General Laws of the Sacrifice
We must not eat any animal fat, but it can be used for other purposes; if it is not killed in sacrifice.
7:22 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 7:23 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, Ye shall eat no manner of fat, of ox, or of sheep, or of goat. 7:24 And the fat of the beast that dieth of itself, and the fat of that which is torn with beasts, may be used in any other use: but ye shall in no wise eat of it.
This is not some light thing to God but is the same as if one refused to fast on the Fast of Atonement.
7:25 For whosoever eateth the fat of the beast, of which men offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, even the soul that eateth it shall be cut off from his people.
The same is true of eating any blood.
7:26 Moreover ye shall eat no manner of blood, whether it be of fowl or of beast, in any of your dwellings. 7:27 Whatsoever soul it be that eateth any manner of blood, even that soul shall be cut off from his people.
7:28 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 7:29 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, He that offereth the sacrifice of his peace offerings unto the LORD shall bring his oblation unto the LORD of the sacrifice of his peace offerings.
The offer of the Peace Offering shall give the breast, fat and kidneys to the priest that he may “wave” it; lifting it up and down to be accepted by god for the offerer. This speaks to the lifting of the Lamb of God to be accepted as reconciling us to peace with the Father.
7:30 His own hands shall bring the offerings of the LORD made by fire, the fat with the breast, it shall he bring, that the breast may be waved for a wave offering before the LORD. 7:31 And the priest shall burn the fat upon the altar: but the breast shall be Aaron’s and his sons’.
Breast given to the priest for the wave offering to be lifted and brought back down and then to belong to the priest, the fatty parts to be burned on the alter and right foreleg given to officiating priest (heave offering) the rump and ribs for the offerer.
7:32 And the right shoulder shall ye give unto the priest for an heave offering of the sacrifices of your peace offerings. 7:33 He among the sons of Aaron, that offereth the blood of the peace offerings, and the fat, shall have the right shoulder for his part.
7:34 For the wave breast and the heave shoulder have I taken of the children of Israel from off the sacrifices of their peace offerings, and have given them unto Aaron the priest and unto his sons by a statute for ever from among the children of Israel.
Please notice that these parts of the sacrifices were in addition to the tithes which is another subject.
The granting of these parts to the priests was much more than physical sustenance; it was an admonition that the priests [the Aaronic priesthood was replaced by the High Priesthood of Jesus Christ] MUST be partakers of the offerings; that the ministry must consume the sacrifices as an allegory, that they must at [internalize the nature of ] Jesus Christ and his word fully.
7:35 This is the portion of the anointing of Aaron, and of the anointing of his sons, out of the offerings of the LORD made by fire, in the day when he presented them to minister unto the LORD in the priest’s office; 7:36 Which the LORD commanded to be given them of the children of Israel, in the day that he anointed them [anointed the priest to service , by a statute for ever throughout their generations.
The sacrificial system sums up the work of Jesus Christ and the example of service that we are to follow!
This is the job of the ministry and brethren of Jesus Christ today:
To internalize the whole word of God; and to bring ourselves and the people into a peaceful reconciled relationship with the Father; by rebuking sin and teaching true sincere repentance, by teaching them zeal to learn and to keep the whole word of God!
By internalizing the very nature of Jesus Christ ourselves and teaching others to do likewise; by serving and teachings others to serve the Father and Christ; with patient Christ-like dedicated wholehearted service to the Father
7:37 This is the law of the burnt offering, of the meat offering, and of the sin offering, and of the trespass offering, and of the consecrations, and of the sacrifice of the peace offerings; 7:38 Which the LORD commanded Moses in mount Sinai, in the day that he commanded the children of Israel to offer their oblations unto the LORD, in the wilderness of Sinai.
The Priesthood and Tabernacle consecrated
8:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 8:2 Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments, and the anointing oil, and a bullock for the sin offering, and two rams, and a basket of unleavened bread; 8:3 And gather thou all the congregation together unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
8:4 And Moses did as the LORD commanded him; and the assembly was gathered together unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. 8:5 And Moses said unto the congregation, This is the thing which the LORD commanded to be done.
This event is the initial consecration of the priesthood of Aaron and the Tabernacle of God.
This was an instructional allegory of the priesthood of Jesus Christ; [which priesthood we are ALL called into]. We must first repent and be baptized, committing to “go and sin no more”; the blood of the sacrifice being applied to cover our sin, then being washed clean [so that no blemish or sin exist] by the water of the whole word of God, and finally being sanctified by the anointing of the holy spirit..
8:6 And Moses brought Aaron and his sons, and washed them with water.
Then we can be dressed in the royal robes of righteousness; which is the whole word of God.
Revelation 19:8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
Leviticus 8:7 And he put upon him the coat, and girded him with the girdle, and clothed him with the robe, and put the ephod upon him, and he girded him with the curious girdle of the ephod, and bound it unto him therewith. 8:8 And he put the breastplate upon him: also he put in the breastplate the Urim and the Thummim.
8:9 And he put the mitre [crown] upon his head; also upon the mitre, even upon his forefront, did he put the golden plate, the holy crown; as the LORD commanded Moses.
Then the oil representing the holy spirit was used to sanctify the tabernacle [temple] and all the holy things. That oil represents the holy spirit and the very nature of God the Father in heaven, being placed on and in us, and sanctifying those things upon which it is put; to the service of the Father in heaven.
8:10 And Moses took the anointing oil, and anointed the tabernacle and all that was therein, and sanctified them. 8:11 And he sprinkled thereof upon the altar seven times, and anointed the altar and all his vessels, both the laver and his foot, to sanctify them.
Aaron and the priesthood sanctified by the oil representing the holy spirit.
