The word DOGMA means a religious belief or beliefs.
There are people and groups that take the position that the original Hebrew language is holy and that the names of God and
His Son should only be pronounced or written in the original Hebrew. They go further and state that to pronounce or
write these names in any other language, is breaking the commandment against blasphemy, since all other languages are corrupt.
In taking this position they deny that the New Testament was written in Koine Greek and insist that it was originally written
in Hebrew. What does the Bible say about this matter?
There are some who have challenged the longstanding belief that the New Testament was largely written
in Greek. Is there a way to demonstrate, directly from scripture, the language that the New testament was written in?
The apostle Paul instructs that if a person speaks in a tongue (language) which is unknown to others, he should not
speak unless there is an interpreter present. For no one will understand 1 Cor 14:27-28. This is only reasonable,
for how can a speaker edify and inform a group if they cannot understand him? This is a direct COMMAND by the apostle
Paul, preserved in Holy Scripture to either speak all things in the language of the audience or have an interpreter do so,
or to refrain from speaking! This COMMAND is entirely consistent with the fact that the Holy Spirit of God caused that
every man heard the Word of God (which would necessarily include God's name) IN HIS OWN LANGUAGE in Acts 2:1-12.
Is it reasonable to think, that the apostle Paul set an example in this thing, when he spoke more languages than anyone?
1 Cor 14:18 Is it reasonable to believe that Paul spoke and wrote to the Greek speaking people in Hebrew, when he declared
that he would rather speak five words and be understood than ten thousand words in an unknown language that cannot be
understood? 1 Cor 14:19
Many of the letters of the New Testament were written to Greek congregations and
were written by Paul. In light of his openly declared position and instructions to others, is there any doubt that he
wrote each letter in the language of those persons to whom those letters were sent? Koine Greek, the Greek of the common
man, was as much a common language of the day as English is today. There is no doubt that much of the New Testament
was, in fact written in Greek. The historical evidence is there and the internal scriptural evidence is there.
Some of these people make the claim that the Peshitta, a Syriac New Testament, is a compilation of original Hebrew writings
of the New Testament. The fact is that the Peshitta is in Syriac or Aramaic, not original Hebrew. The Peshitta
is also remarkably consistent with the King James Version.
Some Holy Names people will say that the letters
of Paul were written in Hebrew and addressed to Jewish elders, but were immediately translated into Greek for the local
congregations. This argument assumes that there were Jewish elders in every Gentile congregation. Such an assumption
is very hard to believe, when one considers that Paul was the apostle to the Gentiles Rom 11:13 and that his preaching
had largely been rejected by the Jews. It is very unlikely that there were Jewish elders in every Gentile congregation.
For Paul to write in a language that had to be translated before it could be understood by the congregations would also be
very cumbersome and unlikely since Paul already spoke those languages. We also have the point that no copies of the New
Testament writings in Hebrew exist, while very old New Testament writings in Koine Greek do exist. To say that these
Books were originally written in Hebrew is a pure assumption, without either scriptural or historical support.
Finally, the question arises; If those Koine Greek translations were made by the original disciples of Paul and sanctioned
by Paul, for Paul's congregations, made immediately upon receiving the original letters; Why is there a problem
with the Koine Greek texts? After all, if the disciples of Paul, during his lifetime had no problem with using
the Koine Greek language when writing or speaking the names of God, why should we? And why did Paul not rebuke or instruct
them in this point?
Even if it could be proved that all scripture was written in Hebrew (which cannot be done),
there is no way to know how to properly pronounce these words, for the vowel points of Hebrew are missing. If we must
pronounce these words correctly to gain access to God and there is no way of knowing how to do so, where does that leave us?
It leaves us without FAITH that God has heard us! This dogma is a direct attack on FAITH and without faith we cannot
please God! Heb 11:6 We are told that we must Repent and be baptised Acts 2:38 and Acts 22:16, for the remission
of sins and the Holy Spirit shall be given to us. This is the way to life, true religion is in how we LIVE, what we
DO, it is in our ACTIONS and BEHAVIOUR, it is not about how to pronounce a word! Jas 1:27
In truth,
God is the author of ALL LANGUAGES Gen 11:6-9. And ALL LANGUAGES have been corrupted, including Hebrew. There
is nothing sacred or holy about any language. God is Holy, His name is Holy because it refers to Him. A father
does not reject his child, just because the child has trouble pronouncing it's father's name! We are the children
of God. ALL HUMANITY are the created children of God; and we may ALL call upon Him in the language that He has given
each of us. For it is written that the Holy Spirit of God inspired God's people to preach the Word of God in every
language! Acts 2:1-12
Wescott and Hort produced a counterfeit Greek New Testament and did not even bother
to write it in Koine Greek but wrote it in upper class Greek. Many of the newer translations, so called, have been made
from this fraudulent work, which makes many changes from the original Koine Greek, watering down the word of God. Wescott
and Hort were disciples of Madam Blavatsky a practicing witch and founder of the New Age movement. They used texts from
the Alexandrian School heavily influenced by Platonic philosophy and were deeply into homosexuality and communicating with
the dead (demonism). This is why it is wise to stay close to the King James Version, which is the most accurate.
I urge all, to do some internet research on Wescott and Hort and their translations.
