YOUR HEALTH: Asparagus is full of healthy nutrients. Everyone except leukemia suffers can enjoy this delectable vegetable and best of all it does no harm. For those whose experience with asparagus has been limited to the mush sold in cans, or in most restaurants; try preparing this treat from the fresh at home.
Select young thin spears instead of the larger more mature stems; bring some water to a boil while snapping off any woody ends from the spears; then place the stems in rapidly boiling water. It is most important not to over cook asparagus! Watch carefully and within a minute they will begin to change colour into a vibrant bright green. When this colour change is apparent; remove the asparagus from the water immediately and serve immediately.
The spears will be lightly cooked and full of important nutrients and cancer fighting agents; they will also still have a light satisfying crunch. Make asparagus a regular part of a healthy diet.
A study published in The Journal of the American Medical Association in 2010 found that vitamin B6 when combined with folate and methionine can reduce the chances of lung cancer by as much as two-thirds. Asparagus contains both vitamin B and folate. (Methionine, an amino acid, can be obtained from meat, poultry, fish, cottage cheese, peanuts beans, eggs, garlic, lentils, onions, yogurt and sesame seeds).
In 2009, researchers in Nanjing, China identified a compound called Asparanin A in asparagus. The researchers found that Asparanin A arrests the growth liver cancer cells and can even cause death in those cells. Asparagus is the best food source of the anti-oxidant glutathione, a substance researchers at the Institute for Cancer Prevention have identified as effective in warding off cancer. Glutathione is also believed to have anti-viral properties.
Research has shown that chronic, excessive inflammation and chronic oxidative stress heighten the risk for many types of cancers. Since asparagus contains many nutrients, including saponins, which have an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory property, it deserves a place in a healthy diet, along with other vegetables and fruits. The anti-inflammatory nutrients in asparagus make it an excellent dietary choice for people trying to combat diseases such as arthritis and rheumatism. It can also help prevent varicose veins.
Asparagus benefits the body in many other ways. Ayurvedic healing refers to asparagus as “shatavari” which means “women with a thousand husbands.” Ayurvedic experts have used shatavari for centuries to treat the symptoms of menopause as well as infertility and loss of libido.
Not Good for Leukemia Sufferers
Asparagus contains an amino acid called asparagine. Normal cells generally manufacture this substance, but leukemia cells often cannot and must obtain their supply from adjacent normal cells. If starved of asparagine, leukemia cells die. Elgar, a pharmaceutical prescribed for patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), contains an enzyme, L-asparaginase, which destroys circulating asparagine in order to starve leukemia cells.
Job 35-37: Elihu Continues on Self Justification
This is a powerful witness to the Church today, as they justify themselves against God and his commandments. “Oh, we don’t worry about obeying that: Mr this, or Mr that, said; this was alright to do”. “We don’t need to obey that scripture, all we need do is blindly follow the elder”.
Job 35
1 Elihu spake moreover, and said, 35:2 Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s? 35:3 For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I [repent and be] be cleansed from my sin? 35:4 I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.
If we sin do we damage God? If we are righteous does that give anything to God? Who are we to think that we can teach God? It is HE who teaches US; Not we who teach HIM!
35:5 Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.
35:6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him? 35:7 If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?
Our good or evil only affects other humans.
35:8 Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man. 35:9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.
Wicked men do not acknowledge God and his teachings [commandments].
35:10 But none [of the unrepentant wicked] saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night; 35:11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven? 35:12 There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
Trust in God for he judges all men and he will have no patience for self justification.
35:13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it. 35:14 Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.
Job trusted in his wealth as a sign of his own righteousness and did not truly trust in God who gave and took away these physical things. Sound familiar? Therefore God will take away the riches in which we trust to turn us back to him!
35:15 But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he [Job and friends do not understand] knoweth it not in great extremity: 35:16 Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
Job 36
1 Elihu also proceeded, and said, 36:2 Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God’s behalf. 36:3 I will fetch my knowledge from afar [from God's inspiration], and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.
36:4 For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge [God] is with thee [teaching Job through affliction].
God is fair and just.
36:5 Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom. 36:6 He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor.
The righteous [commandment keepers and faithful; to God will be kings on their thrones.
36:7 He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are [will be] exalted.
If the righteous are afflicted it is for their good.
36:8 And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction; 36:9 Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded. 36:10 He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.
36:11 If they obey and serve him, they shall [in eternity] spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures [for the things of God are a pleasure to the faithful] . 36:12 But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge. [Those who tolerate false doctrine and sin for the sake of organizational "unity" will be destroyed along with all those who compromise with or break any of God's commandments]
The hypocrites who place burdens on others that they will not bear themselves, who do not practice what they teach, shall be destroyed.
36:13 But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath : they cry not when he bindeth them. [upon themselves] 36:14 They die in youth, and their life is among the unclean.
God delivers the poor in spirit and feeds them; opening his ears to their cries.
