Isaiah 19 – 22

Isaiah 19

Isaiah 19:1 The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud [to correct Egypt and bring them to repentance], and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt [the courage of the Egyptians shall flee away leaving them at the mercy of the New Europe, just as the heart of Egypt melted at the coming of Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon] shall melt in the midst of it.

This was a prophecy of the coming of Nebuchadnezzar into Egypt, and that was an allegory of this latter day, when the New Federal Europe [Babylon the Great] will take control of Egypt and take her revenues [from the canal and the gas fields];  and the Egyptians will be reduced to fighting among themselves for the necessities of life.

In the immediate future the nations of Psalm 83 [Turkey, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, the Palestinians and Gazans, and the Arab States] will ally with the now rising New Federal Europe; while Egypt will remain in the US – Jewish State alliance until the coming New Federal Europe takes control of Egypt and Africa as the Petrodollar collapses and the US declines.

19:2 And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom. 19:3 And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards.

The courage, pride and wisdom of Egypt will fail, and they shall seek unto their religious traditions to save them, and the Egyptians will NOT be delivered until Messiah the Christ comes.

Daniel 11:42    He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape. 11:43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt:

The king of the north [the New Europe] will overcome Egypt and rule over them.  The precious things of Egypt are the Suez Canal, the energy corridors from South Sudan and Darfur, and Egyptian natural gas.

Isaiah 19:4 And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts.

The ruler of the New Europe will treat the Egyptians brutally just as Nebuchadnezzar did.

19:5 And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and dried up. 19:6 And they shall turn the rivers far away; and the brooks of defence shall be emptied and dried up: the reeds and flags shall wither. 19:7 The paper reeds by the brooks, by the mouth of the brooks, and every thing sown by the brooks, shall wither, be driven away, and be no more.

19:8 The fishers also shall mourn, and all they that cast angle into the brooks shall lament, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall languish. 19:9 Moreover they that work in fine flax, and they that weave networks, shall be confounded. 19:10 And they shall be broken in the purposes thereof, all that make sluices and ponds for fish.

The river Nile and its branches which water Egypt were dried up in Nebuchadnezzar’s time, possibly by lack of rain to the south when Babylon came down against Egypt; and this may well happen again in our time.  A lack of rain drying up the Nile is an indication that all of lower and central Africa shall also suffer greatly from lack of water.

19:11 Surely the princes of Zoan are fools, the counsel of the wise counsellors of Pharaoh is become brutish: how say ye unto Pharaoh, I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings? 19:12 Where are they? where are thy wise men? and let them tell thee now, and let them know what the LORD of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt. 19:13 The princes of Zoan are become fools, the princes of Noph are deceived; they have also seduced Egypt, even they that are the stay of the tribes thereof.

Isaiah mocks the magicians and wise men of Egypt in his day, just as Elijah mocked the prophets of Baal.

19:14 The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit. 19:15 Neither shall there be any work for Egypt, which the head or tail, branch or rush, may do.

Jesus Christ confuses the counsels of the wicked who trust in false traditions.  Yes, absolutely; Jesus Christ is the author of division among the enemies of God

Jesus Christ is at this very moment confusing the counsels of many of the corporate idols of today’s Spiritual Ekklesia, who stand on their false traditions of men, tolerate and stand on false doctrines [teachings] and reject any zeal to live by every Word of God.

19:16 In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the LORD of hosts, which he shaketh over it.

By the time Christ comes, the pride of Egypt [and all humanity as well] will be totally crushed, and every one that remains alive after the destruction of the armies surrounding Jerusalem will be terrified and will submit to the King of kings.

19:17 And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.

When Christ comes with his resurrected saints, the Egyptians will sincerely repent and will fear Judah; because of the presence of the Mighty One of Jacob [Israel] at Jerusalem.

19:18 In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan [the five cities of Gaza which spoke Canaanite in Isaiah’s time], and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.

The five cities of Gaza and vicinity, whose native citizens are descendants of the Philistines the brothers of the Egyptians, will also sincerely repent and vow allegiance to Messiah the LORD of Hosts when he comes, and true peace will be realized between Gaza and the united tribes of Israel/Judah.

19:19 In that day shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD. 19:20 And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors [the now rising New Federal Europe], and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one [Messiah the Christ] , and he shall deliver them.

