NEWS: Israel is experiencing what they call an “unprecedented” blizzard, which is wreaking havoc on Kerry’s visit schedule.
UCG NEWS: This Blog is reaching many thousands across the COG spectrum and especially in UCG. In all the major COG groups the call to return to a genuine zeal to learn and to keep the whole word of God is being heard, and many are seriously studying and considering these warnings.
At the same time my warnings about the new post COGWA leadership of UCG and their doctrinal agenda is waking many in UCG up to what is really going on in that organization. This thread is not about turning in zeal to God, but is about changing existing teachings in UCG.
Nearly all of the present top level leaders of UCG were instrumental in making the Tkach changes in the WCG; and left UCG because they were being laid off, and to infiltrate the new UCG for a future try to apostatize it even further.
In the Tkach WCG, people like Kubik, Webber ect, bullied those who would not accept the “clarifications” and fired those who would not toe the Tkach line while certain others actually helped with the development of the Tkach doctrines.
These men have never come out and apologized to their victims or made a repentance or any apology to their victims; instead they routinely justify themselves by saying, as Larry Walker has said about Vik: “you don’t know what poor Victor was going through…and he had to do what he did as long as Joe T…was his boss.”
Think about that for a minute! What an astounding statement! Which is somehow supposed to justify the actions of those now on the CoE. What are these men saying?
They are saying that they have no loyalty to the word of God and moral behavior, and that they would pervert doctrine and commit any outrage for a paycheck.
They are justifying their outrages by saying they needed the job! And they and many of their hearers are too spiritually blind to see how contemptible, revolting and disgusting to God, that statement really is!
They would make good Nazi’s indeed: “I was only following orders!
Now that they have managed to split off from the loyalists to existing doctrine [COGWA], they have made huge gains in changing the attitude in UCG into a “lets tolerate anything [except the truth] for the sake of organizational loyalty”.
The first step was to change the attitude of the brethren, and now they are re-examining their doctrines or fundamental beliefs. Yet they continually and loudly proclaim that they are not changing doctrine, only clarifying doctrine; just like they did for Joe T.
This is the same old lie that they were telling in the Tkach years! They say that they are not changing doctrine as they present new meanings for the existing doctrine.
One way to describe this, is to say that we have a cake and then change its ingredients from chocolate to vanilla; we can then claim that we still have a cake, but is it really the same cake?
Brethren, do not be deceived; to change the meaning of a doctrine, or to change the way a doctrine is understood and kept in practice: IS DOCTRINAL CHANGE!
The people who claim that they are not changing doctrine; as they change the meanings and explanations of their fundamental beliefs, and water down the application of that doctrine; are simply telling the same lie that they were telling the brethren in WCG!
As UCG is shaken by the truth being revealed, they are fighting back.
Recently Randy Schreiber sent out a letter to all the brethren in northern Arizona with his denial of doctrinal change. This letter was sent by email to all who had computer access and by surface mail to all others. At the end he asks that the letter not be circulated further, thus revealing his anxiety that it might be posted here along with a serious examination of its content.
The length of this letter and the amount of deception employed, is demonstrative of the upset in the leadership as they re-examine their fundamental beliefs for possible clarification.
The points of this letter are based on false premise’s, and filled with distractions from the truth and false arguments. Without naming me, he goes to great length to call me a slanderer [liar] for telling the truth and warning the brethren.
The method of this letter is to make false assumptions and then build an argument based on those false assumptions. There are many in UCG who are getting this letter now, so to set the record straight; here is Randy’s letter. The top line in blue is his opening.
PLEASE CAREFULLY READ THIS LETTER AND ESPECIALLY STUDY THE BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES IN THE SCRIPTURES LISTED
Dear Northern Arizona Brethren –
As your local pastor, I need to address a couple of issues that have arisen in the local congregation. While I need to address the biblical principles related to the problem, I am not going to discuss personalities or ascribe motives to individuals, nor should you. I am only interested in clarifying possible misunderstandings and, more importantly, reminding you of some vital biblical principles in dealing with similar issues that will undoubtedly arise in the future.
The issues at hand have to do with accusations being made against two ministers in the United Church of God, and against UCG itself.
The first accusation is against a minister over actions that he allegedly did over 18 years ago and by extension, saying that he is now wanting to take UCG the wrong direction.
Servant’s News published this assessment of UCG in 1997.
The second accusation is against Larry Walker, UCG pastor in Oregon. Mr. Walker gave a sermon in which he discussed the importance of doctrine and unity. The accusation is that Mr Walker was saying that doctrine is not important, that “only love is.”
