ANNOUNCEMENTS: The New Moon day begins at sunset tomorrow night. Sunday will be the first day of the eleventh biblical month. We are commanded to worship God on the new moon. We do this with a Bible Study with like minded persons, and if necessary alone with our families and God, or alone with God. The MOST important thing is to spend time with God in worshipful study. For more information please see: God’s Commanded New Moons and the Beginning of Biblical Months For information on the Biblical Calendar: Understanding the Calendar of the Bible For information on the apostate Rabbinic Calendar used by the major COG Groups: The History of The Calendar of Israel
NEWS: Israel shoots one Gaza farmer dead and wounds another.
The Armstrong WCG had beautiful buildings and the appearance of a great work as they held pagan operas for the local community instead of proclaiming the gospel of warning and repentance in the post Loma days. Many people look back on these physical things, forgetting all the sin and apostasy; and think: “Those were the good old days.”
God looks on things differently and he has no nostalgia for that era of apostasy and watering down the teachings and commandments of God. The apostasy into Laodicean lukewarmness for God’s commandments began in the late 60s.
A beautiful campus, and a wonderful auditorium are NOT impressive to God. He looks on the heart and he looks for zeal for him and his commandments.
Over the past two years I have posted, or posted links to, many songs in many different styles. While of course not every style is liked by everyone; there is a common thread in these presentations. That thread is that they are all about the Psalms or spiritual songs as Paul advised us to have on our minds, and almost all of these efforts were by unconverted persons who had more zeal and more love for God [within the limits of their understanding] than the Armstrong COG Groups.
We are always told that the Feast of Tabernacle is a time for us to shine our light brightly before the world. Here is the 1981 Feast of Tabernacles presentation of Ambassador College and the Worldwide Church of God. This is the best they could do with over $100 million a year in 1981 and that grand auditorium!
I post this now in the hope that some organization will actually put together a godly presentation of psalms and spiritual music for the next FOT. Write the music and if you do not have the artists then hire some!
The Roman Catholic / Evangelical idea that God’s commandments mean only the Ten, is now rapidly growing in the COG Groups. LCG, Thiel, UCG, and other groups are leaning strongly in this direction and are lukewarm and lacking zeal for the practical application of ALL of God’s commandments including the Sabbath which is one of the Ten.
Jesus Christ commanded us to live by every word of God and said that not so much as a punctuation mark would be removed from the law as long as the universe exists.
The idea that the law is only the TEN is an Evangelical Catholic heresy and is the direction that all the major COG Groups are leaning towards in their apostasy. It is WRONG!
For years I have explained these things over and over and covered these various laws.
I intend to complete Job, cover Proverbs, Luke and John before Passover. The Song of Songs during ULB; and during the summer to cover Genesis and these commandments; We will have to wait until summer for explanations of these commandments, as I will not be distracted from my program. I have already covered the sacrificial system. http://godourlight.info/?p=360 All that will be left after that are the major prophets.
Over the course of yesterday there was a dialogue between myself and a person taking the stand that we need only observe the ten. I recommend that the comments on yesterday’s post be read.
This heretical idea that only the Ten need be obeyed, opens the door to a later doing away with all other commandments; which include tithing, the Festivals, clean and unclean meat and much more. If we accept the lie that we need only keep the Ten; then we make obedience to all other commandments voluntary, as in GCF [WCG].
We have bought into the Tkach changes by making obedience to commandments other than the Ten, voluntary and up to us; even if it takes some time for the actual stopping of the keeping of these other commandments to take place.
That is the fundamental basic foundation of all the Tkach changes; and it is being foisted off on the major COG Groups.
The sly deception is that they say over and over that the commandments must be obeyed, even as they focus people on the Ten Commandments, as being the only commandments for the New Covenant; and they relegate all other commandments to a voluntary “its our own choice as to whether we do these things” or “commandments other than the Ten are Old Covenant Judaism done away by Christ”, instead of their true place as commandments of God.
Once the Ten are made the only commandments needful to be obeyed, the foundation of living by every word of God will have been destroyed, and the rest of the law will come tumbling down in these organizations.
The foundation of your spiritual character house and your relationship with Christ is being undermind, eaten away, and destroyed while we sleep; and the whole house [spiritual Temple of God] will ultimately collapse unless WE WAKE UP!
The next time your elder says keep the commandments; ask him what commandments?
