The Seven Day, Feast of ULB:  and The Serious Error of The Winter Weekend

Over the years I have posted several times on keeping the Feast of Unleavened Bread for the full seven days and I have proved conclusively that until HWA apostatized after the death of his wife Loma, the Radio COG, DID keep the Feast of ULB for the full seven days.  The Good News (pp.5-6)  Jun 67  and   Days of Zeal Gone By and   The Church of 1962 GN May 62.

I am now hearing that some brethren who ask about this issue are being told that since there is no command to leave our homes for seven days we need only observe the first and last days with a convocation.

This post will address that falsehood.

The Feast of Tabernacles

We are told that we need to observe the Feast of Tabernacles with daily services, because God commanded it to be observed for a full seven days.

In addition to the three times  repeated command to observe the Feast of Tabernacles, is the additional command to stay in temporary dwellings for the full seven days.

Temporary dwellings is for the express purpose of teaching us that when we come out of spiritual Egypt we no longer have any part in this world and are to be a spiritual people, strangers and foreigners in this repent evil world of Satin.

Now notice that this command has nothing to do with gathering at a collective for daily services!  This command has everything to do with teaching a spiritual; lesson during the Feast of Tabernacles.

Lev 43:42  Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths:

43 That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

We are to dwell in temporary dwellings during the Feast of Tabernacles; which could be any dwelling that is a temporary abode for us; including a motel room, or even a tent in our back yard, or on the roof, or even in our living room, or basement if it is pouring freezing rain in a northern clime.

This command is about building a booth, and contains NOTHING about daily services in a special place.

The commandments about where to gather for the Three Pilgrim Feasts.

In fact, God does command his people to gather together at the place that HE shall choose; However that command INCLUDES; Tabernacles, Unleavened Bread and Pentecost!

The command to meet at the place that God chooses:  Is NOT limited to Tabernacles!

Ex 23:14   Three times thou shalt keep a feast unto me in the year.
15 Thou shalt keep the feast of unleavened bread: (thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in the time appointed of the month Abib; for in it thou camest out from Egypt: and none shall appear before me empty:)

16 And the feast of harvest [Pentecost], the firstfruits of thy labours, which thou hast sown in the field: and the , which is in the end of the year, when thou hast gathered in thy labours out of the field.

17 Three times in the year all thy males shall appear before the Lord God.

Deu 16:16  Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles:

The Passover was to be killed at the Temple in Jerusalem and the people would remain there for another full seven days.  This is the same command as that of Tabernacles!

Deu 16:5   Thou mayest not sacrifice the passover within any of thy gates, which the Lord thy God giveth thee:  6 But at the place which the Lord thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover at even, at the going down of the sun, at the season that thou camest forth out of Egypt.  And thou shalt roast and eat it in the place which the Lord thy God shall choose: and thou shalt turn in the morning, and go unto thy tents.

This was the commandment about the Tabernacle of God in the wilderness, which was the place of God’s name in the wilderness.

7 And thou shalt roast and eat it in the place which the Lord thy God shall choose: and thou shalt turn in the morning, and go unto thy tents.

8 Six days thou shalt eat unleavened bread: and on the seventh day shall be a solemn assembly to the Lord thy God: thou shalt do no work therein.

Later God placed his name in the Temple at Jerusalem.

1 Kings 9:3   And the Lord said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

There you see it in clear pain scripture.  God’s people are COMMANDED to meet before him at the temple for the THREE Feasts: of Unleavened Bread, Pentecost and Tabernacles!  And the command was repeated three times for a plain clear and unambiguous witness!

YES Brethren, we ARE COMMAMDED to meet before our God during the Festival of ULB, in the place that he chooses; just like at Tabernacles!

Any person who says otherwise is either ignorant or deceiving the brethren.

Where is God’s name today?

We know that the physical Temple has been destroyed and will not be rebuilt until Christ comes to rebuild it, so when is his name today?

1 Cor 3:16   Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?17 If any man defile the temple of God [with the uncleanness of wilful sin or tolerance for sin] , him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

Now if we are God’s temple than we must gather together as his temple, and the gathering place is wherever the fathful Ekklesia gather.

Mat 18:20   For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Therefore, while it is not necessary to build a temple at Jerusalem, to assemble before God at this time; anywhere the faithful Ekklesia assemble is a spiritual place of the spiritual temple of God.

And we are COMMANDED to assemble for a full seven days before our God; on the Feast of ULB, and the Feast of Tabernacles; and for the one day of the Feast of Pentecost!

Just because we are NOT commanded to live in temporary booths for the Feast of ULB, it does not mean that we are not to observe and meet in assembly for the full seven days!

We are specifically COMMANDED to observe the Feast of ULB for a full seven days “Before the Lord”!

Winter Weekends

When we spend large sums on a Winter Weekend and leaders even begin to refer to that as a spiritual lift like tabernacles; while at the same time refusing the REAL spiritual lift of obeying God and keeping his Feast of ULB with daily assemblies “Before the Lord” as god has commanded; we have made a grave error.

Here is the plain truth which may choke many: the Winter Weekend started with good intentions, but it has gotten way out of hand.

The Winter weekend, far from being a spiritual lift, is being used to sap resources and obedience to God, so that many claim that they cannot observe the full Feast of ULB, yet they can afford the Winter Weekend.  We can afford worldly pleasures, but we cannot afford or make time for obeying Almighty God!

Even if they had services all day every day during the Winter Weekend; it would amount to what Jeroboam did in doing a fake feast, instead of obeying and keeping the Feasts of God.

Brethren, you do not know what you are doing, or how very serious it is; when we refuse to observe one of God’s Feasts as commanded, while doing our own thing at another fake Feast [at the time of the pagan feast of Chirstmas no less]  of our own devising.

1 Kings 12:32   And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon the altar [of his idols, like we are doing to our corporate and pleasure idols today]. So did he in Bethel, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places which he had made.

33 So he offered upon the altar which he had made in Bethel the fifteenth day of the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and ordained a feast unto the children of Israel: and he offered upon the altar [like we do on the alter of our coporations and traditions] , and burnt incense.

Recommendations:

1)  Repent before God and commit to keeping his Feasts for the full seven days assembling daily “Before Him” as HE has commanded. Repent of polluting Sabbatha and High Days with participation in other peoples sins; like going to rstaurants and buying in other establishments, or doing manual work ourselves like cooking.

2)  Cancel Winter Family Weekends as they are now done; and leave sports days etc to local congregations.

3)   Have more and smaller Feast sites, and move them to more [and less expensive] rural areas and away from pleasure traps.

4)  Make the Feasts, spiritual Feasts, with real solid spiritual meat; instead of physical pleasure seeking. Provide solid spiritual food and drink; have psalm singalongs, special music concert performances, barbecues, dancing before God with the psalms, many Bible studies and Q&A’s in addition to services.

5)  Hold the Feast of ULB locally so that people can remain in their homes while meeting together daily.  And have this a time for the exchanging of and the visiting of outside [of the local comgregation]  elders, as well as special video presentations of concert performances of the Psalms and other spiritual music, special music, pot luck meals, singalongs, dances and strong instruction on the subject of Israel coming out of Egypt and the practical spiritual messages that testimony teaches the called out.

There is so much needing to be taught on the subject of coming out of and remaining clean from all sin.

Just see these links for a small part on the Spring Festival.  Part One  and Part Two

How about Bible studies through all the prophecies concerning Christ, or full studies through Matthew as I did last year; or John, or Luke, or Job?  Or the Epistles [ Part One  and Part Two ].  There is so much to learn and so little time in anyone’s lifetime.