This is a false statement as all those who have heard or read the Larry Walker sermon know. FAR from declaring the importance of doctrine, Larry declared that doctrine was NOT important at all and was a source of division, he then insisted that all elders tolerate a diversity of Doctrine; as long as people kept a low profile; for the sake of the appearance of organizational unity.
Larry said that false doctrine had to be tolerated for the sake of an organizational unity. This post has a Chairman’s letter first, so you will have to scroll down to the Larry Walker comments.
Such statements raise warning flags, especially to those of us who went through WCG apostasy in 1995. Anything that smells of doing away with the law should be of concern. The scripture warns us against deceivers, so we get suspicious. We do indeed need to be aware of anyone deceiving us in any way. A part of this letter is intended to help us discern the difference between false accusations and wrong doing that we need to reject.
Before addressing the accusations against these two ministers, I would like to pose the question, “What should you do if a minister is teaching or doing what you feel to be error?”
Let me set up an example: If I were to give a sermon and you thought I said that the law was not important – scripturally what should you do?
•1. Do nothing •2. Start spreading the word that Schreiber is doing away with the law? •3. Call the UCG Home Office and report me? •4. Quit associating with UCG? •5. Talk with me about the sermon and express your questions and concerns?
The only right first step is #5. According to Jesus words, Matt 18:15 “Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’
Notice that he carefully omits the next step; which is to go to the Brethren!
The above is very deceitful and intended to make me look contrary to Christ; in fact many have gone to these men before I did go to the brethren.
Further the wickedness of these men is a matter of public record, as MANY were bullied and expelled from their jobs; this was not any secret or private offense. It was very well known among the elders as is their re-examining of their present fundamental beliefs public knowledge.
Indeed they admit it, only saying that they did it to have a job!
So – if have an issue with me – you would talk with me about it in order to seek clarification on what I said about the law. The outcomes of the discussions would be:
· I would tell you what I actually meant from the sermon and explain it better. –OR-
· I would apologize if I said something in error – and change. –OR-
· I would affirm what you thought I said.
If I was teaching error – then you would verify it with someone else – and/or go to the Home Office to have me corrected.
Again he presents statements totally irrelevant to the issue. There is no dispute about the facts which I have presented after MANY had been victimized; and they have openly admitted the facts of their past conduct. There is no secret to be kept, the matter is public and well known among the elders; just kept secret from the brethren.
Now Randy tries to defend these wicked men, in spite of the fact that they openly admit to their evil deeds. And he tries to defend these men by attacking me and accusing me of being contrary to the word of God; when I am completely consistent with the word of God.
Here is further instruction regarding accusations against anyone.
· First you go to the person you have a problem with to seek resolution.
Randy then tries to say that this issue is just a matter of an internet rumor, when these men openly admit their guilt, because there are dozens of witness to the facts which they cannot deny.
Again there is no doubt of their guilt and they openly admit it, saying that they did it because they needed a job! An internet rumor? Randy please get real.
The next paragraphs are irrelevant to the issue since there are dozens of witnesses.
· 1 Tim 5:19 Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses (Being repeated several times on the Internet does not qualify). 20 Those who sin are to be rebuked publicly, so that the others may take warning.
· Deut 19:15 “A single witness shall not suffice against a person for any crime or for any wrong in connection with any offense that he has committed. Only on the evidence of two witnesses or of three witnesses shall a charge be established. 16 If a malicious witness arises to accuse a person of wrongdoing, 17 then both parties to the dispute shall appear before the Lord, before the priests and the judges who are in office in those days. 18 The judges shall inquire diligently, and if the witness is a false witness and has accused his brother falsely, 19 then you shall do to him as he had meant to do to his brother. So you shall purge the evil from your midst. 20 And the rest shall hear and fear, and shall never again commit any such evil among you. ESV
I write about what I have proven to be true; and the open confessions of these men caps off the proofs of dozens of witnesses and victims.
God is very direct about what we are to do when we have an issue with someone. While it “makes good press” among critics and detractors to talk with others about what you think to be true – God calls it something else: Prov 6:16 These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: 17 A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, 19 A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.
The statement below is good; which is why I have indeed proved what I have said before printing it! Let me ask Randy why he has not contacted me to get the facts before writing his slanderous letter? He does not follow his own instructions and thereby calls himself a slanderer!
I have presented the truth [therefore the following section on slander is irrelevant] which is openly admitted by these men; and Randy then calls me a slanderer [liar] when it is he who is slandering me!
If you have not, in a scriptural manner, verified a statement or a supposed sin you have against someone – then YOU become the sinner – a breaker of the law. If you have not spoken to the person you are accusing – if you are spreading rumors about someone based only on a partial truth or inaccurate information – you are slandering that person.
