Mat 27-28
The chief priests and elders sent Jesus bound to the Roman governor.
Notice that it was the established Church of God of the day that rejected Christ, just like it is the established church that rejects him today.
How can I say that? Because they draw near to him with their lips while in their actions they are far from and DO NOT KEEP his teachings nor his commandments.
Mat 15:6 . . . . Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, 8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Mat 27:1 When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death: 27:2 And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
Judas repents. Judas had probably thought that Yeshua would be thrown into prison and had not understood the intent of the chief of the ordained ministry to kill him. Judas also understood that in his greed and his anger he had betrayed an innocent. The ministry then said in so many words; ”We don’t care”.
27:3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 27:4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. 27:5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.
The priests then bought a field in which to bury the dead; showing that they were the ministers of death; as are all those who do not teach uncompromising enthusiastic obedience to the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ and the Father.
27:6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. 27:7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in. 27:8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day [the day of the writing].
Matthew then quotes Zech 11:12-23; can anyone locate this in Jeremiah?
27:9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value; 27:10And gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord appointed me.
Yeshua before the Roman governor
27:11 And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.
27:12 And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing. 27:13 Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee? 27:14 And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.
The guilty prisoner Barabbas was released in exchange for the life of Yeshua [Jesus] the Christ. How easily we overlook such profound details.
27:15 Now at that feast [On the night to be much observed, a prisoner was released in recognition of Israel's deliverance from Egypt after sunset ending the 14th day of the month; at the time that Israel came out of Egypt] the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would. 27:16 And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.
27:17 Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ? 27:18 For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.
God gave a dream to the wife of Pilate revealing the innocence of Christ and she warned her husband.
27:19 When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.
Again it was the leaders of the Church of God establishment of that day who rebelled against Christ for their envy of Christ. Like the Church leaders of today: They want a following for themselves,and when people begin to question their authority, by being attentive to the teachings and commandments of Christ, these men are filed with envy in their hearts.
They teach that to be loyal to Christ you must be loyal to “his” corporate organization. They LIE and claim that their corporate church is the true church of God when it is NO SUCH THING; for the true church of God is that spiritual body that obeys and loves the Father and Christ over all else.
27:20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus. 27:21 The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.
27:22 Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.
27:23 And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.
Pilate then allowed the mob to have its way to prevent a riot, but declared Chris to be innocent.
27:24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
Then the Jewish mob said; let the blood of Christ be upon us and our children. In saying that they were admitting that they and all men have sinned, and need to repent and to be covered by the sacrificial blood of Christ
27:25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children. 7:26 Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.
The Roman soldiers then carried out the order of death, by first taking him to the barracks and mocking him.
27:27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers. 27:28 And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. 27:29 And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed [for a scepter] in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! 27:30 And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.
Then they took him away to crucify him.
27:31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.
Weakened by the beatings, Jesus needed help to carry the heavy beam on which he was to be hung.
27:32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.
27:33 And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull, 27:34 They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall [bitter herbs, myrrh]: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.
A crucifixion is a deliberately painful and lingering torturous death designed for the worst kind of criminals. As such the Father allowed this kind of death since Yeshua as taking upon himself ALL the sins of the world.r
It is argued as to whether it was a stake or a cross upon which Christ was nailed; how the cross has always been the symbol of the sun god, which is only symbolic of Satan; and since this appeared to be Satan’s victory; it would make sense that it was indeed a cross.
Nevertheless Jesus Christ conquered Satan and all sin and was raised up to sit at the Father’s right hand; thereby defeating Satan conclusively and for all time.
27:35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.
They then sat down to watch Jesus die.
27:36 And sitting down they watched him there; 27:37 And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
The crowds stirred by the ministry [the priests] mocked the dying man.
27:38 Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.
27:39 And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, 27:40And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.
27:41 Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, 27:42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. 27:43 He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.
27:44 The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.
The Timing of the Crucifixion.

At first glance, it might appear that the accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John gave inconsistent times pertaining to Christ’s crucifixion. However, this is not the case. Apparent inconsistencies are explained when we realize that Matthew, Mark and Luke used the Jewish reckoning of time, while John gave the Roman reckoning.
Focusing on the time of Christ’s crucifixion, according to Jewish reckoning, Christ was crucified at the third hour. As mentioned, the accounts of Matthew, Mark and Luke use the Jewish reckoning of time. Mark 15:25 says: “Now it was the third hour, and they crucified Him.” His crucifixion began to take place on the third hour or three hours after sunrise, on a Wednesday morning. According to Roman reckoning and our designation of time today, this would have been Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m.
Mark 15:33 informs us: “Now when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour” (compare also Luke 23:44 and Matthew 27:45). This darkness occurred, according to our modern reckoning of time, at midday–about noon or 12:00 p.m.– that is, six hours after sunrise. It lasted until the ninth hour, or 3:00 p.m. (that is, nine hours from sunrise according to the Jewish reckoning, or three hours from noon according to the Roman reckoning).