36:15 He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression.
God would have delivered Job, except that Job fell into wickedness, justifying himself against God.
36:16 Even so would he have removed thee out of the strait into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and that which should be set on thy table should be full of fatness. 36:17 But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold on thee.
Job is warned that he is about to be destroyed by God for justifying himself against God; just like the Church groups are justifying themselves against God and his Word to remain faithful to their idols of men, traditions and organizations.
Brethren, Job and we: are in grave danger of the unpardonable sin! Which IS self justification against God and a refusal to repent! If we refuse to repent, justifying ourselves against God; there is no more sacrifice for our sins! Why? Because we WILL NOT REPENT.
The great tribulation correction, is all that remains to SAVE US from danmation for our self justification and refusal to repent and rejection of zeal for God’s commandments for OUR OWN traditions, organizations and men!
It is not for nothing that Jesus Christ WARNED US that he will spew us out of his body!
Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
Jesus Christ was getting angry with Job’s self justification and he IS ANGRY with the church groups as well!
36:18 Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.
Will Christ esteem us when we justify ourselves against HIM?
36:19 Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold, nor all the forces of strength. 36:20 Desire not the night [do not seek affliction by justifying ourselves against God] , when people are cut off in their place.
Choose repentance and humility before God and his commandments, and flee from iniquity.
36:21 Take heed, regard not iniquity: for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.
Remember that God is to be our Teacher; What is man that he presumes to know better than the clear commandments of God? STOP calling the Sabbath Holy and then polluting it!
Stop exalting loyalty to your man, tradition or organization as being loyalty to God! Stop committing spiritual adultery with paganism and our own little tin gods; above the Word of the Almighty!
STOP exalting ourselves and not exalting our Mighty Savour to keep all o fhis commandments and teachings!
36:22 Behold, God exalteth by his power: who teacheth like him? 36:23Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity? 36:24 Remember that thou [should] magnify his work, which men behold. 36:25 Every man may see it; man may behold it afar off.
God is great, He is Mighty, He is Wise! Who is man to justify himself before his maker?
36:26 Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.
See how these things of nature were understood thousands of years ago? Ancient man was NOT ignorant man!
36:27 For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof: 36:28 Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.
36:29 Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise [the thunder] of his tabernacle [clouds]? 36:30 Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea.
By the rain from God the people are fed with the produce of the earth.
36:31 For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance.
36:32 With clouds he covereth [can hide the light] the light; and commandeth it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt. 36:33 The noise [thunder comes of the clouds] thereof sheweth concerning it, the cattle also [are fed by the watering of the grass] concerning the vapour.
Job 37
Tremble before our God and his Word. HEAR HIM and KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS OF WISDOM!
1 At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of his place. 37:2 Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound that goeth out of his mouth. 37:3 He directeth it [His Word] under the whole heaven, and his lightning unto the ends of the earth.
From the cloud and the lightening God roars and thunders his voice; HEAR YE HIM!
37:4 After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency; and he will not stay [delay his words] them when his voice is heard.
The Might and Wisdom of GOD!
37:5 God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.
37:6 For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength. 37:7 He sealeth up the hand of every man [gives understanding of physical things]; that all men may know his work.
God has programmed the behaviour of the brute beasts.
37:8 Then the beasts go into dens, and remain in their places. 37:9 Out of the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold out of the north [in the northern hemisphere].
37:10 By the breath of God [moist wind in the cold] frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened [contained].
God established the weather.
37:11 Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud: he scattereth his bright cloud: 37:12 And it is turned round about by his counsels: that they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the world in the earth.
God uses the weather either for correction or for a good blessing
37:13 He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy.
Job is exhorted to listen to the wondrous works of God and to stop justifying himsalf against God. the church groups should also see these words and LISTEN ,and repent of justifying themselves against God! Lest they undergo the exact same correction as job did, his personal great tribulation expanded to include the latter day beloved of God.
Oh how God truly loves his people; his obstinate children; who think they know better than him! Because he loves us so very much, we are set for a good spanking to save us from ourselves.
Rev 3: 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Repent of justifying our sins against God!
37:14 Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.
37:15 Dost thou know when God disposed them, and caused the light of his cloud to shine? 37:16 Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge? 37:17 How thy garments are warm, when he quieteth the earth by the south wind?
37:18 Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass? 37:19 Teach us what we shall say unto him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness [our ignorance compared to God's wisdom].
37:20 Shall it be told him [God] that I speak? if a man speak, surely he shall be swallowed up [man is nothing compared to the wisdom of God].
God’s throne is in the heights of the North. The north wind is analogous of God’s word chasing away the clouds of spiritual darkness.
37:21 And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them [chases the clouds away] . 37:22 Fair weather cometh out of the north [the north wind clearing the clouds]: with God is terrible majesty.
37:23 Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict [unjustly].
37:24 [Righteous] Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of [in their own minds, against his wisdom] heart.
