organizations above the Word of God, will be humbled by our Mighty One and he will be exalted in the eyes of every person.

5:15 And the mean [lowly, poor] man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled: 5:16 But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.

In the Kingdom of God the spiritual lambs of the flock of God shall feed on the Word of God, filling themselves with the Unleavened Bread and the Waters of Eternal Life!

5:17 Then shall the lambs feed after their manner, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers eat.

Woe to all those who claim to be godly while rejecting the truth of Holy Scripture and standing on false traditions, exalting men and organizations in idolatry, and engaging in unrepentant sin against the Holy One!

5:18 Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope: 5:19 That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it!

Woe unto the evil shepherds who lead the flock away from sound doctrine and the good food of the Word of God!  Woe unto those who think they are wise in their own eyes and teach false ways; causing people to sin and turn away from zeal to live by every Word of God and into the idolatry of pride in their leaders and organizations, loving them more than they love God.

5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 5:21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

Woe unto the spiritually intoxicated, drunk with arrogant pride; who think that they know better than God’s Word and reject knowledge.

Woe unto the elders who know better and still teach the brethren to support wicked leaders and false teachings for a pay cheque and deceive the righteous out of their zeal to live by every Word of God!

5:22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: 5:23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

God is NOT a respecter of persons!  Just as he brought the captivity of physical Israel and Judah in times past; he will also correct us for the same wickedness!

The leaders and elders of today’s called out Spiritual Ekklesia who stand on false traditions and reject the knowledge of God; who are wise in their own eyes while being spiritually ignorant because they reject knowledge; who idolize men and organizations, committing spiritual adultery by following men instead of our espoused Husband: Shall be corrected with great tribulation with much bitter sorrow.

Galatians 6:7   Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 6:8  For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Isaiah 5:24 Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

If physical Israel were the people of God; how much more is the New Covenant Spiritual Ekklesia the people of God?  If physical Israel was corrected because of sin; how much more will we be corrected because of the same sins?

Brethren, we have kindled the anger of our LORD; our only hope is to repent quickly and entreat him for his great mercy because the fire of correction is at our door.

5:25 Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets.  For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

The fire and affliction of great tribulation is at our door and will begin when the miracle working false prophet goes to the Holy Place (Mat 24:15).

5:26 And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly: 5:27 None shall be weary nor stumble among them; none shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken:

Modern war machines are even more fearful and devastating.  Do not be deceived by the coming victory and a peace agreement, for when peace is declared we shall be suddenly and unexpectedly fall (1 Thess 5:3).

5:28 Whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent, their horses’ hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind: 5:29 Their roaring shall be like a lion, they shall roar like young lions: yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry it away safe, and none shall deliver it.  5:30 And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea: and if one look unto the land, behold darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.