This darkness was due to heavy clouds covering the site and has nothing to do with any eclipse; no eclipse could ever have lasted for more than a few minutes. This darkness was a kind of veil between Christ and the Father hiding the face of the Father, from the sins of the world, piled upon the shoulders of our deliverer; in much the same way as sin separates man from God,
Is 59:1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: 2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
27:45 Now from the sixth hour [about there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
The Great Darkness
The darkness was symbolic of the great masses of sin separating Jesus from the Father is why our Master cried out in his agony of being separated from the Father.
Of all the things that Christ suffered; being separated from his Father was by far the worst.
If only all of the compromisers and idolaters in the Church today, were so dedicated to the Father that: No TEMPTATION, NO SIN AT ALL, would be worth the agony of offending, and of being separated from our Father in heaven!!!
The groups and the people who say they are full of love for Christ, and then compromise with the teachings and commandments of the Father and Christ: ARE IGNORANT; KNOWING NOTHING of the love of God!
The truly converted are devastated when they discover some sin in their lives! They immediately repent and take action to remove that sin, and effect an IMMEDIATE reconciliation with God!
27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? [here Messiah himself names the Father in Aramaic and NOT in Hebrew; so much for the sacred names in Hebrew] that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? 27:47 Some of them that stood there [thinking Messiah was speaking in Hebrew and being confused by the Aramaic], when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.
27:48 And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink. 27:49 The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.
The Deliverer of Humanity Dies.
27:50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
And immediately the temple vei,l symbolizing the separation of sin between the Father and the people, was ripped in two; as the true spiritual sacrifice for all sin was made on that Passover day; the very sacrifice that all those lambs were merely symbolic of.
There was a great earthquake and many dead physically raised up to life demonstrating that; Christ will raise the dead in him on that day, and will resurrect all people at their proper time.
27:51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 27:52And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 27:53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
At these resurrections the Roman’s recognized that Christ was indeed the Son of God; as all humanity will recognize him when the resurrection to the Wedding Feast takes place; and Christ returns WITH his saints to destroy the wicked, and to pour out his spirit on all repentant flesh, Joel 2>28.
27:54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.
The faithful then seek the body for burial and it was quickly given so that the burial could take place BEFORE the High Day of ULB; BEFORE the beginning of the 15th day of the first month!
27:55 And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him: 27:56 Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedees children. 27:57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus’ disciple: 27:58 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.
27:59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 27:60 And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed. 27:61 And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.
The Passover [the 14th day of the first month] is also the preparation day, for the first High Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the 15th day of the first month.
27:62 Now the next day [the High Day of ULB], that followed the day of the preparation, [the Passover when Christ was killed] the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate [and asked him for a Roman guard, for they would not guard the tomb themselves seeing it was a High Day] , 27:63 Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.
27:64 Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.
Pilate them gives them a guard to watch the tomb. This made the fact of the three days in the tomb a sure and demonstrated fact from Roman observation; when Christ was resurrected.
27:65 Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can. 27:66 So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
Mat 28
We know that this Sabbath was not the High Day because they came just before dawn on the first day of the week, Sunday. This also demonstrates quite clearly that the Sabbath was Saturday, and that no work was done in that day; while Sunday was a regular work day for the disciples of Christ.
1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
The angel of God removed the stone for the ladies, early Sunday morning, so that they could see that Jesus was no longer inside the tomb.
28:2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. 28:3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: 28:4 And for fear of him the keepers [Roman guard] did shake, and became [fainted] as dead men.
The angel announces that Christ was no longer there and had risen from the dead.
28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. 28:6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. 28:7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
28:8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. 28:9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and [fell at his feet, John 20:17] held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
John 20:15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. 16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
28:10 Then said Jesus unto them [the women], Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.
The ministry then bribed the guards to give a false report
28:11 Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch [guard] came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done. 28:12 And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers, 28:13 Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept. 28:14 And if this come to the governor’s ears, we will persuade him, and secure you. 28:15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.
The disciples then met at an appointed place only a short walking distance of a few hours away from Jerusalem. Probably Bethany

For The Same Day: Before Sunset
John 20:18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.
19 Then the same day at evening, [still] being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. 20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.
28:16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.28:17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted [a reference to Thomas] .
28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Jesus had commanded all men to obey the Father in all things; in both letter, and spirit and intent. Christ expanded and made the commandments far more binding than they ever were in the Mosaic Covenant, and he provided the way to reconciliation with the Father, and taught the gospel of Salvation; the WAY INTO the Kingdom of God!
The true Gospel is: Teaching the way to salvation, through belief in God’s promises, repentance, and a baptismal commitment to go and SIN NO MORE!
Then the gift of God’s spirit is given to all the sincerely repentant, who will sin NO MORE!
God’s spirit will be given to those dedicated in faithful love, loyalty and obedience to DOING the whole will of God!
28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 28:20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