· slander : to make a false spoken statement that causes people to have a bad opinion of someone
· defamation (slander) is the communication of a false statement that harms the reputation of an individual, business, product, group, government, religion, or nation.
Here is more of what God says about half-truths, inaccurate or unsubstantiated information, distorted or prejudiced views, exaggerated statements, outright lies, etc.
· Ex 20:16 You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
· Ex 23:7 Keep far away from falsely charging anyone with evil; never let an innocent person be put to death. I will not stand for this. TLB
· Lev 19:16 “‘Do not go about spreading slander among your people. 17 “‘Do not hate your brother in your heart. Rebuke your neighbor frankly (go to him with your issue) so you will not share in his guilt. 18 “‘Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord. NIV
· Ps 101:5 I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbors. I will not endure conceit and pride.
· Prov 17:4 Wrongdoers eagerly listen to gossip; liars pay close attention to slander. NLT
· Eph 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
Now Randy claims that I am saying that UCG is doing away with the law. Get your facts Randy; I never said any such thing; even the evangelicals say “Keep the commandments” and so will UCG continue to say that; however they make the commandments of no effect by their own explanations and watering down of the MEANING of those commandments which is what UCG is doing.
A classic example is the Sabbath, where they continue to say that the Sabbath is holy as they break the biblical rules of Sabbath keeping and tread all over the admittedly holy Sabbath.
The current chairman of the Doctrinal Committee is an infamous permissive who is know for teaching that his brethren can attend Christmas activities if they are good for their employment or a time to gather with their families. John Elliot on judgments [clarifications] of the law.
Consider the incongruity of this situation: A person spreads a false rumor that UCG is “doing away with the law.” In the process he “bearing false witness” – thus boldly breaking a commandment himself. God also addresses that.
· James 4:11 Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. 12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you — who are you to judge your neighbor?
· Rom 2:1 Do you, my friend, pass judgment on others? You have no excuse at all, whoever you are. For when you judge others and then do the same things which they do, you condemn yourself. 2 We know that God is right when he judges the people who do such things as these. 3 But you, my friend, do those very things for which you pass judgment on others! Do you think you will escape God’s judgment? TEV
The next paragraph is so blatantly false, that it is amazing that Randy would say this. Larry Walker said that diversity of doctrine must be tolerated for organizational peace and unity. Larry was talking about DOCTRINE: NOT about personal preferences of a non biblical nature.
Then Randy tries to say that their might have been some confusion in understanding Larry. Larry was very clear saying that DOCTRINE, [not personal preference issues outside of the law] was the chief cause of division, and that UCG elders MUST TOLERATE DOCTRINAL DIVERSITY for the sake of unity.
There is no doubt about what Larry said.
Let’s get back to Mr Larry Walker’s sermon on the importance of doctrine and unity. Some have accused him of beginning to try to do away with the law, like happened in 1995 with WCG. I think that most who heard his sermon understood what he was talking about. What he was saying about personal beliefs and understanding within the law of God is the same as what Paul said in Romans 14. Read, study and understand Romans 14, and you will understand what Mr Walker was saying. Unfortunately, how he stated some of what he meant, left doubt in some people’s mind. In principle you could liken it to Peter’s statement about Paul: 2 Peter 3:16 NLT Some of his comments are hard to understand, and those who are ignorant and unstable have twisted his letters to mean something quite different, just as they do with other parts of Scripture. And this will result in their destruction.
Randy then posts a link demonstrating that Larry Walker believes that Christ kept the commandments; but changed their meaning through his teachings; implying the lie that we have the right to change the meaning of the commandments because of the example of Christ.
Brethren Jesus Christ was the God who originally GAVE the commandments and the word of God: No man has any right to change the meaning of the commandments through “clarifications”.!
To give you a short version of what Mr Walker believes about the law of God, I will refer you to an article on the UCG.ORG web-site: http://www.ucg.org/doctrinal-beliefs/which-commandments-did-jesus-break/ (A couple paragraphs from his article):
Larry now makes a positive personal statement about the law; which sentiments are not shared by the UCG leadership. I think that Randy has his eyes closed to reality like most in pre 95 WCG.
So Jesus’ warning not only applies to anyone who disobeys even a minor detail of God’s law and teaches others to do the same. Even “loosing,” or relaxing, any of the requirements is forbidden, because that is the first step toward destroying the law. Jesus pronounces the severest penalty on any who would break or loosen even the least of the Old Testament commandments.
Perhaps you have heard the story, “For lack of a lace, a shoe was lost. For lack of a shoe, a soldier was lost. For lack of a soldier, a battle was lost. For lack of a battle the war was lost.”
The lesson is clear. No one should be careless about any detail of God’s law, however minor it may seem.