On another point; I received this letter, and although I have covered this many times I put it up in case any other person has missed the issue.
COMMENT: Dear James,
In your latest blogging you talk about some New Covenant with all humanity.
When I read Jer. 31:31 the meaning is quite clear, that the “New Covenant” is a future covenant that God will yet make “with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah”, not with the Egyptians, the Russians, the Chinese, not with all humanity. It is a covenant with that nation like the first one, but this time it will be effective, because they will believe God’s word. And all these nations are to come to God’s country and learn. Is that so hard to understand?? Why is it that you don’t seem to be able to understand that? Tradition?
MY RESPONSE: Yes the new covenant is made with Israel; then all the world’s nations are grafted into Israel! As Paul writes there is neither Jew nor Gentile with God; and the law itself states that any person who commits to God’s ways and is circumcised [in heart; that is, repentant from sin] is grafted into Israel.
Ex 12:48 And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the Lord, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.
As Paul writes in Romans 11, and Christ states in John 15; Christ is the true olive tree and the nations and people are branches; and the gentiles [the wild olive branches] will be grafted onto the true olive tree [source of the spirit] that is Jesus Christ.
Now Christ being of one spirit with his bride, spiritual Israel; all those who become of one spirit with Christ are also grafted into spiritual Israel.
We should all know that there is a spirit in man; others may call this the mind, the sub conscious or whatever, but we know that this is a spirit that God placed in man which gives memory and cognitive thinking abilities.
This spirit functions continually day and night and we have dreams throughout the period when we are sleeping. during those dream periods of which we are consciously unaware unless we wake up during the dream, our spirit wrestles with those matter heavy on our minds.
How often does a person wrestling with a problem have a new perspective after a good nights sleep? How often have people woken up in the middle of the night during a dream with a breakthrough idea or thought?
Our spirit or mind thinks and wrestles with what is occupying our minds during the day. This is usually in symbols that are difficult for the conscious mind to understand until the mind comes to a conclusion. For example a man may have a dream where he is doing something repeatedly and getting nowhere. That might be the result of deep frustrations in ones life.
These are natural dreams and they can be direct by what we focus on during the day. For example if our minds are on God and his ways through the day, if we sing psalms and spiritual songs and keep our minds focused on god during the day; during sleep our spirit or mind will dwell on and work to understand the things of God. It is not for nothing that David said I dwell on the law day and night, for whatever is put into the mind during the day is digested by the mind during the night.
if we are very frustrated or troubled in mind, we shall have troubled dreams, and if we have unresolved fears, anger and hatreds we can have nightmares. Nightmares can also be caused by eating or drinking too late in the evening, causing simple indigestion, or by watching troubling movies or having arguments or other stressful activities before sleeping. They can even be caused by reminiscing about some painful incident from the past, or by something that triggers such a memory.
I remember that at about the age of four my son watched He Man cartoons and my son began to have nightmares. After sitting down with him and questioning him I learned that he was afraid of a certain creature that popped into the picture and flew about, and we realized that the nightmares came from that show; the problem was easily corrected.
To stop nightmares we need to find the cause and deal with it; and sometimes that is not easy. Perhaps the best way for an adult to deal with nightmares is to go to God and pour ones heart out to him. Reasoning out the dream with God and seeking his understanding and wisdom. This may seem simplistic but I know that we tend to shy away from dealing with the unpleasant like nightmares and would just as soon forget them, yet it is very important to consider them and talk them out with God to attain a resolution of the cause.
Biblically BOTH converted and unconverted people may have dreams inspired by God, al;though in most cases the interpretation is reserved for a converted person.
The first recorded instance is in:
Gen 20:3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife.
4 But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?
5 Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.
6 And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.
Then follows the dreams of Jacob in Gen 28:12, 31:1o. Then God warned Laban in a dream and Joseph dreamed dreams. These were all warnings and personal prophetic dreams. Later came the prophetic dreams of various prophets and leaders like Nebuchadnezzar.
The point being that God gives dreams to whoever he chooses, according to his mercy and purposes.
While normal dreams are usually faded and forgotten in hours, inspired dreams are very vivid and remain in ones mind almost indefinitely, they are not usually understood by the dreamer unless they have a personal application.
We are to test the spirits and that includes our dreams; with the word of God. An inspired dream will never break any of God’s commandments or entice others to do so; it will also be consistent with all scripture.
Visions are short dreams or snapshots, given to people while awake.
