THE REAL ZERUBBABEL
The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house, his hands
shall also finish it Zec 4:9. Zerubbabel built the temple of God shortly before the coming of Messiah. God
left the physical temple on the Feast of Harvest after the resurrection of Messiah to dwell in the flesh of His people Acts
2, 2 Cor 6:16, and Eph 2:21 who are now His true temple. The body of believers, the church, is now the temple of God.
Could Zerubbabel, the builder of a physical temple, be a type of some builder of the spiritual temple?
And are
built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone Eph 2:20. I
ask you: Who sent all of the apostles and prophets? Were they sent by some man, or were they sent by God and His Christ?
The answer is clear, no man living in the twentieth century sent the ancient prophets and apostles! If Zerubbabel is a type
of any builder, he is a type of the MASTER BUILDER, JESUS CHRIST! While Christ does use men as His tools and He also
uses the seven eyes or spirits to assist Him Zec 4:10 and Rev 1:20, It is not by men's might or power but by the
spirit of God Zec 4:6 that the temple of God will be completed. REST ASSURED and REJOICE, for we have God's
own promise that He will pick up His tools and complete His spiritual temple Zec 4:9-10, Isaiah 66:5-24.
The spiritual temple is not limited to one man's lifetime but is composed of all the firstfruits of God, called through
all of man's history. Indeed, the building process has been going on for thousands of years.
Who art thou, O
great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone (building stone, cornerstone)
thereof with shoutings, crying, grace, grace unto it Zec 4:7. That great mountain is Babylon Jer 51:25, which
is to be destroyed by a great stone from God Dan 2:35. That stone will be made the chief corner stone of God's kingdom
for that stone is Christ Eph 2:20. Will some man destroy Babylon or will she be destroyed by Christ?
You
judge whether Zerubbabel was a type of some mere mortal or whether he was a type of the Master Builder, Jesus Christ.
