This page is intended to address the contention that the apostle John did not fulfill the command of
Christ to prophesy again Rev 10:11 and that some other person must fulfill this command in John's name.
John was called to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and was His disciple throughout the Ministry of Christ Acts 1:21-22.
After the ascension of Christ, John witnessed to the things of his Lord throughout his remaining life. When he
became old and tired, in the later years of his life, he was banished to the isle of Patmos. There he remained during
the last decade of the first century. Thinking that his life was over and his race had been run and desiring nothing
more than to be with his Lord he was ready to die.
It was at this point that the LORD JESUS CHRIST appeared
to him in a vision and said; "Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings"
Rev 10:11. At that time John was given a little book and told to eat it; And I took the little book out of the
angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
Rev 10:10.
Perhaps, some of us have at some time eaten something that tasted good only to experience a sour stomach
later. Only by experience can one understand just how vile a bitter stomach can make one feel. In the case of
the little book, the sweet taste represents the wonderful delight that we have, when discussing the coming of our Lord.
While the bitter stomach represents the TERRIBLE BITTERNESS of the things that men must suffer during the fulfillment
of the events surrounding our LORD'S RETURN. For the LITTLE BOOK itself, is the book of revealings that John
must write, thereby prophesying again before all the world.
By eating the book, John internalized it's
content and was then able to write it out. John, through this book, has appeared before millions during the last nineteen
hundred years, prophesying before them through the power of the pen. The fact that men have not understood does
not mean that the word was not proclaimed. Indeed, the word of God has never been understood by the average man.
YES friends, John prophesied again by writing the prophetic book of REVELATION. And that book is fascinating
and wonderful to talk about, but it will be very bitter in the fulfilling. John fulfilled the command of Christ to prophesy
again. This command does NOT need to be fulfilled by another. The scripture speaks of another Elijah,
but nowhere speaks of another Apostle John!
How BEAUTIFUL and SIMPLE is the TRUTH OF HOLY SCRIPTURE!
And, oh how often, does man read into it, things that are NOT THERE! No John is to come again, for John did indeed successfully
perform his mission!