Why does Randy then pollute the Sabbath? I recommend that you study your Bible and then compare its teachings with the teachings of your Group; I also recommend that you save the present explanations of Doctrine to compare then with what is coming.
If you personally have any questions about where Larry Walker, or the United Church of God stands regarding the law of God, I suggest you read the entire article, and any of the dozens of other articles, sermons, etc. that are put out by the church. You should also listen to Larry Walker’s sermons on the covenants at http://bend.ucg.org/sermons If you still have questions, you are obligated to speak with Mr Walker personally about your concerns. He can be reached at http://bend.ucg.org/contact
In practical terms UCG has done away with the Sabbath by leaving it up to people to decide what they will or will not allow on Sabbath, instead of obeying the word of God on the subject.
Yes, most certainly and without any doubt; UCG has been moving at high speed to change toward a permissive social club organization.
If anyone insinuates that UCG is doing away with, or watering down the laws of God – it is simply not true, and is slander. Just because an accusation is made does not make it true. About three years ago many people were saying that UCG was going to “do away with the Sabbath”. It was a lie. Be careful what you listen to and what you believe.
Notice others who were accused of trying to “do away with” or “water down” the law:
Here Randy tries to equate UCG with Jesus Christ; UCG is not Jesus Christ!
· Jesus and disciples:
o John 9:16 Therefore some of the Pharisees said, “This Man is not from God, because He does not keep the Sabbath.”
o Matt 12:2 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to Him, “Look, Your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath!”
o Matt 26:59 Now the chief priests, the elders, and all the council sought false testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, 60 but found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none. But at last two false witnesses came forward 61 and said, “This fellow said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days.’”
o Acts 6:13 This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place and the law
o Acts 21:20 You see, brother, how many myriads of Jews there are who have believed, and they are all zealous for the law; 21 but they have been informed about you that you teach all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children nor to walk according to the customs. :28 Men of Israel, help! This is the man who teaches all men everywhere against the people, the law, and this place
o Acts 25:7 When he had come, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood about and laid many serious complaints against Paul, which they could not prove, 8 while he answered for himself, “Neither against the law of the Jews, nor against the temple, nor against Caesar have I offended in anything at all.”
Now Randy gets to the Kubik situation directly.
The other accusation against a minister is an incident that happened 18 years ago.
There were multiple firings by Kubik as well as the bullying and forcing of elders to teach the Tkach changes. Kubik has admitted to these actions with the excuse that he needed the job. Robin Webber was also right in there with Kubik, as were many others now in UCG.
· The incident involves a minister stating that he was fired from the church for preaching the truth. Most of you realize that firings are done for a variety of reasons. In the majority of firings there two sides to the story. If you have been told about this particular incident – you have one side to the story and an incomplete and partial truth.
· Please refer back to 1 Tim 5:19 and Deut 19:15 before jumping on a side.
· Also consider that, even IF this minister had done wrong to the other minister – does God not command us to forgive? God commands us to repent! Which of us would want our mistakes or supposed mistakes made known to the world and gossiped about in church circles? God’s statute of limitations is the moment of repentance. It certainly does not extend back 18 years! Just a couple of the many scriptures addressing forgiveness:
Again Randy goes off into his explanations based on a false premise. These men have NOT repented; they have made excuses and justified their sins; it is written that “by their fruits ye shall know them”. Mat 7. This is not about forgiving; it is about deciding who we will follow; Jesus Christ and the word of God, or the wolves in our midst.
· Matt 6:14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
· Col 3:12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
I will not belabor the issue, but it is of vital importance that we not get caught up into the trap of feeding on negativity, gossip and slander. As the end of the age comes to a close, the Devil knows he has a short time and will do anything he can to destroy us. Remain alert to wolves spreading false doctrine – because they are out there. ALSO be aware of wolves spreading false accusations because they are active too!
Prove all things and hold fast to the truth! Remain alert to the wolves in the assembly as warned by Jesus Mat 24 and Jude. We are to be of ONE mind with God and his word; not with apostates.
1 Peter 3:8 Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; 9 not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. 10 For “He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit. 11 Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it.
Randy then asks that the letter be kept secret, no doubt to prevent its errors from being exposed.
This letter is a series of scripture which is presented as an argument based on false premise’. Watch the premise!
These men are:
1. They are changing doctrine by manipulating their explanation of its meaning and calling that “clarifications” not doctrinal change.
2. These men have openly admitted their atrocious actions, and are not loyal to existing doctrine as proven by 20 years of apostasy.
Unless there are others that you know are directly affected by these issues, I do not think it would be in the best interest of the church in general for you to pass this email around to others.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me and let’s discuss them. I love you all and wish you a fine week!
