Hebrews 8:1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; 8:2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
The called out to the New Covenant have an eternal High Priest who sits at the right hand of God the Father in heaven; Our High Priest [and priesthood] is not of Aaron, He is the Creator/Melchisedec; the risen Christ!
8:3 For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.
If Jesus Christ were still a man in the flesh he would not be a priest because he was not a son of Aaron, but because he lived a perfect sinless life and gave his life as an atoning sacrifice for his creation.
Jesus Christ was raised up from death in the flesh and RESTORED to the glory that he had before giving up his godhood to be made flesh, RESTORING the eternal High Priest of Melchizedek; while the Mosaic Covenant and its Aaronic priesthood ended because of the death of the Mosaic Covenant Husband of Israel.
Hebrews 8:4 For if he were on earth [still in the flesh], he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law [the Mosaic Covenant]:
The law called the Law of Moses which is really the Law of God, said that sacrifices should be offered and that the physical offerings should be administered by the physical priests who are the descendants of Aaron.
Once that Mosaic Covenant and Aaronic priesthood was ended by the death of the Husband of Israel, Jesus Christ, who was not a descendant of Aaron; this Jesus Christ was resurrected to spirit and returned to his former glory as Melchizedek the eternal spirit High Priest.
8:5 Who [The Aaronic priesthood and the physical tabernacle/temple service were an allegory of the heavenly High Priesthood of the Creator, Melchisedec [Jesus Christ] ; who became flesh and gave himself for his creation.] serve unto the [as an] example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.
8:6 But now hath he [the physical Jesus Christ] obtained a more excellent ministry [a better priesthood than Aaron], by how much also he is the mediator [the resurrected Jesus Christ has become the High Priest (Mediator) of the New Covenant] of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
The Mosaic Covenant was only physical and had only physical promises, but the New Covenant is spiritual and offers the promise of true effectual atonement to all sincerely repentant persons, reconciliation with God the Father and the gift of God’s Holy Spirit and eternal life.
If the Mosaic Covenant had been perfect and could bring reconciliation between God the Father and the people, and give the gift of God’s Spirit and eternal life; it would not need to have been superseded by a New Covenant which accomplishes those things.
8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
Jeremiah 31:31: Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord:
31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Hebrews 8:8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: 8:9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
How is it that every person shall know the Eternal?
The answer is in Joel 2:28, And it shall come to pass afterward [after Christ’s coming], that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh;
Some have been called out and given God’s Spirit since Abel; and on Pentecost 31 A.D. there was an official small foretaste and precursor of a soon coming future Pentecost when God’s Spirit will be poured out on ALL flesh!
And after the day of the Lord has come, Joel 2:32 It shall come to pass that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Eternal shall be delivered.
Hebrews 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
God’s Word and Law will be written on the hearts and in the minds of people through the power of the Holy Spirit which is given to those who obey God.
Acts 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
The New Covenant is that the law of God will be written on the hearts and minds of sincerely repentant people who commit themselves to “sin no more” (John 8:11). They will be reconciled to God the Father through sincere repentance, a commitment to “sin no more” and the application of the sacrifice of Christ; and then they will be empowered to obey and live by every Word of God through the gift of the Holy Spirit of God.
Anyone who teaches that after baptism we are filled with some kind of sentimental emotional feel good that they mistakenly call “love” and come into a state of grace where our future sins are overlooked; is ignorant and a false teacher.
The difference between the Mosaic Covenant and the New Covenant is that under the New Covenant, there is a real, genuine sacrifice for sincere repentance from sin, a real genuine reconciliation and relationship with God the Father, and a real empowerment to overcome and “sin no more” through the power of the Holy Spirit of God: resulting in a real spiritual conversion to become of the same mind and Spirit as God the Father and Jesus Christ: Which brings the gift of the resurrection to eternal life.
Hebrews 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
The Old Covenant, the Mosaic Covenant, including the priesthood of Aaron; has vanished away; it ended with the death of one of the parties to that marriage covenant.
