Preparing the Way of the Lord

Hebrews 9

The physical tabernacle was built according to the pattern that God showed Moses, which was a movable type of the heavenly Temple. The structural design as well as the furnishings were each typical of the heavenly Temple of God the Father and were highly symbolic.

Hebrews 9:1 Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. 9:2 For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick [with the oil burning in the lamp representing the oil of the Holy Spirit shining brightly in godly persons, producing the light of a godly example], and the table and the [unleavened] showbread [representing the presence of Christ among the people]; which is called the sanctuary.

Behind the veil which represents sin dividing the people from the presence of God the Father was the Most Holy Place picturing the throne room of God the Father.

9:3 And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; 9:4 Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant [the throne of God the Father] overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; 9:5 And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.

After the tabernacle and later the temple was dedicated, the physical Mosaic priests went in to the first part of the structure but could not go into the Most Holy Place of God the Father; being cut off by the drapery symbolizing the sin which separates us from God the Father.

9:6 Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God.

The high priest alone went into the Most Holy Place with sacrifices for himself and the people each year, ONLY on the Fast of Atonement day.

9:7 But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:

The exclusion of the Mosaic priesthood and people from passing into the presence of God the Father, revealed that their sins were not atoned for by the blood of sheep, cattle and goats; which were mere instructional examples of the need for a better sacrifice that could truly atone for sin. This exclusion from God the Father revealed that the Mosaic Covenant could not atone for sin and reconcile people to God the Father; and that a New Covenant with better promises and a greater sacrifice was needed.

9:8 The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:

The tabernacle and later temple with their various sacrifices and services were figures of the Mosaic Covenant and the Aaronic priesthood with its service which were only temporary; lasting only until the Melchisedec [Jesus Christ] was made flesh and lived a perfect life, giving his own life as our atoning sacrifice and was then resurrected back to his former glory as a spiritual High Priest forever.

9:9 Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect [could not atone for sin], as pertaining to the conscience; 9:10 Which stood only in meats [offerings] and drinks [offerings], and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

The people, did not have access to the inner sanctuary, they did not have access to God the Father, and they did not have access to the Most Holy Place the throne room of the Eternal Father, King of the Universe.

Then Melchisedec, the Implementing Creator was made flesh as Jesus Christ and in the flesh successfully completed his mission, dying for the sincerely repented sins of humanity and was then resurrected to spirit and raised up to eternal life, becoming an eternal High Priest: Restoring the High Priesthood of the Creator [Melchisedec] as the Mediator between his creation and God the Father.

When sin entered the world, God the Father left this world in the hands of the Implementing Creator Jesus Christ to fulfill the plan and reconcile humanity with God the Father! Which work of reconciliation is the function of the spiritual High Priest, Melchisedec [Jesus Christ].

9:11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

The sacrifice of Jesus Christ the Lamb of God was found acceptable to God the Father and could now be applied to all sincerely repentant and faithful called out, and eventually all of humanity will be called out to God, through Christ the living resurrected sacrifice and High Priest of our Salvation.

9:13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Because Jesus Christ lived a sinless life and was the Implementing Creator of all things and gave himself to die for humanity; being the perfect complete sacrifice his perfect life and His obedience to the will of God the Father to the death, atoned for all sin which is sincerely repented from and he was resurrected to his former glory.

Then upon his resurrection and change to spirit, Christ ascended to God the Father as our Wave Offering; to be presented “for us” as a complete and perfect propitiation for all sincerely repented sin. Then after offering the perfect gift of his own life for the repented sins of the world, he became the High Priest and Mediator of the New Covenant reconciling repentant humanity with God the Father!

9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

The promise of a will [testament] comes into effect only after the death of the bequeather, and Jesus Christ first had to die for repented sin, before the New Covenant [testament] could become official.

Yes, many were called over the past six thousand years from Abel, but they were called in faith that Jesus Christ would successfully complete his mission of a perfect sinless life and die for his creation. It was only after Jesus Christ completed his mission and ascended to God the Father, that the faith of their calling was confirmed and made sure.

9:16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 9:17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.

The Mosaic Covenant was dedicated with a sacrifice, and the New Covenant was dedicated with a much better sacrifice.