When Messiah rules in Jerusalem, the Egyptians will repent and turn to him.  They will exalt the Mighty One, the Savior of all humanity.

19:21 And the LORD shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation; yea, they shall vow a vow [of sincere repentance and a baptismal commitment to live by every Word of God] unto the LORD, and perform it [from thenceforth living by every Word of God].

19:22 And the LORD shall smite Egypt: he shall smite and heal it: and they shall return even to the LORD, and he shall be intreated of them, and shall heal them.

After Egypt has been humbled in tribulation, they will turn to Messiah the Christ in sincere repentance, and Christ will heal them spiritually and physically; just like Israel, Judah and all the rest of humanity will repent and turn to the KING of kings and the HIGH PRIEST of Salvation!

19:23 In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve [God] with the Assyrians.

There will be a highway from Egypt to Jerusalem and from Assyria [found today in the west central Europe region of Germany, Austria and Hungary] to Jerusalem and the Egyptians and Assyrians shall serve the Lord of Hosts!

This means that the way will be opened by God like it was for Israel when they came out of Egypt and does not necessarily mean a literal road.

After they repent to diligently learn and live by every Word of God, the Egyptians and the Assyrians will be at peace with Israel/Judah and they will travel to worship God at the Festivals of the LORD in the Ezekiel Temple at Jerusalem.

19:24 In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land: 19:25 Whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.

In the Kingdom of God, Jesus Christ will bless the whole of the twelve tribes of Israel, the Egyptians and the Germanic peoples [Assyrians] with peace between them, and they shall all repent and serve the Eternal with all their beings!

The great tribulation will be a terrible time of affliction, yet it will bring the repentance and saving of today’s lukewarm and apostate Spiritual Ekklesia; and it will also bring all nations to sincere repentance opening the way to salvation for all humanity living at that time by humbling them before God and making them repentant and teachable in the Sound Doctrine of the Holy Scriptures.

Isaiah 20

The date this prophecy was given, was the year in which Ashdod fell to Assyria.

Isaiah 20:1 In the year that Tartan [the Field Marshal] came unto Ashdod, (when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him,) and fought against Ashdod, and took it;

This prophecy against Egypt and Ethiopia came to Isaiah when the Assyrians took Ashdod.

20:2 At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

20:3 And the LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked [wearing only sackcloth] and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia; 20:4 So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, even with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt. 20:5 And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.

The nations that were subjugated by Sargon will again ask in this latter day: “Where can we flee from Assyria [as part of the Babylon the Great of the New Europe], there is no escape”

Revelation 13:3   And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed [the New Europe of Babylon shall rise up]: and all the world wondered after the beast. 13:4  And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

13:5  And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. 13:6  And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

The final ruler of the now rising New Federal Europe will blaspheme through the false doctrines of the final false prophet; who teaches people to live contrary to the Word of God.

13:7  And it was given unto him to make war with the [With today’s Spiritual Ekklesia who lack any zeal to live by every Word of God]  saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over [to deceive all peoples except those who are faithful to God] all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship [be in awe of this new entity in Europe] him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Isaiah 20:6 And the inhabitant of this isle shall say in that day, Behold, such is our expectation, whither we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria: and how shall we escape?

Just as people were terrified and found no place to escape the ancient Assyrians, so the now rising New Federal Europe will awe the nations in our time.

Isaiah 21

A prophecy of the desert peoples [the Arab States] and how the armies of Asia will destroy them for their alliance with Babylon the Great [the New Europe]

Isaiah 21:1 The burden of the desert of the sea [the sea of sand, the desert land]. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; so it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land.

As these desert dwellers of Arabia, Syria and  Jordan have made themselves an alliance with the now rising New Federal Europe [the king of the north, Babylon the Great;] (Psalm 83), and have rejoiced at the correction of Judah and Israel; God will bring the armies of the Asia against them.

21:2 A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam [the Slavic nations]: besiege, O Media [Ukraine]; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease.

21:3 Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I was bowed down at the hearing of it; I was dismayed at the seeing of it. 21:4 My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: the night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear unto me.

When the New Europe attacks Asia the various Asian powers will counterattack and sweep through the Middle East to secure the resources for themselves.

The Syrians, Turks, Jordanians and Arabs who ally with the New Federal Europe should prepare to be invaded after Europe attacks Asia: the nations of Asia will respond in fury against the New Europe and all her allies.

