Psalm 29-34

Psalm 29

Sing praises and magnify the Eternal for all your strength comes from him.

1  Give unto the Lord, O ye mighty, give unto the Lord glory and strength. 2 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

There  is a mighty sound that is here and gone signifying nothing.  The voice of the Eternal is a mighty and powerful voice and his words and deeds are mighty and powerful; creating all things,  destroying death and engendering life eternal in peace.

By a  “VOICE”, commands are issued, and by the voice of the Creator; he commands his will and the earth with all that is on it was created.

There is mighty power in the voice which booms out the commandments of God, and the word of Christ the son of God;  Let us follow and obey him and all his commandments and techings!

3 The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the Lord is upon many waters. 4 The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty. 5 The voice of the Lord breaketh the cedars; yea, the Lord breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.

6 He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion [Mt Hermon 2,814 m (9,232 ft) above sea level]   like a young unicorn.

7 The voice of the Lord divideth the flames of fire. 8 The voice of the Lord shaketh the wilderness; the Lord shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.

9 The voice of the Lord maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory. 10 The Lord sitteth upon the flood; yea, the Lord sitteth King for ever.

God’s people, true Christians are those who follow Christ and keep all of his teachings and commandments; which are all the commandments of God.

11 The Lord will give strength unto his [faithful obedient] people; the Lord will bless his people with peace [in the resurrection, millennial kingdom of God and eternity].

Psalm 30

Because Christ has delivered us from sin and raised us up out of the pit of death, he deserved our praise and exaltation.  It is the Father and Christ who are to be exalted: NOT Any man!

1  I will extol thee, O Lord; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.

2 O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.

We shall be healed from the ultimate plague of death.

3 O Lord, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

4 Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

God seeks life for all humanity and he has given us the law of life; his correction is to teach us life and brings prosperity!

5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. 6 And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.

7 Lord, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain [government, house, family, kingdom] to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled [because of my sin].

When I sinned I was troubled and when I repented you delivered me.

The prayer of repentance.

8 I cried to thee, O Lord; and unto the Lord I made supplication.

9 What profit is there in my blood [the shedding of my blood], when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?

10 Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me: Lord, be thou my helper.

Rejoicing at forgiveness and acceptance, for they are the gift of God.

11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; 12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

Psalm 31

Trust in God and NOT in any man; follow men ONLY as they follow Christ; and continually search the scripture with prayer and an open mind to see whether your teachers are correct.

Trust in God and his word will deliver your life from the grave; no man can do that.

1  In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. 2 Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me. 3 For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me.

4 Pull me out of the net that they [false teachers]  have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength. 5 Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth. 6 I have hated them that regard lying vanities [such as the pagan prophecies and doctrines]: but I trust in the [Word of the] Lord.

In our trials and struggles with sin, Christ has not abandon us, if we get back up and keep on trying; running to him in repentance,  for deliverance. Because we trust in God and repent quickly and from the heart, seeking HIM early when we fall, God will lift us back up and not abandon us to the enemy Satan.

The lax, lukewarm and sinful he WILL give over to satan, that the affliction of the flesh may save the spirit.

Is this not why fasting is called “afflicting the flesh”?  Fasting and being allowed to suffer under the rod of Stan is for the purpose of destroying the pride of our carnal fleshly minds, crushing it into the fine power of contrition, so that we will become teachable and turn to God and his commandments,  saving the spirit.

1 Cor 5:5   To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

Even a little sin makes us sinful.

6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

7 Purge out therefore the old leaven,

Purge out ALL commandment breaking, for even the least breaking of the least commandment will pollute us before God.

that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

1 Cor 3:16   Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

God will destroy us if there is even the least pollution of unrepented willful sin in us.

Let us all love God’s law like David and repent of breaking God’s commandments when we fall short like David.  For this cause was David called a man after God’s own heart; which we are all to strive to become.

7 I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities; 8 And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room.

9 Have mercy upon me, O Lord, for I am in trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly. 10 For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed.