As soon as sin entered in, the Implementing Creator Jesus Christ [Melchisedec] stood between the called out and God the Father as their Mediator [High Priest]; looking forward to his later physical life, sacrifice and resurrection.
The Creator, Melchisedec who became flesh as Jesus Christ, became and was the Husband of Israel from Sinai to the death of Christ in the flesh, and during that period Israel was given the Mosaic Covenant and the physical Aaronic priesthood to teach us about the spiritual High Priesthood of Melchisedec [Jesus Christ].
The priesthood of Aaron was a temporary physical instructional allegory to teach us about the spiritual High Priesthood of Jesus Christ; and even the priesthood of Aaron served [when faithful] the Husband of Israel [the Creator who became flesh as Jesus Christ].
When it became time for the Creator to be made flesh and be sacrificed for sins, the Mosaic Marriage ended with the death of the Husband of Israel, and the temporary physical instructional allegory of the Aaronic priesthood also ended; opening the way for the restoration of the resurrected to spirit High Priesthood of Melchisedec the Creator [Jesus Christ].
The Mosaic Covenant was mediated by Moses and a priesthood of Aaron; and that covenant was wholly physical with physical promises of physical blessings only, as an allegory of the spiritual priesthood of Jesus Christ in the spiritual New Covenant with the spiritual promise of a resurrection to eternal life as a spirit being.
The Mosaic Covenant ended with the death of one of the covenanters which was the Husband, Jesus Christ [Melchisedec in the flesh]. The end of the Mosaic Covenant being prophesied long before by Jeremiah (Jer 31), because that particular covenant could not provide the spiritual promise of eternal life.
There were physical blessings and promises under that Mosaic Covenant, but there was nothing spiritual involved. There was no real atonement for sin to reconcile people with God the Father. The blood of goats and lambs and bullocks could only atone for the physical acts of breaking the physical Mosaic Covenant; such physical sacrifices could NOT reconcile people to God the Father on a spiritual level.
Therefore, it was necessary and it was planned from the very beginning that Melchisedec would give up his godhood and be made flesh as Jesus Christ; and the very Creator would be sacrificed for the sins of mankind, reconciling the sincerely repentant to God the Father establishing a New Covenant which would supersede the Mosaic Covenant.
This New Covenant would have a different High Priest and a different priesthood than Aaron, restoring the priesthood of Melchisedec; as well as the fact that God’s laws would be written in the hearts and minds of men through the gift of the Holy Spirit; and a new and better sacrifice that would reconcile men to God on a spiritual level, enabling them to enter a New SPIRITUAL Covenant with God. See the Salvation series.
The sacrifice of the very Creator would completely, totally; atone for the sincerely repented sins of humanity and reconcile the sincerely repentant to God the Father.
The Creator God gave up his God-hood to be made flesh, and once the Creator / Melchisedec became “God made flesh” as Jesus Christ [Hebrew: Yeshua Mashiach] completed his mission to live a perfect life and be sacrificed for those who had or would sincerely repent: He was resurrected by God the Father and returned to his previous glory!
Then he ascended to God the Father as our Wave Offering to become our High Priest, spiritual Mediator and Intercessor for us with God the Father for all eternity!
Today the physical Mosaic Covenant and its Aaronic priesthood is passed away; and the High Priesthood of Melchisedec [Jesus Christ] is re-established!
ALL of the called out not just elders, have been called into the Priesthood of Melchisedec [Jesus Christ] to become priests after the order of Melchisedec [Jesus Christ] forever; IF we overcome and are chosen!
Brethren the eternal Priesthood of Melchisedec [Jesus Christ] is the heritage, the birthright and the calling, of ALL the spiritual Ekklesia if we are faithful to our High Priest Melchisedec [Jesus Christ] and to God the Father!
With such a birthright of calling from God Almighty, why would anyone stray to follow idols of men [false teachers] contrary to any part of the whole Word of God?