8:12 And he poured of the anointing oil upon Aaron’s head, and anointed him, to sanctify him. [to the service of God]
8:13 And Moses brought Aaron’s sons, and put coats upon them, and girded them with girdles, and put bonnets [Lessor crowns, Aaron the high priest of the Mosaic Covenant, an allegory of Jesus Christ the High Priest of the New Covenant; and the priests, an allegory of the Chosen to be priests of the New Covenant] upon them; as the LORD commanded Moses.
The sin offering covering the sins of the priesthood is offered for them.
8:14 And he brought the bullock for the sin offering: and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the bullock for the sin offering.
The blood of the Sin Offering for the priests, was poured out to purify from sin and reconcile the offerers to the Father in heaven. This speaks of Jesus Christ in his capacity as the Sin Offering for the Chosen to his priesthood.
8:15 And he slew it; and Moses took the blood, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about with his finger, and purified the altar, and poured the blood at the bottom of the altar, and sanctified it, to make reconciliation upon it.
The fat was burned on the alter as for the Sin Offering for the priests, picturing the energy of Christ in atoning for the sins of the priests and reconciling them to the Father in heaven.
8:16 And he took all the fat that was upon the inwards, and the caul above the liver, and the two kidneys, and their fat, and Moses burned it upon the altar.
The remainder of the bullock was taken and burned completely outside the camp; according to the instructions for a Sin Offering for the priests.
8:17 But the bullock, and his hide, his flesh, and his dung, he burnt with fire without the camp; as the LORD commanded Moses.
The Burnt Offering
Sin having been atoned for, a Burnt Offering was then offered, picturing the complete dedicated wholehearted service of Messiah to the Father; which example the priests [we are ALL called to be priests] are to follow.
The Ram picturing the leadership of the flock in the strong power of the dedicated godliness and zeal for the whole word of God pictured by the Burnt Offering.
8:18 And he brought the ram for the burnt offering: and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the ram. 8:19 And he killed it; and Moses sprinkled the blood upon the altar round about. 8:20 And he cut the ram into pieces; and Moses burnt the head, and the pieces, and the fat.
Washing the inward parts of the ram was still another indication that we are to fully internalize the word and nature of God into the heart of our very beings.
Eph 5:25 . . . . even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, [any uncleanness or sin] or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Leviticus 8:21 And he washed the inwards and the legs in water; and Moses burnt the whole ram upon the altar: it was a burnt sacrifice for a sweet savour, and an offering made by fire unto the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moses.
The Ram of Consecration for the priests: This appears to be a kind of Peace Offering
8:22 And he brought the other ram, the ram of consecration: and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the ram. 8:23 And he slew it; and Moses took of the blood of it, and put it upon the tip of Aaron’s right ear, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot. 8:24 And he brought Aaron’s sons, and Moses put of the blood upon the tip of their right ear, and upon the thumbs of their right hands, and upon the great toes of their right feet: and Moses sprinkled the blood upon the altar round about.
The fat, kidneys, the right foreleg and a piece of unleavened bread were waved to the Father; being lifted up and then brought back down; by the priests.
8:25 And he took the fat, and the rump, and all the fat that was upon the inwards, and the caul above the liver, and the two kidneys, and their fat, and the right shoulder: 8:26 And out of the basket of unleavened bread, that was before the LORD, he took one unleavened cake, and a cake of oiled bread, and one wafer, and put them on the fat, and upon the right shoulder: 8:27 And he put all upon Aaron’s hands, and upon his sons’ hands, and waved them for a wave offering before the LORD.
These parts were then burned on the alter the smoke rising into the air, as a demonstration that these men had been reconciled to the Father through the Sin Offering, and that peace now reigned between God and the consecrated priesthood.
This being an allegory that we are reconciled to the Father by sincere repentance, the application of the Sin Offering of Jesus Christ and the washing of water [by the holy spirit] of the whole word of God; gained by diligently learning and zealously keeping the whole word of God.
8:28 And Moses took them from off their hands, and burnt them on the altar upon the burnt offering: they were consecrations for a sweet savour: it is an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
Moses as the mediator of the Mosaic Covenant was given the breast of the Ram of consecration.
8:29 And Moses took the breast, and waved it for a wave offering before the LORD: for of the ram of consecration it was Moses’ part; as the LORD commanded Moses.
The blood was sprinkled on the priests ,indicating that the New Covenant priesthood being consecrated and covered by the blood of Jesus Christ. the oil was also sprinkled on then as representative that the Chosen priests of the order of [Melchesidek] Jesus Christ, will be filled with the holy spirit of Christ and the Father.
Many have been called to become priest of Jesus Christ but only a very small number will be Chosen. Mat 20:16, 22:14
8:30 And Moses took of the anointing oil, and of the blood which was upon the altar, and sprinkled it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon his sons’ garments with him; and sanctified Aaron, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons’ garments with him.
The Ram of Consecration with its bead offering is to be eaten by the offerers [the priests].
8:31 And Moses said unto Aaron and to his sons, Boil the flesh at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and there eat it with the bread that is in the basket of consecrations, as I commanded, saying, Aaron and his sons shall eat it. 8:32 And that which remaineth of the flesh and of the bread [until morning] shall ye burn with fire.
They are to remain in the tabernacle for seven days. These seven days picture completeness, and the New Covenant Chosen for the priesthood of Jesus Christ, will consist of only those who have proved their complete devotion to God and the whole word of God.
8:33 And ye shall not go out of the door of the tabernacle of the congregation in seven days, until the days of your consecration be at an end: for seven days shall he consecrate you.
8:34 As he hath done this day, so the LORD hath commanded to do, to make an atonement for you.
8:35 Therefore shall ye abide at [inside of] the door of the tabernacle of the congregation day and night seven days, and keep the charge of the LORD, that ye die not: for so I am commanded.
8:36 So Aaron and his sons did all things which the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.