21:5 Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield. 21:6 For thus hath the LORD said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth.

The Watchman of God sees the Lion of War and the fall of Babylon the Great by the nations of Asia, who are responding to the attack of the New Europe.

The Asian nations will attack the European Babylon and will then turn south, sweeping through the Middle East  towards Jerusalem to have a final battle with the false prophet and political leader who have moved to the city of Jerusalem as their final redoubt.

21:7 And he saw a chariot with a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, and a chariot of camels; and he hearkened diligently with much heed: 21:8 And he cried, A lion: My lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights: 21:9 And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen.

The watchman of God gives the warning.

And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground. 21:10 O my threshing, and the corn [grain] of my floor: that which I have heard of the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you.

A prophecy of Arabia.

Dumah was the sixth son of Ishmael and is mentioned in Genesis (25:14 and 1 Chron 1:30).

Tayma (Arabic: تيماء‎; also transliterated Tema) is a large oasis with a long history of settlement, located in northwestern Saudi Arabia at the point where the trade route between Yathrib (Medina) and Dumah (al-Jawf) begins to cross the Nefud desert

Dumah asks the Watchman:

21:11 The burden of Dumah. He calleth to me out of Seir [Turkey]  Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night? 21:12 The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will enquire, enquire ye: return, come.

21:13 The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye travelling companies of Dedanim.

21:14 The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they prevented [saved those who had fled] with their bread him that fled.

21:15 For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war.

Kedar was the second son of Ishmael and the father of the tribes of the Kedarites (Genesis 25:13).

When the Asian armies enter Turkey, Syria and Jordan, closing the noose on the last redoubt of the beast and false prophet at Jerusalem; the Arabians shall be brought low within a year for they were allied with the Babylon of the New Europe.  See Psalm 83 Ishmaelite’s and  Hagarenes.

This whole final phase of the tribulation when the war between the European beast and Asia takes place seems to last a bit longer than a year; for Christ said that he would begin to revive his people in the third day [year]; and the great European Asian war will last somewhat over a year (Rev 9:15).

Hosea 6:1   Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. 6:2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

Isaiah 21:16 For thus hath the LORD said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail: 21:17 And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the LORD God of Israel hath spoken it.

Isaiah 22

This prophecy against Judah and Israel was fulfilled beginning in 2 Kings 18:13 and also covered in Isaiah 36.

This was a minor fore-type of the great tribulation of the latter days; when the city of Jerusalem will be taken and trodden under foot for 42 months (Rev 11:2) by Babylon the Great, which will now include the Assyrian nations in a confederation of ten nations.

Historically the Assyrians took Samaria and deported the inhabitants of that city, also taking the cities of Judah [but not deporting the Jews] except for Jerusalem in 721 B.C.  (2 Kings 17) only to return to be destroyed outside Jerusalem by God in 701 B.C. (2 Kings 18:9, 2 Chron 32:9).

Isaiah 22:1 The burden of the valley of vision. What aileth thee now, that thou art wholly gone up to the housetops? 22:2 Thou that art full of stirs, a tumultuous city, joyous city: thy slain men are not slain with the sword, nor dead in battle. 22:3 All thy rulers are fled together, they are bound by the archers: all that are found in thee are bound together, which have fled from far.

The prophecy will again be fulfilled even more completely in this latter day.

22:4 Therefore said I, Look away from me; I will weep bitterly, labour not to comfort me, because of the spoiling of the daughter [latter day descendants of] of my people.

This speaks of the tribulation and the day of the Lord

22:5 For it is a day of trouble, and of treading down, and of perplexity by the Lord GOD of hosts in the valley of vision, breaking down the walls, and of crying to the mountains [governments].

The Slavs and Asian nations shall come up against the Assyrians and their allies in the rising Babylon the Great [the New Europe] confederation who will occupy Jerusalem in the last days.

22:6 And Elam [the Slavic countries allied with the Asian nations] bare the quiver with chariots of men and horsemen, and Kir [the ancient stronghold of Moab representing the strength of modern Jordan] uncovered the shield.

The Assyrians filled the land as they came up against Jerusalem in the day’s of Hezekiah.  In our time they and the New Europe will occupy Jerusalem for 42 months; and the Slavic and Asian nations shall come up against them and will flood through Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and the Arab nations.

