From David Malm

Hello Dear readers with a very heavy heart, I tell  you I found my father and best friend James Malm passed away this morning, James for those who don’t know had been struggling with diabetes, High blood pressure, And failing  eyesight for years. He was trying very hard to get better eating less and trying to control his BP      he wanted to see me happy one day in the refuge I just cannot believe this nightmare im in, he cared for me so much and tirelessly tried to warn the church of the state of pure idolatry that its in today. My father James had a vision once in a hotel room his troubles almost overwhelming and an angel said to him [ This is the time my son this is the time be strong and persevere ] Well this is still the time! his struggle may be over but he fought like a soldier for me and for all of you and I pray for him this beloved teacher and mentor my good friend and teacher in the faith who did persevere and was strong!

  1. This is a great blow to all us David, but God knows best and will certainly see us through this. May his guidance and comfort be multiplied unto you and rest of the family. My regards and condolences. S

  2. I am devastated for you and your family and send my deepest condolences. I have followed his site daily for at least 11 years and cannot imagine a day without his advice and leadership. Please know he will be deeply missed. Andrea

  3. My condolences.
I am very saddened at this news of your fathers passing and will keep you in my prayers.
James’ knowledge was very vital in my growth and understanding of the True Gospel and I will be forever thankful.

Please let the readers here know if there is anything we can do for you during this difficult time.

  4. David, my heart cries for the sadness I feel. I have been learning from your father’s wisdom and teachings from the beginning and am sure that he has caused many to find the true path to unity with God. He will be truly missed. As James has taught, I believe that we are fast approaching the tribulation and knowing that God raises the dead in Christ first , (1st Thess. 4:16) God is now gathering his jewels (Malachi 3:16-18) for the work ahead.
If there is any way I (we) can help, please let us know.

  5. A very sad day indeed. I have not missed a single day reading what James wrote daily for 13 years. I have saved over 300 e-mail exchanges James and I have had. Very good teacher who brought the new truths for these last days to those of us that have eyes to see and ears to hear. It truly is close as where James has left of the two witnesses will take over and continue the work James started. Watch closely everyone the time is close. You will not have to wait long David to be reunited with your best friend.

  6. David please accept my deep condolences for your loss Some years ago your Dad posted about keeping the sabbath holy I hadn’t realised until then that I was breaking the sabbath. I’ve always been grateful to him for that. I’ll miss his posts in shining light blog. Sincerely Tess

  7. Hi David, I too am very saddened to hear about your dad. I haven’t looked at the site in a while & had an overwhelming desire to see what your dad might be saying about what is going on in the world today. I will miss his insightful commentary on world news and news about the churches of God. As we were coming out of Cogwa, this site was a place to be encouraged and realize we really weren’t crazy. I will pray for peace and comfort for you and all who will be impacted by James’ death. Yah, be with you!

  8. Yes,God’s ways are not our ways and his thoughts are not our thoughts. James’ unexpected death is another proof of this statement. Sad as his death is to us his readers, let us TRUST God and believe that he has accomplished the assignment given him by his Lord.
The ball is now in our individual courts. The greatest tribute to him is to zealously follow what God inspired him to teach us; and keep ourselves ready for the Lord’s coming.
David the Ekklesia here mourns with your family and send their condolences. Please keep us informed of all plans and needs. We look forward seeing him sooner with Christ our Lord. Our ptayers are with you so be strong and courageous in the Lord.

  9. I am absolutely shocked and saddened to read this news. Your father’s work helped show us a different and often a deeper perspective to so many topics- he will be missed. My prayers go out for you David and I’m so sorry for your tremendous loss.

  10. In deepest condolences, i`m shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden death of James. He will be missed.

  11. So sorry to hear this news. You will be in our prayers.

  12. Hi David,

I think that the most beneficial thing you could do to help the church (and those who are looking for truth) is to shut down the THESHININGLIGHT websites. Your father (James) was very delusional and was NOT in the process of “restoring all truth of the whole Word of God” but in fact taught a lot of errors and added a lot of his own interpretations to what Scriptures actually teach. He did a lot of damage to God’s people (and other seekers) teaching them false doctrines and false ideas that are no where to be found in Scripture. The Bible says in several places we are NOT to ADD or SUBTRACT from Elohim’s Word and yet James thought nothing of doing just that… and then RIDICULED anyone who questioned him.

