NEWS: A group of Palestinians activists erected a new outpost named Bab al-Huriye (“Gate of Freedom”), near the village of Burin, south of Nablus. Illegal settlers then went to the scene and started hurling stones at the about 200 Palestinians tenting on their own land, until IDF troops arrived and began to drag the Palestinians out of the encampment. Interesting how they try to invoke the Bible to steal land and then pollute the Sabbath.
Security forces are still present and reinforcing. The two previous Palestinian outposts, Bab al-Shams (“Gate of the Sun”) in E1 and Bab al-Karama (“Gate of Dignity”) near Beit Iksa north of Jerusalem, were evacuated within a few days by the IDF.
Yesterday four Gaza farmers were wounded by Israeli gunfire.
Mark 10:1
And he arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judaea by [way of] the farther [east] side of Jordan: and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again [as they walked along].
Divorce and remarriage expounded by the Creator of male and female.
10:2 And the Pharisees came to him, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? tempting him.
10:3 And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?10:4 And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.
Divorce was allowed because of the UNCONVERTED, UNREPENTANT, SINFUL NATURE OF MAN as a means of alleviating suffering. Christ knew that men and women would be unkind, unforgiving and full of selfishness, and granted that when the situation became insufferable a divorce might take place. Yet divorce was NEVER intended and was NEVER the will of the Creator.
The will of God is that a marriage should be dissolved ONLY by death; that any couple in the faith and supposedly with God’s spirit; supposedly loving, kind hearted, forgiving, repentant, who divorces in the faith is committing sin against God’s will and against his spirit!
We will be forgiven by God in direct proportion to how we forgive others, and if we cannot forgive the one that we have vowed before God to love for a lifetime; THEN WE ARE NOT FIT TO BE A PART OF THE BRIDE OF CHRIST!
10:5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.
Physical marriage was meant to teach us of the; eternal, passionately loving, repentant, caring, cooperative, obedient, faithful wife that the Creator wants for eternity. And was to be a tiny example of the kind of passionately loving, giving, forgiving, faithful Creator Husband!
The called out and converted are supposed to be filled with the spirit, the very nature, of Jesus Christ.
10:6 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. 10:7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; 10:8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.
Jesus then commands the will of God that when a couple is joined in the God created institution of marriage: They are NOT TO DIVORCE!
10:9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
A private instruction to the Called out disciples of Jesus Christ. We are supposed to be the called out disciples of Christ; let us therefore listen to and follow his instructions.
10:10 And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter.
10:11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. 10:12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
To divorce for the sake of peace is possible, but divorce is the fruit of SIN on the part of one or both spouses. Behind all the problems in a marriage is usually the sin of selfishness, of wanting ones own way. “You will do what I say; no, I have my rights.” Instead of communicating and cooperating with each other in such passionate love, that each is willing to cooperate and serve the other even unto death for each other.
And if because of a hardness of heart by one or both spouses a separation is made; they are NOT to remarry!
1 Cor 7:10 And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: 11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.
1 Cor 7:39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. [and the same for the husband]
Divorce is only permitted for adultery. Therefore if a spouse leaves [divorces] they are unconverted
Mat 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication [pornea (adultery or any type of sexual infidility) ], causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
Divorce is a great evil, but remarriage is adultery and is a greater evil. No person who divorces and remarries in the faith shall enter the Kingdom of God without repentance.
Mat 19:9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
10 His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.
11 But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given. 12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother’s womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
If a couple in the faith divorces; to remarry is to live in adultery. Nevertheless, to repent and be baptized is to have all past sins removed, therefore a hundred divorces and remarriages BEFORE conversion is washed away at baptism and one goes forward in a new life in Christ.
If when one is baptized, being already married to an unconverted spouse, and they later leave, never having committed themselves to the faith; then the converted person is like they are single and are not bound to the antagonistic unconverted spouse.
1 Cor 7:15 But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage [bound by the law of marriage] in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.
The lesson of childlike trust, faith and teachability.
10:13 And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. 10:14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
Whoever is filled with a hunger and thirst for spiritual knowledge, and is willing to learn and keep the teachings of the heavenly Father like an enthusiastic young child; is of the Kingdom of God. Those who are complacent and lacking in zeal for learning more and more; who sit back on their own traditions and stand on the past not continually growing in grace [repentance] and knowledge, towards a full unity with the Father will not be there.
2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
10:15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. 10:16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.
The question of how to inherit eternal life; the key question about the wat to salvation.
10:17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
Even though he was perfect and sinless, Jesus while in the flesh demonstrated true humility and whole hearted love of his Father in heaven, saying that only God [in this case meaning the Father] is good.
10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
Jesus said: To enter eternal life: KEEP THE COMMNDMENTS!
10:19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother. 10:20 And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.
Jesus then pointed out the one commandment that the young man was [possibly unknowingly] breaking. Placing material things above the spiritual, which is the sin of idolatry. This same sin is extant today.
10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. 10:22 And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.
Trusting in transitory physical things which we can see and hold in our hands, is a great distraction away from the spiritual things of lasting value.
10:23 And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!10:24 And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God! 10:25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
10:26 And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then can be saved? 10:27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
Peter then asks what is the reward of the disciples of Christ?
10:28 Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.
Jesus then said that the true brethren will indeed a larger family of brethren, based on the foundation of unity with Christ. Those who turn from physical desires to desire the spiritual thing s of Christ shall have that love and committed dedicate to Christ and the Father as their foundation for unity among themselves.
Oh my dear friends, those of you who would compromise with unity with God to gain an appearance of corporate unity, have gone very far astray and been deceived into rejecting the ONLY source and foundation of true unity among the brethren: Which is a full personal unity with God, through the internalizing of the nature of God within ourselves by the passionate committed dedicated keeping of all his commandments and the doing of God’s will; through the exercising of the gift of the spirit of God!
10:29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, 10:30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
There are those who have been in the faith for 60 years and have been basically treading water; with little growth. Then there are some who have been in the faith for only a few years who have learned more than those of sixty years in the faith.
That is the meaning that many of those first called, shall be last in the Kingdom; while many who are called last shall have a first or higher place. The parable of the talents makes this plain. The reward is according to the zealous effort pout into internalizing the nature of God and growing in grace [repentance and overcoming] and knowledge.
Mat 25:24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: 27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. 29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
10:31 But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.
Jesus began to teach his disciples those things that should shrtly befall him; an dthey were astonished and afraid for they had thought that he would bring the Kingdom right then.
10:32 And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid.
And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him, 10:33 Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles: 10:34 And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.
James and John, who had seen the transfiguraton and would be with Peter the yhree which Jesus would pray with in the garden, seek the preeminance. This is no different today with many seeking personal preemionence instead of the humility of christ.
10:35 And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, come unto him, saying, Master, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall desire. 10:36 And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?10:37 They said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and the other on thy left hand, in thy glory.
Jesus asks them of they are willing to be martyered for him. At that time they did not understand, but later they would have understood when they saw Chirst crucified.
10:38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? 10:39 And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized: 10:40 But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.
Rivalry among the disciples of Christ, as it is so today.
10:41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be much displeased with James and John.
Jesus gives instrucions in godly leadership.
10:42 But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. 10:43 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister [servant]: 10:44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be [the most humble servant among you] servant of all.
10:45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
The healing of blind Bartimaeus; an example for the Kingdom of God when Christ shall open all eyes and all shall see and understand the things of God:
Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. 31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.
32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call.
10:46 And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. 10:47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. 10:48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.
10:49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. 10:50 And he, casting away his garment [cloak], rose, and came to Jesus.
10:51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. 10:52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.