22:7 And it shall come to pass, that thy choicest valleys shall be full of chariots [war machines], and the horsemen shall set themselves in array at the gate.

In Hezekiah’s time Assyria came up to correct Jerusalem but did not enter the city because of king Hezekiah’s prayers to God; In this end time they will enter and occupy the city of Jerusalem for 42 months.

Revelation 11:2 . . . .  and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

Isaiah 22:8 And he discovered the covering of Judah, and thou didst look in that day to the armour of the house of the forest [Solomon’s palace of cedar]22:9 Ye have seen also the breaches of the city of David, that they are many: and ye gathered together the waters of the lower pool. 22:10 And ye have numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses have ye broken down to fortify the wall.  22:11 Ye made also a ditch between the two walls for the water of the old pool [the famous Hezekiah’s tunnel]: but ye have not looked unto the maker thereof, neither had respect unto him that fashioned it long ago.

In ancient times Hezekiah and the people repented and trusted in their God to deliver them and their sorrows were turned to joy by the power of the Might One of Abraham.

The final warning to the ten tribes of Israel before the Assyrians took them away in c 721 B.C. (2 Kings 17).

22:12 And in that day did the Lord GOD of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth:

God called ancient Israel to deep and sincere repentance and most of them rejected the warnings.

In our time God is also calling the people to repentance before the tribulation and the Day of the Lord, but we will not repent like Hezekiah did.

22:13 And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: [refusing to repent and mockingly declared] let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die. 22:14 And it was revealed in mine ears by the LORD of hosts, Surely this iniquity [of refusing to repent and turn to God for deliverance] shall not be purged from you till ye die, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

Isaiah speaks of the fall and removal of the ten tribes of Israel from the city of Samaria and its region by the Assyrians in c 721 B.C. (2 Kings 17)

22:15 Thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, Go, get thee unto this treasurer, even unto Shebna, which is over the house, and say, 22:16 What hast thou here? and whom hast thou here, that thou hast hewed thee out a sepulchre here, as he that heweth him out a sepulchre on high, and that graveth an habitation for himself in a rock?

God then said: Do you think that you will live, die and be buried here? Surely you will be carried away to a far land.

22:17 Behold, the LORD will carry thee away with a mighty captivity, and will surely cover thee. 22:18 He [the corrector sent from Christ] will surely violently turn and toss thee like a ball into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord’s house.

22:19 And I will drive thee from thy station, and from thy state shall he pull thee down.

A prophecy to Judah about the Nail of the Davidic Dynasty

The prophecy of Eliakim is God’s promise to Hezekiah that his kingdom of Judah [the Dynasty of David] will remain sure through his successor Eliakim.    Eliakim is the original name of Jehoiakim, king of Judah ( 2 Kings 23:34 ).

22:20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah: 22:21 And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand: and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.

22:22 And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.

The nail in a sure place is a promise to Hezekiah that the kingdom of Judah [the dynasty of David] would be sure through his reign and past the reign of Eliakim.

22:23 And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father’s house. 22:24 And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father’s house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons.

Hezekiah was succeeded by kings Manasseh, Amon, Josiah, Jehoahaz, Jehoichim [Eliakim], Jehoichin and Zedekiah.

King Jehoahaz reigned for three months before his throne was overturned by Necho, king of Egypt, who dethroned him; and replaced him with his brother, Eliakim

Then Eliakim using the regal name Jehoiakim reigned for 11 years before being killed by Nebuchadnezzar in the first big siege of Jerusalem c 597 B.C.  His kingdom was overturned to Jehoiachin (Jeconiah).

God’s promise that the kingdom of Judah, Hezekiah and the Davidic Dynasty would endure until after king Eliakim was fulfilled, and then God ended the dynasty of David with Zedekiah.  See The Dynasty of David article.

22:25 In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall the nail that is fastened in the sure place [the dynasty of David] be removed, and be cut down, and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off: for the LORD hath spoken it.

The dynasty of David will be restored when Messiah comes with the resurrected David; and under the resurrected David Judah and Israel will again be united and David will rule a united Israel forever more with one of the original twelve apostles over each of the twelve tribes under the resurrected king David.

God the Father rules the universe, Jesus Christ is King of kings over all the earth, the resurrected David will be king over a united Israel and one of the original twelve apostles will rule each of the twelve tribes of Israel.