We must stop James and his false teaching from further hurting any more people! The only way to protect any more people from reading his material and thinking it must be true and being tricked into thinking that he was some kind of great end time teacher, is to take down the websites as soon as possible.

I know you loved your father very much but we must love Yahweh more and put Him first. You are the only one that has the means to take the websites down and stop any more people from believing in false doctrines and delusional lies. In this way you can help the people of God more than you will ever know.

  13. My sympathies to you and the Malm family.

He challenged me on several Biblical matters – among other things, persuading me to stop eating out on Sabbath and Holy Days.

And while I didn’t always agree with him, at least he went to Scripture to find answers. Other COG critics simply point fingers and ridicule. May they see the need to repent.

  14. Well, I’m shocked! One always expected that James would be there to give an alternative view on things. Although he stirred people to be more zealous about God and what He expects from us, he also had to deal with scoffers who refuse to question their own traditions. I’m hoping that his example will inspire a lot more people to step up and spread the Good News, unfiltered. Yes, there were some things that we differed on but one major thing that was a ‘game changer’ was his interpretation of the meaning of God’s holy days. For that alone his legacy will live on.
Just behind that was his insistence on us treating God’s Sabbath with respect and not casually hiring people to work for us by going to restaurants.
    Sincere condolences.

  15. I think I am one of the few Spanish-speaking readers who have read David James Malm’s articles since 2010. I was shocked at the time. His view of Daniel’s prophecies, and his interpretation of the seventy-week prophecy and of the enigmatic 1290 and 1335 days of Daniel chapter 12 caught my attention. At that time he said that there was a high probability that the Great Tribulation would begin in 2012 and that Jesus Christ would return in 2016, then the date 2017, 2018, 2020 ran … and finally established the beginning of the Great Tribulation in late 2020 and that Jesus Christ would return in 2024. I was intrigued, I came to consider that it was only his own speculations. Although I admit that he was honest with himself. Another matter that intrigued me was his strict observance of “The Law” on Saturdays, holidays and new moons … Things that Paul said were not necessary. I think that it is not necessary to close their sites and publications, Pablo said “Examine everything and retain what is good” Someday you will be able to prove how right you were … or not. My condolences to your family.

  16. Oh, come on Constance! Aren’t you the one with the flat earth stuff? Who’s delusional?

  17. David,I am so sorry about James. He was a man of God in spite of what is said by some that has posted here today. He has taught Judy and I so much and will be teaching is more through God. James and I didn’t agree on everything but most.He could not be right on everything he was a man. If we didn’t disagree about some things we would have worshiped him as some do the cog’s we would be wrong doing that. As long as this site is up he is an end time! Someone has been very disrespectful to a man that has taught her so much.

  18. My commiserations to you, David and the family. I enjoyed regularly browsing his site for latest updates on the churches of God and world news. Although I didn’t agree with everything he taught, particularly his frequent prophetic speculation, I am grateful for various insights he shared like his study paper on the falsehood of the British-Israel doctrine that the British royal family is descended from King David of Israel. I pray he is at rest in Christ. May God strengthen you and the whole family, David, in this difficult time and may you find comfort in the cherished memories of your beloved dad.

  19. Hi David, I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my dad in 2007 to cancer, and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t miss him. I pray you find the strength to carry on. God speed.

  20. It was with much sadness last evening at the beginning of the Sabbath, as I logged on to do some reading on this website, that I learned of the death of our brother, James. He now has a much-deserved opportunity to rest (from his seemingly tireless efforts while alive) awaiting the return of our Messiah.
In the past 10 years that I have known him (through his online presence), James has been a shining example of studiousness, industry, tenacity, and zeal. His conviction, and desire to share it with as many brothers and sisters as he could, teaching straightforwardly, sincerely, and unflinchingly to the best of his ability, as he was given understanding, was most admirable.
While I differed slightly on some minor interpretations, though he may have been a bit too strident on a few occasions, and in spite of his tendency to over-optimistically look for (and/or date) prophetic fulfillment, I have a deep debt of gratitude for our Father’s use of His servant James, in opening my mind to a better and deeper understanding of His calender, Sabbath, and Holy Days (and much else!).
I look forward to the day I can thank him properly in person. 50 years in the CofG and I’m STILL learning…I shall sorely miss one of my favorite teachers, James Malm.
May our merciful Father grant peace, comfort, and strength to his loved-ones, who may now be hurting.