11 I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.

12 I am forgotten as a dead man [put] out of mind: I am like a broken vessel. 13 For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.

14 But I trusted in thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my God.

15 My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me. 16 Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies’ sake. 17 Let me not be ashamed, O Lord; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.

18 Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.

19 Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee [and do thy will]; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men! 20 Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

God will deliver his faithful from the many lies, persecutions and slanders of those who have made themselves their enemies.

21 Blessed be the Lord: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.

The strong city is the Jerusalem Above and the New Jerusalem of God which is the city of  mercy fro the repentant who do the will and keep the commandments of God; and it  shall rule the universe.

Rev 22:14   Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

When we fear that we are cut off from God; we need only repent from the heart with a pure unfeigned repentance and he shall forgive us and teach us his ways.

22 For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.

Love the Father and Christ with a passionate love that eagerly seeks to internalize the very nature, heart, mind and deeds of God.  Seek to be like them with all your hearts, removing every sin and polluting evil that comes between us and our God.

23 O love the Lord, all ye his saints: for the Lord preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud [those who are pleased and  proud to do the will of God; without being ashamed of the name and commandments of God] doer. 24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.

Psalm 32

When we do not sincerely  repent of sin, we are vexed day and night by our conscience; blessed is the one who repents and is forgiven, finding peace of mind through reconciliation to God

1  Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. 2 Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. 3 When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.4 For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.

5 I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

The sincerely repentant who seek the Eternal and keep his commandments need have no fear for they put their trust in Jesus Christ and the true Heavenly, Holy Father.

6 For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.

In times of great trial, we should put our trust in the promises of our God and pray this prayer.

7 Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

In his writings David guides us into respect and love of the law of God, which pleases God our Deliverer.

8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

If you refuse instruction and correction from the word of God, you are as a doumb bruit beast and will be given over to your enemies.

9 Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.

10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about.

11 Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

Psalm 33

1  Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright. 2 Praise the Lord with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. 3 Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.

Eph 5:18   And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

Don’t be given to alcohol, but rather to singing praise to God from the heart.

19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Think on the Word of God night and day and do his will with all your hearts.

4 For the word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth. 5 He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.

6 By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. 7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses.

8 Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

Thoughts of wickedness and compromise or rebellion against the Word and commandments will come to nothing except destruction if not repented of.

10 The Lord bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the [faithless] people of none effect.

11 The counsel of the Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations. 12 Blessed is the nation [spiritual (religion)  as well as physical] whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

Conversely, cursed are the people who exalt men, traditions and organizations above the law of God.

13 The Lord looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men. 14 From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.

15 He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.

Riches and organizations and physical power are as nothing before god; who is the Deliverer of all those who put their trust in him.  For all shall go down to the grave and only our God is able to raise them up.

Physical things are a smoke that dissipates and lasts but a moment in comparison of the true eternal riches of the spiritual law of God.

16 There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. 17 An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.

The hope of the faithful is in the Eternal, the Mighty One; beside whom there is NO other.

18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; 19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

20 Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield.

21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

Psalm 34

A song of joy for the faithful of God.

1  I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.

3 O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. 4 I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

5 They looked unto him, and were [en]lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.

6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

8 O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

9 O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want [no lack of the meat of God's word,. wisdom  or commandments] to them that fear him.

10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing.

How to achieve all truly good things.

11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?

13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

Guile is insidious cunning in attaining a goal; crafty or artful deception; duplicity, craftiness, cunning, foxiness, slyness

Of this there is NO lack in the COG Groups today.

14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

15 The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.

The righteousness of God is defined by his will and commandments.

16 The face of the Lord is against them that do evil [which is the breaking of God's commandments], to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

17 The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a [repentant] broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.

Referring to Christ as the righteous one who had no sin.

20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.

Those who persecute the zealous and drive them out of the assemblies shall be made desolate

21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.

22 The Lord redeemeth [delivers his faithful who serve him and do his will, keeping all of his commandments; with the application of his sacrifice] the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.