9:18 Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood. 9:19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, 9:20 Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you. 9:21 Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.

The sprinkling of blood to ratify the Mosaic Covenant was a representation that the blood of the sacrifice of Christ purifies the sincerely repentant of the New Covenant; who then become the Temple of God, when God through the Holy Spirit takes up residence to dwell in his faithful.

9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission [no atonement for sin].

The physical Mosaic tabernacle / temple was sanctified by the sprinkling of the sacrificial blood of certain specified clean animals as an allegory that the spiritual New Covenant is sanctified by the blood of the very Implementing Creator God made flesh.

9:23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly [spiritual New Covenant] things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

The Being who created all things and then gave up his God-hood to be made flesh as Jesus Christ, overcame all temptations and sin to live a perfect life and obey the will of God the Father giving up his life for his creation; was raised up from the dead back to his former glory as an eternal spirit and ascended to God the Father to be accepted as our perfect holy sacrifice and High Priest, to Mediate with God the Father for us!

9:24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: 9:25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the [physical Mosaic] high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Jesus Christ died ONCE, since his sacrifice was perfect and does atone for ALL the repented sins ever committed; yet if we should slip and UNINTENTIONALLY sin after our sincere repentance from our PAST sins, that unintentional sin needs to be sincerely repented of and the sacrifice needs to be reapplied!

When we are baptized we do not enter a “state of grace” where sin is overlooked; we must sincerely repent and STOP sinning.

The sacrifice of Christ will never be applied to the willful intentional sinner; it is only applied to the sincerely repentant who dedicate themselves to “go and sin no more!”

Romans 2:13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified [by the application of Christ’s sacrifice].

Jesus Christ the High Priest of the New Covenant will come again to this earth and will resurrect and induct into His priesthood all those who seek God through him and are zealous to learn and to live by every Word of God, all those who through the power of God have internalized the very nature of God to become holy as God is holy, and become without sin as God is without sin.

Revelation 1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

When Christ returns he will resurrect and change to eternal spirit his Chosen and they shall be made kings and priests of the High Priesthood of Melchisedec [Jesus Christ]; being inducted into that priesthood by God the Father in heaven. After which they will return to reconcile the whole earth with God the Father!

Revelation 19:1 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:

Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: 9:28 So Christ was once [died only once] offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Goats, sheep and bullocks could not atone for spiritual sin. The physical tabernacle could be purified by the sacrifice and washings of physical things, but spiritual or heavenly things must be purified with the better spiritual sacrifice of the true spiritual Lamb of God.

These physical sacrifices were only representative of a future sacrifice, a better sacrifice; which was the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the true Lamb of God. And with His sacrifice, we can be purged from sin and reconciled with God the Father.

The wages of sin is death and those wages must be paid.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Therefore, it was necessary that Christ died for our sins and paid that penalty for us.

Otherwise, we would die and remain dead forever; having to pay for our own sins, because the blood of bulls and lambs cannot pay for our sin.

Simply put, a man is of much more value than these things and a lamb cannot atone for the sin of a man. Only the atoning sacrifice of the very Creator God could pay the indictment [list] of the sins of His creation.

The earthly tabernacle and the temple were copies or representations of a heavenly temple, and the administrations of the priesthood of Aaron were simply shadows or instructional allegories of spiritual things.

The priests of Aaron offered sacrifices as an acting out or allegory of the perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ, Christ offered a better sacrifice, a more perfect sacrifice, a sacrifice which could fully atone for sin and save the spirit, which the physical sacrifices could not do.

Therefore, the physical Mosaic Covenant was an instructional allegory of the spiritual New Covenant. And the reality of the spiritual New Covenant with its perfect sacrifice and promises of eternal life is much better than the physical Mosaic allegory.

The spiritual is more holy, more complete and more effective. It is better in every way, because it resulted in forgiveness from sin on a spiritual heavenly level and complete reconciliation with God the Father, and a real empowering of men to overcome sin; because God the Father will write His Word and Law in the hearts and minds of people through the power of His Holy Spirit.

The New Covenant also containing the promise of eternal life for all who sincerely repent and overcome sin with the power of God’s Spirit, internalizing the very nature of God!