  21. I am very shocked and disappointed in the comment of our beloved Constance. David please keep the site up as long as possible. You can count on my support in doing this!

  22. Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

  23. Hi David,
I want to send my condolences regarding the loss of your dad. I have read his blog for many years. He is the one who taught me not to pollute the sabbath and holy days by going out to eat at restaurants on these days. I always looked forward to reading his articles. Please carry on his work because of lot of God’s people don’t have a church to attend for various reasons. He will be missed by all who read his website.

  24. Oh my… I found James in 08 and have read almost the whole site…the daily news….He was one of my go to sites.
    Will miss him terribly.
Any criticism is misdirected he always put the word of God there and then would give his best description….
    Same with the news.
    Very refreshing.

  25. Hello David. While I appreciated very much your father teaching people to do no work on the sabbath, it must be said , and corrected, that he changed the words of God RE the Holy Days. He said that God wrote that we were to do no work on the holy days. However, that is not what is written in the bible. God has written you shall do servile work on all of the holy days except for the day of Atonement. The day of atonement is no work , not no servile work. If you are going to keep shining light going, please correct this. May God comfort you in this time of great grief.

  26. Dear Constance,
Your comments about James surprises and disappoints me. I know that for several years you have written in depth articles on scriptural topics for The Shining Light, also posted on Facebook. Certainly you remember the Glorious Living series of Newsletters, the first starting on Jan 17th, 2014

    “I Will Build My Church”

1 Corinthians 14:12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.

Dear Beloved of God, Let us work at edifying the church, building up the faithful into a house, a temple of God, as never before; and rebuild the walls that have fallen down as Christ would have us to do.

You’ve written many articles on various topics as well as numerous Psalms Commentaries.
    Topics such as:

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Seek God’s Righteousness; and Be Filled… with all the Good Things that God has to Offer!
Then, as written in Revelation 7, we have this awe-inspiring promise, that we will never hunger or thirst ever again:

Revelation 7:16-17 They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; . . . for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters.

    Lord, Teach Us to Pray

If you are one of God’s called out ones, a person who has answered His call to believe in Him, to accept His Word and apply it to your life, to look to the Messiah for forgiveness of all your past sin, calling you to come out of this world and to sin no more; then our Father is calling you to spend precious time with Him in prayer on a daily basis!

We are granted the gift of having this access to our Heavenly Father, to be able to share in communication with the Great Almighty God, for the rest of our lives, right up unto death, just as Jesus did; and then after we are resurrected, we can communicate with Him throughout all eternity as His children. What an marvelous privilege we have. Prayer is a most precious gift!

O My People, Watch and Pray ~ Part 1 (Date Mar 25, 2016)

As we witness the pain and suffering that seems to be increasing daily around the world as a result of hatred, oppression, violence and war on the part of the wicked, we yearn for a world of righteousness and
peace. Those who have a heart for God and the things of God “sigh and cry” over the corruption and inhumane atrocities that are taking place all over the world. And we can pray about these things which is something else Jesus told the disciples to do as they watched.

Next week we will conclude this message on watching and praying with Part 2 of this article.

    Everyone have a wonderful Sabbath,

I believe that everyone who read them was impressed with the extent to which you explained the scriptures.

And then for whatever reason you decided to convert to a different religion.

But, with your knowledge of scripture I am sure that you are familiar with:

2 Peter 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

2:21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

  27. Servile The KJV translates Strong’s H5656 in the following manner:
    labour, service

    labour, work

    labour (of servant or slave)

labour, service (of captives or subjects)

    service (of God)
